DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / In memory of Reg Tekkudenor
« on: March 29, 2018, 10:21:29 am »
Utterly unqualified for the job of protecting my fortress, he went above and beyond the call of duty when the supposed militia failed to respond to the call of duty and completely failed to even activate their military professions after I activated the squad.

When 11 of my goats and 3 of my dwarves had been butchered by the uninjured werebuffalo, Reg alone had the courage to do what needed to be done. After getting his hand punched clean off, Reg uttered his final words: Death... this is truly horrifying"

Knowing he only had seconds to live, Reg delivered a mighty punch with his remaining hand, and followed up by slamming bodily into the werebuffalo, sending them both tumbling into the volcano.

R.I.P Reg Tekkudenor. He gave his life for the fortress.

EDIT: New statue.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Settling in a haunted forest.
« on: June 03, 2012, 07:09:09 am »
I haven't even gotten started yet, and it's raining loathsome filth. What a happy beginning for this no doubt successful fortress. I'm looking forward to more evil weather, the world I genned has 100 types of both evil rain and clouds. Stay tuned for more weather reports, I guess. Haha.

Weather Report #1:
Filth is raining from the skies. The dwarves are unhappy, but deal with it. Those exposed seem to be experiencing dizzyness. As a result, dwarves are now taking shelter underground. The hole is open to the surface, and air passes freely into it, so no cloud protection. I look forward to seeing more effects of evil weather.

Weather Report #2:
Filth again, this time causing blistering. Most dwarves are underground and do no experience this effect, but my woodcutter and carpenter are exposed. Still no defence against clouds.

Weather Report #3:
It's still raining filth, both the blistering and the dizzying kind. It's been raining so long, the entire map is now covered in filth. Going outside has become somewhat dangerous, despite the mild symptoms. Continual exposure to the filth causes serious blistering, forcing the dwarves to rest in a bed while recovering. As a result, not much hunting is getting done.

... Without sacrificing a dwarf to the gods of famine. Well, It's not my fault they insist on removing the floor from the north.

New idea; Starve a dwarf to death every winter in this fort.

DF Modding / Drinkable milk?
« on: December 22, 2010, 09:54:44 pm »
So making milk alcoholic makes it show up on the drinks list, but now my dwarves won't put it in barrels.
Since it apparently isn't possible to drink from buckets, do you guys have any idea how I can get my alcoholic milk into some barrels?

DF General Discussion / The book of Armok!
« on: December 22, 2010, 12:41:49 pm »
Exerpts from the book of armok:

Greetings, fellow Dwarven overseers! I am Jebawe, and I come to you once again, bringing the word of the almighty Armok, Glorious and exalted is he! I have returned with excerpts from the Armok Thikut, the 'Book of Armok', from which Armok, glorious and exalted is he, spreads his divine message! Now, I shall reveal the divine message of Armok!

Armok Thikut, Page 174.

'And Armok said onto the elf 'come, join thy Dwarven brothers beneath the rock and stone, glorious is their empire! Enjoy the same glory, as bestowed by my power, as the Dwarves, and bask in my eternal splendour!' But the elf did spurn Armok, and Armok took him, and he threw him beneath the earth, and he encased him in adamantine, and the elf did regret his choice, for the demons, divine servants of Armok, took joy in his torment, and thus Armok hates the elves, and all their descendants, for all eternity!'

Armok Thikut, page 666.
'And the elf said onto his brethren, 'Come my brothers, let us pray to the forest goddess! For although she is a cold and uncaring harlot, unworthy of worship, she alone will listen to our sorrow, our woe, and our poetry!'. And Armok looked upon the elves, and he hated them, so he said unto his servants, 'rise from thy tubes, my servants! Fling thy righteous flame upon thy forest over yonder, and burn thy forest to thy ground!', and the Fire men did obey their lord, and they slew the elves, for Armok hates them.'

Armok Thikut, page 739.
'And it was said that the great elf, cacame, came to follow the dwarven ways, and fought for the sins of his elven brethren! But the elves' sins were too great, and Armok struck them down, and he said to Cacame "See, child, what duty I give upon thee, and what honour thee has been given, as I grace thee with my divine presence.'

Armok Thikut, page 1875.

'And the champion said onto the Elf 'Back, vile beast! Armok commands you!', but the elf did not obey, and much blood was shed that night, and the Elven lands were ravaged and burned, and Armok looked upon the Dwarves' deeds, and it was good.'

Armok Thikut, page 73425.
'And as Urist worked in the mineshafts, Armok spoke onto him. 'Throw thy tools aside, my servant, and create thy wildest dreams onto flesh!'. And Urist did obey, and he went to the noble quarters and slew the nobles, for Armok hates them, and he took their flesh and their bones, and he formed a great Floodgate! So the first artifact was born.'

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / So, uh, I have this volcano.
« on: December 22, 2010, 01:19:30 am »
A 42 z-level tall volcano, with the magma sea(Which I discovered after one of my miners jumped into the volcano. For some reason.) 45 z-levels below the surface of the lowest point on the map.

Now, what am I gonna do with it?

Life Advice / Is it creepy to ask a girl to wear a collar?
« on: July 30, 2009, 10:00:21 pm »
Is it creepy to ask a girl to wear a collar with a tiny bell on it? Purely as an accessory, you understand. No Bondage involved, and no leash.

DF General Discussion / Dwarven Dishes
« on: April 29, 2009, 05:31:14 pm »
Lo! For I have travelled far to unveil the darkest secret of Dwarven cuisine! Gaze ye upon my work, lest ye shall never know truth! Taste ye upon thine wonder contained within, and stare aghast at thine own frolicking image, as thou gaze into thine mirror!

Then, as thou mind adjusts, contribute thine recipes, that we shall never hunger.

Thine recipes be as follows:

Dwarven cat Biscuits:

Ingredients:
1 cat.
1 ol' bucket o' water.

Och, first ye separate tha bones an' tha meats, lad, an' throw tha rest away. Be sure ta give tha skin to tha tanner! Grind tha bones into dust, an' hack tha meat into pulp. Mix tha bone dust with tha water and stir. When tha mixture be white an' sticky, ye add tha meats into tha mix, and finally put slabs o' dough in tha oven. Bake until tha biscuits smoke.

DF Modding / Kobold Races.
« on: December 05, 2008, 10:02:40 pm »
Given the Kobold's recent surge in popularity, i thought I'd make a quick mod to add some new kobold breeds into the game.

Horned Kobolds. Slightly larger and with horns.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Beaked Kobolds. slightly smaller Kobolds with beaks.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Winged Kobolds. Like beaked Kobolds, except with wings. Also, no arms.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Mutant Kobolds. All the other Kobolds thrown into one, and then some. Still no arms. Also, it's larger than an elf.

... Okay, maybe it's not a Kobold anymore.

DF General Discussion / The elf song.
« on: December 05, 2008, 10:55:23 am »
Based on Iced Earth's "Attila"

They've ruled them for 50 years
And ravaged as their kings
Conquest burns in their eyes
And ice shoots through their veins
The forest's new ambitions lie
Father to the west
The empire that they seek
The farther to the rest
The Elves want to take their place
Like the impetuous sons
To make the entire world bow
To the kingdom of the suns

Alliance has been made
With many others clans
Beast and Goblin forces
Held within their hands
And by the Elves' hands it's said
The Humans met with death
To make their rule their legacy
They did their awful best
FAERIES and FAE
By many names they're known
But "scourge of blood" is the one
That rings the darkest tone

chorus

Hell awaits behind the mountain gates
The Dwarves will stand only to fall
They will die by their swords
The barbarian Lords
The Elves can hear victory call

(Elves)
Path of joy and morals
Heathens burn and crumble
Nature's fate beckons
It will come to conquer

(Dwarves)
Marksdwarves stand at ready
Champions all together
Keep to your lines
And the Elves are sure to falter

(Elves)
We will surely break them
We will overtake them
Fight till our deaths
Or the Dwarven devastation

(Dwarves)
They won't overthrow us
Armok stands before us
Shows us the path to the Elves' destruction

Sing to the sky, the battle cry
To propagate their fears
As terror is the weapon drawn
When battle has drawn near
And so the conflict is at hand
The gauntlet has been thrown
Contempt for the Dwarven reign
This poison seed now sown
And if by chance all is lost
Cut down by Dwarven steel
We'll suffer not as others have
Broken mind nor broken will

Repeat chorus

DF Modding / Meteoric Iron
« on: November 26, 2008, 06:59:30 am »
Just a sharp iron ore I modded in. If anyone wants it, feel free to copy it into your games.

You can make short swords from it without smelting, but this is mostly for novelty value, as it will deal less damage(Meteoric iron short sword simply sounds cooler than iron short sword).
