DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dwarf in Fey mood just standing there.

Well hell, I don't have Musk Ox leather. Thankfully its late spring and the human caravan should have some leather, but if I don't am I just boned?

Is there anyway to pull him out of this without sending him to tantrum or melancholy?

I'm learning by the hour. Funny, I thought all I had left to learn was siege weapon building and nobles. There is always more to learn from DF it seems.

Anyway Glassy's preferences don't seem to be a factor:
"Glassy likes Rutile, Pig iron, Precious fire opal, amber, the color dark violet, grates(?), ballista parts ??? Dogs, Muskoxen, and Dwarven ale.

Edit: I also have allot of variety when it comes to leather, I have two pages listing the different types.

Okay, NEW problem. Glassy's got everything he needs but is just sitting in his workshop.

He needs:
Silk cloth
Tanned hides
Raw green glass
Plant fiber cloth
Bones

So far he's grabbed one of each:
Raw green glass
Rope reed cloth
Saigon Molly Bones
Cave spider silk cloth

I have 111 tanned hides and made some fresh ones justy to be sure, I have tons of everything else, with the exception of silk cloth of which I have one left.

What gives?

(edit: Saigon Molly? You know what I mean.)

Thanks again!

Thanks guys, I had no idea about the furnace preference. I already have two magma glass furnaces but no straight up glass furnaces.

I'm building one now and I have plenty of coke. Hopefully this works.

If he's in a Fell mood (as opposed to Fey) then you've got other problems.

Make sure you have a tanner's workshop and a leatherworking place (are they the same thing? it's been a couple of weeks since I actually played...)

Heh yeaaaah. Fey mood. Thanks.

I have:
Leather works
Clothiers Shop
Carpenters Workshop
Jewelers Workshop
Mason's Workshop
Butchers shop
Tanners Shop
Craftdwarfs shop

My only skilled Glass maker has been taken by a (edit) Fey mood and is just hanging in his room.

I just finished save/loading back and forth, trying to get two dwarves out of an immigrant wave that I could actually use. I don't want to go through all that again so I don't want to just load before "Glassy" got the fell mood BUT I'm afraid to save now that he is in one if it turns out he is doomed for insanity.

What can I do to get Glassy out of this funk?

I already have Craftsdwarfs shops and Glass furnaces.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Town liason died...way to get one back?
« on: July 17, 2009, 09:00:21 pm »
Also you probably have a siege to look forward to. At least I've heard that loosing a liason on your map is one way to trigger those.

DF General Discussion / Re: 40d13 errors on mac
« on: July 17, 2009, 07:53:24 pm »
I'm running 40d13 on a macbook and its been working fine, except for the already reported text jumbling and mouse bugs.

The DF.exe is totally normal.
This may be obvious but  in regards to the screen being squished  have you messed around with the init settings? The screen calculator  is damn useful for that
Don't forget to turn Graphics on.

Key binding is also working for me. Again this my be to obvious to mention but be sure to delete both original bindings when rebinding a key and save them.

Line of sight? Not having one hasn't stopped them from pathing to my dwarves before. If you meant whether there was an unobstructed path leading to the dogs, there was.

I recommend kittens.

Another siege and it still isn't working. I'm gonna try making my access tunnel a bit less winding (complicated?) and see if that changes anything.

Maybe Goblins avoid War dogs when possible? Or they weren't in their line of sight? I've used kittens and donkey foals as bait and it worked okay. Of course they where between the goblins and my only entrance...

DF Bug Reports / Re: [40d13] Sub-Window Mouse Problems
« on: July 11, 2009, 07:49:14 pm »
Thanks for the thorough report.  It is moved to the top of my bug list now.

Same problem.
Thanks for moving it to the top of the list.
I stopped gening worlds when I learned how to paint them so this release has  a mixed flavor for me.
On the other hand the Macro feature is made of infinite win.

DF Bug Reports / Re: [40d13] Sub-menus scrambled
« on: July 11, 2009, 07:32:45 pm »
If it helps, I turned off all mouse interface and haven't had any trouble being stuck in menus.

Quote
Delete key being treated as a character in the notes is a side effect of it being bound in the text entry system.  I will disconnect it for the next version.

I'm on a mac to and you can fix this by going into the key bindings menu, deleting the current bindings for delete and rebinding them.

I am also having the same jumbling problem in with menus.

Aw Jeez, forgot about that part. I've also switched [PROGRESS_TRIGGER_POPULATION:2] to [1] while leaving the production thing at default.

Right now I'm thinking that this might conceivably be enough to trigger low pop sieges without even removing their propensity for babysnatching and speech, but we'd need someone to test this.

EDIT: Looks like that first time was something of a coincidence. The medium and small maps I gened had no waring goblins but two out of four small maps I gened had at least one warring goblin civ. I guess the jury is still out.

Looks like this might be the case. I gened a small world with  goblins with a 1 population trigger and the fortress finder mode shows every goblin civ is at war with the Dwarves.

I've modded my goblins a little bit but only in the ethics (Making them kill each other less) and site tolerance categories.
