Most 2D Disney is severely overrated. Lion King, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, etc. were all good movies. They are good for kids. But Disney + Pixar has tackled much more adult stuff, leaving in the things that 2D Disney didn't have the balls to tackle, while still creating movies that small children can comprehend and enjoy.

And yet some of Disney's earliest work is still hailed as the Second Coming. ::)

I have to give credit where it's due though, milking Snow White for eighty years via generic princess merchandise (and the odd item related to the seven dwarves) is pretty impressive.

I think among the 2D Disney films the Lion King does really stand out. Several others are indeed just "good" (though not only for kids, I still enjoy those films).

I agree that a lot of Pixar films are just as good or better though.

VVD smallest winner in history, with 21% of the votes.

At least 4 parties are needed to form a coalition.

so, uh VVD, D66, CDA and something else to fill up the remaining 7 seats needed?

Also that Erdogan lover Kuzu with his DENK party got 3 seats according to the exit polls.....

Its also pretty funny when people mention something that happened during the medieval age to justify what radical islam is doing today.

All while conveniently forgetting that the ottoman empire was a thing less than 2 centuries ago.

I don't think that anybody is trying to justify anything here.

I'd say many are trying to justify inaction (or, at best, appeasement) in the face of a serious threat.

Anyhow, back to the subject of politics.

Not much news about the election yet, but voter turnout appears to be exceptionally high so far. (the nice weather helps..)

Glad to hear it. Out of interest, what's the state of things RE voter ID in the Netherlands?

Everyone eligible is automatically registered and gets their voting pass. All you need is any form of official ID that is less than 5 years overdue.

Why this isn't the case in the rest of the world is completely beyond me.

My issue with this kinda thing is that they game developers don't seem to realise when to stop and reign things in, and then not forewarning people that it's going down the drain.

If you've got 15 systems that are poorly implemented, reign it back to 10 and then get those working well (and in a fun way) - the good software developers I've worked with in the past have always managed to spot when things are getting to diffuse and unworkable and reign everything in to the core elements.

Take rimworld - it started off incredibly basic, but the systems worked well in a fun way, and it's now one of the best selling games on Steam.

I really, really liked the gaslight people - they all seemed great, sincere and engaged with the community, however there's a level of sort of...hubris when they can see it going downhill and then not admitting it and pulling everything back in. Most gamers, especially those who are into the 'indie scene' would understand and be quite forgiving - not saying anything and then folding out of the blue is however pretty unacceptable.

I think this is actually where most game developers fail. Doing a few things really good almost always makes for a better product than doing a lot of things mediocre. It also gives you a very good base to expand from with sequels or expansions.

Fun moment from the evening's debate in the Netherlands: Geert Wilders calls Mohammed a pedophile on live TV. Amazing, to be honest. If I were Dutch, I would definitely vote for his party.

Well, I didn't

Also, the whole "fascism was racist and killed a bajillion people" doesnt exactly stick since communism murdered even more people and pushed several views your average social media progressive should find disgusting (IE homosexuals are mentally ill capitalist dogs, jews are fascist bastards because they don't conform to our ideas, ukranians are disposable, black people are inferior and immoral, etc).

So ye, sorry cringy soviet shirt guy, but I can't really treat you any better than a guy wearing a swastika.
I disagree, but only because Fascism clearly led to the Second World War (you might argue that hitler himself didn't cause all these deaths, but fascism is  indisputably the case and reason for the war), and by that token Fascism has a death toll of around eighty-four million people; whereas by contrast capitalism and communism have both, thus far, resisted the urge to plunge the world into everlasting night, which is a point in their favor.

On fascism starting ww2: Don't forget that Poland was invaded by BOTH Germany and the Soviet Union and that the Soviet Union Annexed the baltic states and started a war to annex Finland.

"Netherlands is capital of fascism", according to Turkey's foreign minister. A rather unorthodox statement, to say the least.

A rather peculiar statement coming from a government that:

1. Fired tens of thousands of judges, journalists, teachers and police officers for there (alleged) political affiliations.
2. cancels the parliaments immunity so it can persecute opposition leaders
3. Closes or takes over several newspapers due to their criticism on the government.
4. Arrests hundreds of people for "insulting the president" including gems like this: http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/turkish-newspapers-cook-arrested-insulting-erdogan-952785857
5. Cites Nazi germany as a good example of an effective presidential system
6. Tries to consolidate all power in the hands of its great leader through a referendum

big guns you say?

Eh, rail cannons were pretty much obsolete once bombing became a thing. You could just hit one of the tracks and it can't go anywhere.

Also bombing is just more practical in general. The allies just developed  a 10 ton bomb and dropped in from a plane. That just makes Gustav look silly.

So, martinuzz, I've heard a couple things about DENK, the party that apprently targets mostly Dutch of Turkish and Morroccans descent. What are they running on, what are their policies and stuff? How are they viewed?

They are viewed as Erdogan's puppets and idiots. For example they got caught using troll accounts to smear political opponents.

Seriously, public opinion is that they are quite pathetic.
