Ah, right. I find that Giant Cave Spiders are a bit less taxing if you've got six skilled, well-armed meatshields warriors with you.

Then again, the one we got was already rather injured was already giving into pain a lot...

My signature says it all. The sight I saw that day would put a grin on the lips of even the most stonefaced dwarf... :3

No. That's disgusting.

Funny thing, it's apparently perfectly fine with me licking a rotten Zombie Leopard corpse.  :D

Well, I've tried changing the number of edge oceans; the cap is 4. I'll try lowering the elevation, though. Thanks!

I apologize, I'm new to the forum and I've got no idea what the abbreviations HFS and GCS mean. Would you be willing to clarify?

I'd like to create a map that's that's surrounded on all sides by ocean, so that there's little to no land that appears to extend off of the edge of the map.

Thanks for any help you give. ^^

You may want to try modifying a few options in \data\init\init.txt.
Specifically, look for a block of text that says:

Code: [Select]
[TEMPERATURE:YES]
[WEATHER:YES]
[ECONOMY:YES]
[INVADERS:YES]
[CAVEINS:YES]
[ARTIFACTS:YES]
[ZERO_RENT:NO]

Turning TEMPERATURE and/or WEATHER to NO might help quite a bit.

Normally, I'd go along with an explanation like that; however, it doesn't happen all the time. Also, you're right that brook tiles don't count as water, but it only allows me to drink from a <direction>/Below tile, anyway.

...maybe it doesn't like the fact that there's a waterfall there, and somehow registers the brook as being dammed or something?

Fish "breathe" water.  Therefore they drown when they're in the air.
They might be falling off that waterfall and breaking their "lungs" also.

That makes sense. I had a feeling it might be something like that... anyway, I've had problems with stagnant brooks in the past, so that's still troubling me.

I was playing adventure mode today, and I found two very odd things. Neither one makes much sense, but I really don't know if they ought to be considered bugs or not. I screencapped both.

Tried to drink from this brook; the game thought it was standing water, though. Weird.

This is in the same area as the other screenshot. The messages at the bottom make absolutely no sense...

An explanation of some sort would be appreciated. ^^
