Small update.

18th Hematite, 217
HUMANS! An entire caravan with a liason this time!
Apparently they came right behind the gobbos and bided their time. Impressed by our superior defense, they dare to come and trade.
Very well.
Mosus, who just got reelected mayor, sent word to fill the depot with trade goods before I had a chance to say anything about it. It shouldent worry me, Diary, I am still the leader of this expedition!

23rd Hematite, 217
Lav traded. The humans are pleased. Mosus said something evil about them, but I pretended not to hear it.
We got loads of cheese, seeds, bolts and booze for some of the jewelencrusted trinkets we have made. I swear, one of those crates was worth over 6000 dwarfbucks in stone crafts!

28th Hematite, 217
Dear diary, my wife has been acting strange lately... She has been off for hours on end... Its very odd, but she says its gonna be a suprise, always with that weird smile...

The mayors and tax collectors offices are done, and are being engraved as we speak. I mean write, of course, dear diary. I know full and well that you cant talk, no matter how much I whould want you to. I wonder what you whould say, what you whould whisper in my ear late at night...
(The page continues along the same path for quite some time.)

...Also, there is a goblin stuck to the roof of the outer guardhouse. He looks mighty scared up there, but dare not go down. He´s been hanging onto his crossbow for ages now.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That might be because of the military that is still stationed there.

I have proposed a small outdoor farm to be constructed near the brook, which whould be watered by a waterpump. We whould set up some new floodgates to let water into the pumping cistern, but I have been told thats a "bloody friggin easy!" task by one of the mechanics. I sure hope little Khamero Junior does not grow up to use that kind of language!

I have some stuff coming up, but I'll be finished with my part til monday, if all goes according to plan. =)

Nobody has died yet, and this is the current population of the fortress.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I havent really done anything of large so far, but I have some smaller projects in housing and such that I will work on. Cancelled the excavation mining and such, so that the miners can dig out nobles quarters and stuff.

Edit: Yea, and a child murdering trap perhaps... Just gotta make sure my own kid makes it...

1st Granite, 217.
Dear diary, as of today, I am taking over the rulings of JackBolt.
Yes, you heard me. Or whatever you books do. I, a humble peasant, have been so dutyful in my lever-pullings and chats with the other dwarves, that they decided to let me rule the place!

Okay, thats not completly true, after the dragon Osram came along on the 16th, you remember I wrote about that, Mr Ham has been reclusive, evasive and looks like he´s been thinking alot. Not that I've been stalking him or anything, or been able to since he´s been holed up all that time, but it sure seems strange.
And last night, he came into the dining hall, everyone was still celebrating the dragonslaying and I might have been a wee bit tipsy, when he bellows over the crowd: ANYONEWHOWANNABELEADERSAYWHAT!

But I'm sticking with the version where he chose me personally, if anyone asks.

My first day in charge I met with Bëmbul, the tax collector, Aban the hammerer, and Mosus, the mayor.
Apparently none of them had their proper dining rooms or anything like that!
Sure, I've heard them following Mr Ham down the corridors, endlessly blabbering about not having enough chests or they had to sleep in the mud, but I was blissfully unaware of how ANNOYING they could be!
First order of business is to get some more rooms dug out.

Some stonecrafter apparently had their own nice little dining room and office, even though they held no positions.
Oh well, mine now! I need an office to work at, after all!
Not that I needed all that, but heck, I am the manager, I know whats best here!

I heard rumors of spiders near the closed of chasm. Hopefully there are still some left there, for even though spiders in themselves are pretty icky, the silk can be a valuable export. I doubt these dwarves have the skills to make anything outta the silk though, dwarven fashion is not very popular by other races. I cannot see why.

Also, I am now officially known as an Administrator. I have a plaque on my desk and all. Its plated with gold and menaces with spikes of obsidian. And all I did was to tell them to brew booze.

4th Granite, 217
Hired a couple of peasants to be miners. They are friends of mine, and will help finish the dinings rooms and offices, which I have placed on the nobles level, next to the farms. I'll let em complain if it smells.

Also, Mosus the mayor came along and told me the elves hated us for chopping down all the trees, and that we had been warned not to cut down any more of em.
Maybe we should work a bit more on our defenses, and train some further militarydwarves...
Cuz hell if some pointy eared dainty CANNIBALS are gonna babysit us like we are some kind of bearded children!
I mean, we could just expand the aboveground castle to house some siege weapons...  I'll check with the mechanics.

...Oh hi Mosus, are you still here? Sorry, I was talking to my diar.. Myself. Talking to myself. Bye!
(...That was close, diary!)

9th Granite, 217
Designated digging to the chasm. I want that silk, and I want it NOW! I have arranged for it to be near catproof, since I heard some of the catowners here mention how their cats loved to eat the little things, and how cute that was. Little furry vandals!

15th Granite, 217
Elves! This time they bring trade goods, and not complaints!
Not that I'm complaining...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Note: Mosus have been giving me weird looks since last week, and other dwarves are acting strange too. I hope it will pass.

19th Granite, 217
I dont know if Mr Ham expected it, but we found a deep pit into the bottom of the earth, or close enough in any case!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And it seems like someone has been here before...

23th Granite, 217
Traded some bullocks from the elves, been thinking about making clothes and dying them to give em some extra value...  At least we have some dyes now.

Note: I have yet to be able to see Mosus in the eye. I think he is avoiding me.

20th Slate, 217
One of the craftsdwarves complained of not reaching her young today, her screams could be heard far and wide. Apparently, Mosus, our mayor decided to put her to jail for not getting him giant rat leather stuff or something. I can -kinda- understand that, but...  They left her kid when they arrested her, and the baby is now crying in the corridor where she was taken. God knows if the kid will make it. But then again, its a dwarven child.

26th Slate, 217
We are no officially a duchy. Hooray, I guess. The count is now a duke. I will try and bribe the next caravan to bring good tidings to our queen about our fortress.

3rd Felsite, 217
I have made plans for a road leading to the fortress. The smooth floors laid out were all well and good, but a nice blue road is what this fortress really needs! I hear the queen is very fond of roads...
But whats more important, it brings jobs and work for our dwarves! Too many are just sitting about, listlessly pulling levers and making babies! This needs to change!

4th Felsite, 217
Our dwarves have found migrants approaching the fortress, despite the danger!
1 Animal caretaker
2 Butchers
7 Peasants
1 Clothier
2 Craftsdwarves
2 Woodworkers
1 Milker
1 Fish Cleaner
1 Weaver
1 Metalcrafter
2 Planter
1 Stoneworker

Why they are coming here, I can only hope to fathom. But we have plenty of food and booze so it should be fine.

12th Hematite, 217
HUMANS! A diplomat at least.

And whould ya look at that! They brought friends! Gobbos!
And right after em too.
Well, whould ya look at that.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Dear diary, I will not waste ink om drawing human blood in you, so you will have to imagine it.

13th Hematite, 217
The goblins are approaching. The army has been mobilised outside the gates.

16th Hematite, 217
Uh... I think I slept over the gobbos attack...  When I got out... Well, I wish I could paint ya a picture.
Apparently, two of the groups were slaughtered pretty instantly, and a third just took off at the sight. More junk in the yard, I will write down an order to melt down their equipment as soon as I can. I know you get jealous when I write in other books, dear diary, but you will have to understand that I have an important job now, and we all have to make do...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'll be back later, diary, I need to get more red ink! Love you! (There is a mark here that could have been made by something bearded that kissed the inky page.)

I could possibly take a turn if nobody else is in line. =)

22
Kill the beasts = tantrum spiral = BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

23
Seriously, as greedy as dwarves are, they should flock to that place JUST because of the massive riches you have created!

24
Tradan, don't worry, I'm sure your soul is with armok now again =D
I'm not even dorfed yet, though since updates are coming slow, I guess I won't be for a while.

However, the story is awesome! =D so no worries, eh?

25
Good to see that arbalest come to good use! Might I suggest as a personal project, that if ever any potential friends of khamero get killed, squadmates and so on, i'd like some really hideous dungeon carved out with several different and painful ways to maim, torture and kill prisoners? If there is a tradgedy that should affect him, that is. =D

He's the kind of dwemer who does not take kindly to things like friends dying.
And he likes cat... I mean khajits!

26
...Alright, I might forgive you then.  ;D

People underestimate the power of maces in any case. >=D
I enjoy smacking people around and sending them flying. Its so much fun!

Very nice drawing btw. Looks very awesome even. =D

27
When I am legendary swordsdwemer, let me fight them in the colloseum, with my pet automatons!

THERE WILL BE JUSTICE!

28
Darned imperials! They should know that their silly speechcraft bonus will do them no good in battle! They should know that their only chance of survival is to hide behind OUR masterful defenses, and behind OUR gloriously clad dwemer warriors!

Bloody imperials... Their own fat luck they didint get hurt.

The khajiit were smart enough to stay inside at least. Good kitties. =D
I really like khajiits. If possible, I'd want to be able to ride one in battle! >=D
Thats my dwemers dream in any case.

29
Wheels of adultation...?! xD

The beards of fire is an awesome name though. =D

Well, when you´re waiting for something good...  Then 33 hours is a long time...
