Can I just say, thank you, to the utility creator. This utility has only gotten better and better since I first saw it. Comming back to DF after a long absence, and grabbed the Lazy Newb Pack, and man am I glad this is included.

I also put my thanks in for continued work on this necessary tool. Long term Dorf management isn't really possible without it.

I started playing about six months before the test releases for the new release of the game first came out. When carp were strong, elephants feared, and Mer people used as jewelry.

So not too much has changed, really. I still get killed by carp. All kinds of messed up critters wander into my forts. Had a damn gazelle wander in and kick the crap out of half my population a few months back.

Ah, I love this game.

It is well known that bookkeepers are actually a highly attuned form of psychic.  As was quoted by someone else, "It's obvious the bookkeeper is just a form of psychic meditation.  After all, he doesn't go around counting all the goods on the map, how else could he know about it?  Clearly, the "record keeping" skill is the act of attuning their body to their surroundings, allowing them to "feel" the amount of orthoclase boulders in the rubbish heap."

That's... a stunningly perfect explanation of what seems to be occuring. I love how, once they are fully attuned to their surroundings, they never have to do any work again. They just KNOW.

Hey there, PCPaste. I'm Rion Wulfe. Been on the forums for over a year or so now. When I'm having a bad day, this place always cheers me up.

MLP Mod? Dear gods. I'm not sure if I'm afraid or intrigued. Have you posted this somewhere?

Making toys is elfy. It's mugs or nothing.

Storage area for meat is fine to make out of stone (is that possible now? I'm still exploring the newest release.) as is anything that holds alcohol. Crafts are.... iffy, I suppose. Making them out of your fallen enemies bones is, of course, dwarfy.

But toys?? Bah. Working for a jolly old elf???? No way! Insta tantrum!

Pretend you're Santa and make enough toys to make all dwarves in your fort legendary stonecrafters.

For some reason, that sounds strangely elfy to me.

In my fort, I'm being ASSAULTED by wave after wave of turkey hen, trying to claim the nest boxes I have set up.

I have to say, this has been by far the most hilarious invasion I've had so far. They come in through the holes I had in the roof for the apiary (bee hive room), and swamp the pasture I have the nests in. Luckily, I also had dogs there, so the dogs have been slaughtering the wild hens.

This is the easiest hunting I've ever done.

It's pretty traditional with roguelike games to have one save, rather than multiple like in RPG's and strategy games. Your choices in a Roguelike are supposed to have consequences, not easily revoked. Part of the 'one life' thing that is inherent to Roguelike games.

It's all about refinement now. And there were many styles of castle, technically. Is a 'Castle' the part within the walls? The building? The keep itself? The walls?

Some castles had room inside for a few farms, et cetera. A 'walled city' is technically a castle, too.

A motte and bailey is a wooden castle on a hill with a wooden wall surrounding it, and is technically one of my favorite forms of castle. The Vikings, Celts, and early Britons all used Motte & Baileys.

Just saw the main page, and the wonderful pics Toady posted of those generated castles. They look friggin' better than the ones *I* build, Imma have to copy the style. Thank you, Toady. DF grows evermore amazing.
