Mafia / BYOR 12 - Game Over: And That's Why They Call Them Mafia

This is BYOR 12 (Bring Your Own Role). You can choose any role, picture, short story, Wikipedia page, molecule, idea, etc. As long as it has a short description, Wikipedia link, or video, I don't mind. If it doesn't, and I'm oblivious to the knowledge, you're in a bit of trouble, as I casually make things up out of a hat. I'm also less than knowledgeable on several aspects of pop culture. I'll make up the action(s) to your role. No matter what your role, no action or alignment will ever be guaranteed.

Please maintain a chill atmosphere.

Basic rules:
 - No PMing to anyone but me, the mod. I won't make this an action either because PMing is stupid.
 - No Quoting of the Mod in relation to PMs. You are free to quote anything in the thread. You may also paraphrase.
 - Semi-hammers in effect. Days last on a soft 72 hours, unless majority is voting for any player or No Lynch. If a player is hammered, there is to be no more talking. If you accidentally post something after the hammer, you can and should edit out the post.
 - Nights last 24 hours or whenever all the actions are sent in. If you do not wish to action, please send a PM stating so.
 - Weekends count for 0 hours, as I enjoy my free time on them.
 - Extensions require a majority vote. This will be limited to 2 extensions per Day, because, seriously, make up your minds already. Extensions are an additional 48 hours.
 - There may be Post Restrictions. These should not interfere with gameplay.
 - I cannot answer questions about player's roles unless that player's role is available to be seen. I cannot answer questions about your role in thread. I can, however, answer generic questions. I will simply ask you to rephrase the question, if I deem the question is bad.
 - Please vote in a manner that is viewable with my poor eyesight. If I can't see your vote, I might skip it. I can't trust LurkerTracker to do my vote counts for me, but I'll at least check it for semi-accuracy. Bold and Red makes it really easy to see.
 - If I leave the thread open at Night, do not post unless you have an ability allowing you to.

You are not in the game until I receive a role. Also, don't under- or overestimate your abilities. And have fun! Because, honestly, that's the whole point.

Mafia / Magic Mafia - Game Over!

This is Magic Mafia, a BYOR-like in which you send in an Element for your mage to have control over. Whether this is an object, an animal, an idea, etc., I'll try my best to make you a mage. Your chosen element will grant you powers that match it.

Basic rules:
 - No Editing of your Post, unless your role allows it.
 - No PMing to anyone but me, the mod unless your role allows it.
 - No Quoting of the Mod in relation to PMs. You are free to quote anything in the thread. You may also paraphrase.
 - Semi-hammers in effect. Days last on a soft 48 hours, unless a majority is voting for any player or No Lynch. If a player is hammered, continue to talk or socialize until I finally get around to posting.
 - Nights last 24 hours or whenever all the actions are sent in. If you do not wish to action, please send a PM stating so.
 - Weekends count for 0 hours, as I enjoy my free time on them. Also, consider Friday afternoon to be a part of the weekend.
 - Extensions require a majority vote. This will be limited to 2 extensions per Day, because, seriously, make up your minds already.
 - There are no Post Restrictions, other than those related to playing the game fairly.
 - I cannot answer questions about player's roles unless that player's role is available to be seen. I cannot answer questions about your role in thread. I can, however, answer generic questions. I will simply ask you to rephrase the question, if I deem the question is bad.

Please read the rules and preferably the current story before you join or replace. Usually, if you're following along, you'll be able to join eventually. I go by a first come, first serve basis. So, if you want, post a character, but it won't guarantee a spot unless you're following along.


Dear Letter Recipient,

Thank you for signing up for our Pandorium Participatory Program! We are happy to announce that you have been randomly selected to join our study, along with 4 others. If you so accept, please send back the perforated portion of the letter below, filled out to satisfactory completement, in the envelope enclosed.

Here at Pandorium, our mission is to learn more about our world. Our previous renovation - the RiNG - has led to significant leaps and bounds in the sciency community, and we are now ready to test our next inventiation: The tRaNsporGer. While extensive animal testing has shown no long-lasting physical damage to our machines, human testing by you and other select testing subjects will help Pandorium understand the full ramifications of our new product.

2) You must have made your Bay12 account before November 20, 2012. Sorry, but this is meant to contribute back to the community.
3) You must not be an Escaped Lunatic. We appreciate people who contribute to our community, so don't be shy!
4) You must acknowledge that you've read these rules.
5) It is not necessary for you to donate games, though if you'd like, I will post any donated games. Please read the rules following for donated games.
6) Please list all games you wish to sign up for in alphabetical order. And no, you may not choose all of them. Please try to keep your entries limited, so that everyone at least gets a chance to win.
7) If you decide later to join more games, make sure you alert me that you've already signed up. And make sure you didn't break any of the rules while signing up either.

Donation rules:
1) I do NOT choose who wins your giveaways. This is to maintain fairness. I will, however, attempt to keep the list up to date.

Mafia / King of the Mafia Continued: Game Over

As the previous King of the Mafia, it is my pleasure to re-re-introduce King of the Mafia! Are you ready to win the title of King of the Mafia?

Specialized Rules:

Inning is not required to sign up.  To sign up read only the two pages of Xylbot's role list and choose ONE role from there.  You will then be assigned with that role, with a possibility of additional features based on balance or tomfoolery(though nothing hidden).

Once 7 people have signed up, the game begins.  A random person will be picked as King Mafia and will be given, on top of their role, the Mafiakill.  The First Round ONLY will start with a kill-less Night.

From there, the game continues.  During the game, anyone else can Sign up to be put on a queue. Game will play like a standard mafia game.  If you die at any time, you may Sign up again, though others who haven't played that round will have priority.

If King Mafia is killed at any time, the round ends.  Those in queue will take the place of those that died to refill the ranks back to 7 (those still alive remain), a new KING MAFIA will be picked, and the game will start on the next phase (Old round ends in Day, new round starts at Night...)

Play continues until KING MAFIA succeeds in being the ONLY one alive.

There is an antilurk system in place.  Each RL day, you MUST have either voted (even if its for the same person) or sent in an action.  Fail once and you get one prod.  Fail twice in the same round and you will be killed, a player in Queue will automatically Sub in for you, and you will not be able to rejoin.  Ever.

All may join this game, though be aware of the antilurk system.

You're done with the rules.  Now join and claim the mountain!

I'm following these rules, which may have be edited slightly to account for some things that I wasn't a fan of. Should you win, you may feel free to flaunt your new title of King of the Mafia!

To sign up, send in your chosen role. You are not in until you send in your role. You don't need to even !in in thread. The queue will start with those that have yet to play a Round, giving new players a higher priority over rejoining players, unless rejoining players signed-up in a previous Round but were excluded due to there not being enough spaces, giving them higher-higher priority.

Twenty Turns to Live: A Triperson Text Adventure.

Rules:
  • There will only be three (3) living players each Turn. Each of these players will be in their own unique Session.
  • All players enter the game at Turn 0.
  • There are two Phases each Turn: Free Phase and Turn Phase.
  • During the Free Phase, only the following actions are allowed: Talking, Looking, Taking, Dropping, and Object Use or Manipulation.
  • During the Turn Phase, any action is allowed, though it is generally frowned upon to do actions that are knowingly impossible.
  • You are free to totally cheat and use information obtained from other players or Sessions. You big cheater you.
  • A queue will be saved of all players that have signed up, but the next available Session will be filled in a first-post-while-it's-open, first-served fashion.
  • When first posting to take a Session, please post your first Free Phase action.
  • Phases will be completed within one or two days or less depending on several conditions. Most of these are player posting. If you do not post within 48 hours, you will automatically choose to use the action "Drool," an action that has been known to confuse zombies.
  • Should your Session become unwinnable, the bomb in your stomach may explode. However, there are a few cases where the bomb has malfunctioned for various point-gathering reasons.
  • The game ends when somebody catches the Golden Snitch escapes.


Turn Phase 0
You wake up in a cave-looking room. It's cold, wet, and your lack of clothes only serves to make you colder and wetter. While you normally pride yourself in your fantastic memory (you think), your head is clouded. You've forgotten everything but your name. Or, a name. Jamie. Wait, is that your name? ...Maybe it's Taylor.

Well, this is awkward. Naked in a cave. Not your proudest moment, Nameless. Or maybe it is. You don't know your life. Stop judging you.

You sit in a cave-like room with a swinging light on the ceiling. You look to the direction you have just called east. There is a doorway leading into a rather well-lit room. In that room is a stack of hay. In the direction that is now south, you see a wall with a painted "1" on it.

Mafia / Vote Mafia 8 (12/13) - Night 1: Trouble

So, I haven't done a Vote Mafia in a while, so I figured, why not?

Rules:
1. All roles are vote-focused. They can interact in odd ways, but will be related to votes.
2. Ignore this rule.
3. You may not quote my PM's, or you will be given a harsh penalty. Most of these involve your death.
4. In the event of a tie, multiple people will be lynched, if at least 80% of the remaining players have voted. If there is less than 80% voting and a tie, the Day will be Extended 24 Hours once, after which multiple people will be lynched.
5. Deadlines are a Soft 48 Hours Day with 24 Hour Night. Weekends count as 0 Hours. The game will skip your actions if you do not have any. This includes mafia targets. I will accept early actions, as well as changes while Night lasts. Night will end when all actions are in.
6. Extensions will be given if there is are 25% (rounded down) more for extension than shortening. Shortenings happen if at least 50% (rounded up) more are in favor as opposed. Extensions will be an extra 48 hours. Shortenings will end the Day. These will occur at Day end and 9 PM every weekday, respectively.
7. You will not be prodded unless asked. If you are replaced, you will NOT like it.
8. Rules may be modified in-game, if situations require as such.
9. Hammers are in effect. Hammers are based off of visible votes.
10. All players may vote unless they specifically have no vote. This means if you have 0 votes, you may vote.

Mafia / BYOR 8 - Game Over

If you wish to learn about this craziness, I'd suggest looking at BYOR 4, perhaps one of the greatest BYORs played. My hope is to make a game of that caliber.

Welcome to Beginner's Mafia XXX!


Introduction

This version of the game is aimed specifically at players who are new to Mafia, or are still relatively inexperienced. Here, it's more about having fun and learning than anything else, so don't give up hope if you find yourself in a bad position!
This Beginners' Mafia will feature playing ICs. This means that two more experienced people will join in the game to help you guys out and will actually be playing in the game. They can also be scum too, so always stay suspicious!
The ICs will never lie to you about the game mechanics though, and will usually have a special IC voice to use when they want to teach you guys, since their goal will be to get you guys ready for a real Mafia game. Just because they're playing doesn't mean you can't learn!


Gameplay and Concept

In Mafia, you are divided into two parts: 7 Town players and 2 Mafia players:

If you are Town, your goal is to lynch the Mafia. You do this by convincing others that one of the group is scum, and getting enough votes on them to lynch them.  The Town does not know who else is Town.

If you are Mafia, your goal is to kill off the Town until there is an equal number of them to you by getting them to lynch other Town or by killing them. You are given a kill each Night to kill any player in the game.  All the Mafia members know each other, and can communicate privately.

Each Day, everyone votes to lynch a player.  Vote for a player by posting their name in red.  You may change your vote at any time, remove your vote, or vote for No Lynch. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the day gets lynched, even if there is no majority. (Example: Nobody votes except for one guy, who votes Generic_Steve. Generic_Steve would get lynched). If you have a great deal of suspicion for someone, but don't want to vote for them just yet, point their name out in blue.

The Day will not end prematurely unless people vote to shorten the day. That is, there is no "hammer" in Beginner's Mafia, where X amount of votes (more than 50%) on a single person immediately ends the day with a lynch on that person. Some games do that, but not this one, and you would be explicitly informed in the rules if the hammer is active.

If there are tied votes for who gets lynched at the end of the day, the day ends in a no-lynch. (Two people vote for Generic_Steve, two people vote for Unassuming_Mary. Nobody gets lynched.) 

Each Night, you send in your actions. The cycle continues until one side wins. Days are 72 hours and nights are 24 hours. Weekends count for zero hours.


Rules and Guidelines
  • You may not PM other players other than the mod. The mafia will have a place to talk to themselves.
  • Never edit your posts, even to fix typos!  If you make a mistake, just double post- it's permitted here. Violation of this rule can lead to deadly repercussions.  I recommend using the preview button every time you post.
  • Never quote your role PM or any other PM sent to you by the mod.
  • If you need more time to discuss, you may ask for an extension.  If more players ask for one than those who decline one, the day will be extended by 48 hours.
    • There are no limit to the number of extensions allowed per day.
       
  • Please don't forget about this game if you sign up! If you cannot continue playing, please ask for a replacement! I will prod you via PM if you do not post in 48 hours to remind you that this game exists!
    • Note that a Mafia game usually takes a long time to finish: two weeks at least, and sometimes even longer than a month. Be ready for this.
    • Upon receiving your second prod, you are forcibly replaced (Another player takes your place) or modkilled (removed from the game) for inactivity. Beware.
       
  • Upon being killed, you are entitled to one "Bah!" post, but you are not allowed to post any game-related content. After your Bah post, you MUST NOT POST AGAIN unless you somehow come back to life (impossible in this setup) or replace back in (you must have been town to do this). Failure to comply with this rule can lead to a bad reputation amongst mods, and difficulty in joining other games.
  • Never underestimate your importance, and always play to win!
In this setup, there are the possibility of extra roles. These roles are Cop and Doctor for Town, and Roleblocker and Godfather for Mafia.
  • A Cop inspects any player at Night. They are told that player's alignment, but not their role.
  • A Doctor may protect any player at Night. This stops that player from being killed.
  • A Roleblocker stops an extra role from using an action. This stops Doctors and Cops but does nothing for Townies.
    • Roleblockers do not actually discover if their attempts were successful or not; that would be too powerful because the roleblocker would know they found a town power role. It isn't an investigative role (the same goes for the Doctor)! The Mafia needs to find the town power roles the old-fashioned way: analyzing behavior and voting patterns.
    • Townies do not receive a message if they were blocked by a Mafia Roleblocker. Only a Cop or a Doctor will receive a message.
       
  • A Godfather, if investigated by a Cop, looks just like a normal Townie.
There is a 50% chance for any of these roles to show up. It is possible to end up with no or all extra roles.

Extensions require support from at least one of the players.  You may oppose extensions as well, which cancels out an extension request.  For example, if there were five players, with two requesting and two opposing, there would be no extension.  (2-2 = 0 of 5)

Along with opposing extensions, there is also the option to Shorten/End the Day. They work differently from extensions, 33% required to pass with no objections. Shortening the Day ends the Day makes the day end as quickly as I can process it. Due to the nature of these requests, they also act just like Counter-Extensions.

He's here, and he plans to make your life miserable: just like usual! Your job is to kill him. If you can.

This is a bastard mafia game. I may or may not lie to you, but you are able to trust your original role PM and this post, because otherwise that'd be mean. After that, it's fair game. Also, there shall be surprises in store for you. Because I'm webadict. The Webadict!

There will be 13 players: no more, no less. One of these 13 will be the Webadict. Your job is to kill him. His job is to kill you. Simple, right? Good! Then I am free to make that much more difficult.

If you wish to be the Webadict, shoot me a pm or simply post it (for the WIFOMz!). I'll choose a Webadict at random from those that wish to be. The Webadict will have the hardest time winning, and you miss out on getting to kill the Webadict. I know... it's a tough choice.

So, I've gotten an idea from the latest giveaway. I shall attempt to host a rather complicated giveaway idea, where each day of December up to Christmas will have a giveaway to announce. I, myself, do not have enough gifts to give away (Though, I do have a fair amount, as I will be breaking up Indie Royale bundles, plus I have an extra copy of Portal 2, and I'll attempt to obtain more gifts as I go along), but I was hoping for a nice community spirit to help me out with the remainder.

If you're interested in joining in on the generosity, feel free to send me a PM with your giveaway. I will merely attempt to keep track of who is signing up for what. As a general rule, ALL GIVEAWAYS MUST BE RANDOMIZED BY THEIR DONATOR.
