[long]

Wait, DID I take slow and actually forget that?

Well, regardless.

Yeah, I asked for Whose Line Is It Anyway and got a button that changes the channel. Hey, I was watching that!

No, I didn't ask notquitethere for anything specific. I don't like doing that; I want to be surprised. And I didn't complain about my role for the entire game, but now that it's over I'm giving my honest feedback.

NQT, re: the new grid: I can't really make any set of spheres I would be particularly interested in playing out of that. Granted, it's supposed to be a tradeoff, so it's arguable whether that's a problem, but previously there were combinations (like the one I picked) where even the red spheres were interesting choices for me. I think it's just sort of too thematically distributed, so adjacent spheres don't feel like they fit together well anymore for the most part.
Yeah, I agree with Max on this one.  Max and I got a single Ability, and when it changes, that's a huge unknown.  There's no fallback strategy and little idea on how that change affects us in the long run.  Flux changing an action feels fine, but Flux was changing everything for us because we only had our one Action.  It's more like...  I wish I could have something in reserve in case I get a bad Emerald (also I got 6 hidden Abilities, I'd like a refund.)

I didn't specifically ask for anything because I don't want to limit design space or influence roles beyond a base inspiration.  I wanted Emeralds to hand out, but I'm not gonna ask for it because I kinda want to see what NQT comes up with on his own.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be salty, NQT, sorry if I'm giving you a hard time about it.  I'm more trying to get a feel for if I'm missing anything crucial in my analysis and to remove as much bias from my analysis as possible, as well as let you know how my role felt while I was playing the role (though, this last one is entirely biased.)  I think it boils down to:  I liked that my role had changing things I couldn't quite control (truly, I DID like the concept of Harness Emerald, even if I wasn't a fan of the first Emerald), but I think one more Action to choose from would've made the difference.  I liked that my role interacted in a way with Toony's, though, I wish it was in a way that Toony and I both gained fairly equally from instead of him being put at a bit of a disadvantage.  I liked that I had Emeralds to collect, though I wish I had more room to collect them.

Those are pretty much my frustrations with my role, at as much of an unbiased opinion as I can get.

That sort of conditional build up might happen on Slow/Limitation. With only Slow, buildup over time is probably correct. Granted, when you pick Cascade things do get out of hand. This from a Tric whos brain is burnt out.
Slow can be multiple implementations:  I think time is one of them, Days/Nights.  Players remaining is another.  Number of times an Ability is used is a third (An Ability could improve each time it's used.)  There's a bunch of ways I could see Slow working.  I'm not saying it has to always be one particular way.  I'm saying that we were all given the same way, against a Town that had several ways to reduce the efficacy of time-building.

To the mafia, how did the Double Lynch shake things up for you end of day?
The double execute fucked me and Max in particular, but more because instead of convincing a majority of the Town to not kill us, it requires convincing 66% of the Players to not execute us instead.  Overall, it wasn't particularly a fun Ability to deal with for three reasons:

- First, one of Max or I were probably going to die by the end of Day 1, and based entirely on my role, I figured I was the optimal target for it.  I hoped that I'd leave enough confusion behind when I died to make Toony, Euchre, and EP look suspicious, but, well, Chats are a strong ability, and should probably be removed as a sphere.  It's not a particularly fun Ability as Mafia, and it's extremely strong as Town.  I'd hate being Mafia with Chat, I'd hate being in a Chat with Mafia as Town, and it's super confirmable.
- Second, using it on Day 1 was always the right move, specifically because it confirms you (Mafia never use that Ability like that and also never HAVE an Ability like that.)  The chances that you execute a non-Town were about 70%, and even if you somehow missed, the double execute the following Day is not any amount of downside.  I couldn't see any downside to the Ability in the slightest, especially because it's all within the Town's power to use it and not based on your intentions.
- Third, if non-Town had somehow survived the double execute, it actually hits our team harder than other Mafia teams.  We all had Slow Abilities, and we'd basically always be shortening our teams likelihood of getting our powers online.  We got punished for all being picked as scum with Slow.  And I realize that this is sort of luck of the draw that we were all on a team with that powerset, but we didn't have to have powers manifest in that way, and honestly, I don't think they should have if we were facing a double execute.  If that were the case, instead of time being the deciding factor on our powerset, it'd have been better to have the number of living Players be it instead.

Literally just post less. Post only the top 10% most important content and let the rest sit.
^

Post way less, listen way more.  That is it.  This post is as long as your post has to be to make a salient point.

Actually, you know what, I think that running a game right now would be bad, so I'll run the next one, if someone wants to run a game now.

If you snipe my spot, I'll be very angry.

I'm finishing up the OP for Demonology because I got lazy and didn't finish it yet.  It'll be up within 12 hours... Or else...

RoseHeart has played Mafia before, and has also co-hosted before.

Also, Fallacy, I already implemented all of those changes into Demonology and more.  In addition to those changes, the AP system makes the base Mafiakill modular cost from 1-3, since Actions can differ based on their AP cost.  Plus, I think I made a good balance between having a solvable game and absolutely not wanting to claim things by having the Mafiakill use a new system Called Shots, where accurately guessing Player Roles makes the Mafiakill unstoppable and untraceable at the cost of failing if guessing wrong (Not Calling is valid, too.)

Additionally, there is literally never an issue with priority.  If two Actions take place (such as two zplayers stealing another Player's vote), both Actions would resolve as normal, with each Player receiving a vote, and the stealee having 0 votes (you cannot have -1 votes, obviously.)  Things like Roleblockers blocking each other would have neither Action blocked due to priority resolution (RNG blocking would be hella dumb, the Actions are happening simultaneously!)

Secondarily, if I focus on executing a pair of players, ToonyMan x Quarque, for example, everyone will be like 'but Fallacy, nobody will execute ToonyMan, so vote Quarque' and I get that, but I am being told not to vote the person I find scummiest, and instead to vote for someone who is not the scummiest, and it is absolutely infuriating to deal with that.

Can we not just, execute the scum?
Deal with Toony Tomorrow.  Toony isn't a viable choice.  Toony is being Townread by a lot of people.  That's not viable.  You cannot make a compelling case with 4 hours left in the Day.  You can start votes on Quarque!  That's more viable than Toony!  You can vote me!  That's absolutely viable!  You can't vote Toony!  Voting Toony is such a bad move, I don't know why you would make it.  I don't understand!

Oh web, I'm been at least as obnoxious advocating for Toonyman's death in prior games. It's hardly alignment-indicative, just bad play.

@Fallacy: So, web has basically been helping me all day long. You like me, right? So web helping me should outweigh any short-term dealing he might have done with Toonyman to help me.
I get it, ToonyMan's just such a tempting execution target, but ToonyMan is a terrible execution on Day 1 for multiple reasons, the least of which is that he's a lot better at killing his teammates than not, but also, I think he's legitimately trying to find scum.  I think you and him clash on ideas and methodology, like... every game.  Which is disappointing.

Ninja
Oh my fucking god, VOTE ME INSTEAD OF TOONYMAN.

JUST FUCKING VOTE ME!  WE SHOULD NOT VOTE TOONYMAN HOLY FUCKING SHIT I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS HAS TO BE A WHOLE THING!

It's possible that it's sofa, Crystal, Fal, I don't like the insistence on ToonyMan and not picking a side here.  I think sofa is always scum here, Crystal could reasonably pull off shielding sofa or accidentally protecting, but those three together makes the most sense based on the vote spread.

I fully agree that since nobody will vote Toony, my vote on him is effectively useless. I'm still making it, though. Last game, I called out web as scum, pointed out his behavioral changes from Day 1, but nobody listened, and lo and behold he was a cult leader. Just because nobody wants to vote Toony doesn't mean he isn't scum.
OK but what about the webadict/sofanthiel/CM situation?

sofanthiel has been exploding all day. I feel like if he was scum, his team would keep a tighter leash on him. webadict has been generally helpful aside from the emerald obsession, but ToonyMan likes him, so he's probably scum. Crystalizedmire I need to think more about.

'm afraid this is the last post I'll be able to make before sunset (after that, who knows what awaits us all?).  As it currently stands, I will keep my vote firmly stationed on webadict.  We could've arrived at a different outcome, but his unwillingness to cooperate or even respond to my proposal further cemented my stance.  I bid you all adieu! :)
So, this is pretty much an admission that sofa is scum.
Okay, since you're not ToonyMan, I might actually be able to get an answer out of you.

Why does this mean he's scum?
Which proposal do you believe they didn't get a response to?  As far as I can tell, this is a "fuck it" type of post.

Elephant, I think sofa, Crystal, Imp is too easy, but I only partially remember Armed Forces from the bits I read, and I'm too tired and lazy to read it.
I agree, but I don't want to overlook Imp just because they play weirdly.
True, which is why if I die, execute them.

You are functionally useless by not picking a side.  ToonyMan isn't getting voted Today.

Hey Toony, are you sure we can't execute Imp?  They might not be scum, but they're completely useless.  Just one little execute, they'd totally deserve it.
