I understand the problems that a new boatmurdered would cause, and i'm not talking about trying to re-create absolutely everything the same. I just want to bring together a bunch of our freaky, crudely hilarious, witty internet personalities to manage a fortress together, annually, so that we can all scream at having our beautifully planned bedrooms turned into Magma Pits of Death.

What would be even funnier, is if somebody started a megaproject, and didn't write anything (but cryptic obscure references) to what it is, and it would change from user to user, much like chinese whispers (no direct racism intended), and then we'd all gather together what everyone thought it was. And by funny, i mean not boring.

Looking over the previous paragraph, it may be difficult to understand, but hey, those who got it know what I mean. There's got to be someone out there L33T enough to stand in StarkRavingMad's shadow, and we're internet rugrats, so we all already assume that we are.

Hanyway. I reckon that if we were to have a suitable amount of caverns and caves on a map, it could work.

We could plead with toady to make us a perfect map, or any other person with advanced C++ knowledge.

For all of those familiar with the chronicles of Boatmurdered... wow. For those who aren't, http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Boatmurdered/intro.html

It's actually an amazingly good read.. and the end is so hilariously sad. But anyway, i propose that we do another one, with the xyz axis DF, with the newer, cleaner, and less likely to have elephant rampage DF. 40d. or the one that toady is going to finish in 2012, cos everyone knows it's way too huge an update to chuck into one.
(Note: Toady, i understand that you don't want to break save compatibility more than you have to, but honestly, with the amount of suspense that's going around on this really, really, really huge update, you should have just done a Starcraft II with it.)
Anyway. We should make another boatmurdered, with a newer DF, on the official bay12games forum. Anyone interested?

I agree and disagree.

I don't want to have piles of {loamy sand} sitting around my fortress and being useful. However if we could extend that and use piles of sand as well as sand collected in order to make glass, it sounds slightly feasible.

ok, so is everyone in agreement:

1. That we should be able to give animal caretakers and trainers the ability to put (large) armor on bears, and arm them with whatever bears can (or really would need to) carry.

(N.B. My bad, topic swerving. Back to it...)

2. That by agreeing to give dwarves the "right to bear arms" we aren't americanising DF with their constitutional problems, and therefore must give the user the "ability to tell a dwarf to bear arms", which could just be made into a militia force.

3. That we need to make two handed weapons.

4. That blacksmiths should want gauntlets (leather or up) for their job.

5. That a dwarf with the ability to bear arms on, should ideally go for a weapon that suits their proffession - and if there is none, find an available weapon - and if there is none, pick up a rock. Until further notice- until further notice and so on and so forth.

6. That bears should be trainable as warbears - same with dragons and cougars and leapords etc.

Yes. That giving dwarves the right to arm bears is AWESOME.

Yea or Nay it them at your leisure :p

Honestly... I think that vampires would be cool, and it would fit in with the DF universe. However... if we made them, maybe instead of being inhibited by sunlight, make them not like it, and give them sickness like it does dwarves, and then make them strong enough so that they are like a goblin to a kobold to their parent race. And then you could put them in evil biomes. But do you ever see dwarven or elven zombies?

p.s.
Perhaps make them more succeptable to fire once we get some explosives and ignitives in DF.

i think it should simply be that there is a certain thing that cures a certain thing. i.e. snakeman venom cures most poisons (the doctor makes a deriving antivenom). Therefore when the patient goes to the barracks/hospital whatever, the doctor will have a text, the same as strange mood, saying this.

... leeches are the god of medicine. They are not dangerous, they have no malaria or ross rvr fever. They were origionally used during poison and infection therapy, drawing "the bad blood out", the leeches would then be removed via salt, to prevent regurgitation of blood.
