anyway. i like the idea of adventurers attacking a fortress.
however, does this also mean that with the new world mechanics, you'll be competing against other adventurers for missions?

I've got an idea
what if, however, canons have the benefit of being the same as catapults, i.e. built on a site. They'll be 1 metal ball, 1 bar of coal, saltpeter, etc each fire, and will decimate anything in a line from it.

this means it will take twice as long as a catapult to load, because two components are needed, without those components being stones found everywhere.

It'll cost more to build and use

and it'll friendly fire.

Any comments?

But then you'd have to put in type of armor, and possibly quality, i.e. dents and lumps...

i was just thinking that steel axe will rebound off steel plate, 40% of the time

steel maul will rebound off steel plate 70% of the time, but rebounding stops less damage and causes more damage to armor, (as in the hammer will cave in the armor)

bolt will rebound off steel plate 97% of the time. (hits will only be criticals, hits in joints, hits in gaps, etc. and do very little damage to the armor.

how about immediate stabbing, or throwing, or blowdarting of the dwarves able to see him, and once no dwarves can see him, he returns to invisibility.

i.e. Rogue sneaks into nobles quarters, rogue is discovered by noble, noble dies, royal guards rush to nobles room, NOBODY THERE!

however, i'd also like, say if he has a racial discrimination, i.e. at war with kobolds, then he could demand something made out of kobold bones.

yeah... i wish that tower caps would grow in any underground muddy tile though, i hate having to get a map with an underground river, just to get siege wood.

how about we just make it "big fish, little fish" mechanics.

i.e. a small fortress would be an easy hit, so the little fish, as in useless adventurers, would have a go at it.

As the fortress gets more prosperous and more well known, it attracts the attention of big fish, which go for the fortress to make them rich. The little fish avoid the fortress because it'd be too hard to attack, and they don't want to get eaten by the big fish.

Little fish can also team up with other little fish, which increases the rating to make their school classed as a "big fish", therefore you could have parties of champions attacking your super mega awesome fortress of doom.

sorry for the horrible analogy.

how about you just add in "deflect" as a rating too. i.e. plate armor has a high deflect rating, so it takes less damage from attacks, if there isn't a critical. and it has a chance to completely skim away enemy attacks, at a cost to wear and tear.

Therefore, chain, which has links to hold an attacking weapon has absolutely no deflect rating.

leather would be pretty low too, unless it's studded, with gems or something.
