Yeah apparently France didn't handle the refugees so well.

But at least they tried I guess.

And I'm curious who and what you predicted about the bad guy. It's obvious to me since I already read the story, but beyond what's already been revealed I would be surprised if anyone not familiar with the series had predicted much, even with the additional bit of foreshadowing that wasn't in the books.

Also I just watched the first episode of redhead harem party tutor anime quintuplets. Can't remember the japanese name.
Pretty cute all told

Plus thematic decisions. The bleak 'it's mundanes against the magical' feeling is kind of busted wide open when you can recruit necromancers.

I'm actually really loving Kaguya. It's got the Hayate-esque narrator (except with less fourth-wall breaking), and a weirdly high animation budget for a slice of life- although I guess that's all money they seem to save on backgrounds, 'cos it mostly happens in the one room.

While I'm on it- Winter Anime Crunchyroll Go-
(I mention crunchyroll only because I haven't been able to see Dororo)

Mob Psycho II - More of the goodness. It'll tide me over until OPM2 comes out. Things seem to get a little bit more dangerous for him, which is cool.
Neverland- Thriller/horror. quite pretty, good shock value, but it's not subtle. Gets predictable pretty quickly, but who knows.
Black Clover - It's still going. I pushed through the first 20 episodes and so now it's gone through tolerable and up to good, so I guess I'll keep watching.
Boogiepop prequel-  I'm watching them one chapter at a time, but the first chapter was awesome. Spoopy Monogatari vibes.
Shield Hero- Awesome start, but ehhhh..

So yeah, I could write a whole paragraph on Shield Hero's disappointment. It started with a reasonably bleak premise "Protagonist gets screwed over". Dude is poor, unknowledgeable and unable to trust anyone. Which was the perfect setup for something log-horizon-esque. He finds out some interesting things about the game world and the races which dwell within it. Also, he's the only one who read it in a book instead of playing it in a video game so he doesn't have a bundle of preconceptions about the way things 'should' work.

But those expectations quickly went out the window as it turned into a typical isekai. No twists of imagination or intelligent management of a fantasy system - instead he starts lucking out and gains friends he can rely on, the 'bad guy' quickly becomes overtly obvious, both in who it'll be and how it'll happen.
That aside it is actually a great isekai, I think I just had my expectations raised by the Re-zero-esque start and now things are just starting to get too formulaic.

I still occasionally see the 'slammed in the ass by dead philosophers' sig and feel... happy? disappointed? aroused?
I'm unsure.

To be fair it probably was spam. Games got a lotta chaff.

Or just give her the recipe so you don't have to cook it :p
Honestly this. She might remember she said that and is changing it up. Maybe she sees your suffering and thinks having a nice night having your favourite dish might perk you up a little.

Can’t hurt to look at it optimistically. It’s unlikely that one Taco recipe is the thing she needs before she runs away to start a new life for herself.

But yeah, have had similar experiences with housemates. Essentially I just put my foot down, went “Hey I’m gonna cut the chicken, but you need to cut the vegetables”. Even on a mince taco, best thing is to share the load, rather than delegate it all away. ‘Course, that requires knives, boards, and counter space for two.

I think that’s why the store got featured. It’s got a back area with about eight to twelve tables normally.
We’ve put three tables together before for that 6x12 apoc goodness and it took up maybe a third of the play area.

IIRC for a while after it had first opened you needed to pay membership in order to access it, but somewhere around 6th Ed they dropped that.

Just saw that my regular store (Yes, I do live in Brisbane) is now going to be a Warhammer World-lite.

Interesting stuff actually as they recently had a change in management followed by the new manager being somewhat abrasive, if not incompetent, and a large number of the regulars all leaving. I'm wondering if this announcement was financially motivated.

Also why they didn't just plonk it on the west coast of America, but hey.

Good ol' Japanese Napolitan.

Pasta, Ketchup and sliced hot dogs.
Best ration food ever made.

Just walk everywhere with a steel broom and give it the shuf-shufs on your daily route.

Sure it’ll take ten times as long and break you, but on the plus side the pavement is slightly safer for the next twenty seconds.

Saying “hey careful about throwing X phrase around” is a perfectly acceptable thing to say IMO. Not sure where the problem comes from.

Trying to talk diet with a friend at work. She’s very... let’s say “fad-ish”.
Recently saw a YouTube video which said Soy causes lethargy, to which I replied “but a vegetarian diet can cause the same sort of thing, right?”

That was not the right thing to say. I tried to explain a bunch of things about energy density and carnivores, and the rule of 10, but yeah. Once she’s heard something she doesn’t like, she shuts down on the whole conversation.
Annoying as fuck. I was trying to say that there’s plenty of protein-dense plants, but trading out chicken for not-chicken is ultimately going to result in less energy, regardless of whether or not the non-chicken is made from soy. She thought I meant that vegetarians are all idiots.
Little miscommunications eh.

I really hate that food is such a political topic that you need to double check everything to look for hidden motives. There are so damn many bullshit opinion pieces out there that it's a pain to find anything worth actually looking at, and then I get tired and fed up with the whole thing and go back to wallowing in blissful ignorance.
Context ninja. I was literally saying the exact same thing to her after googling “is meat more energy dense” and having red meat advocacy pages popping up everywhere. I want the science of cheetahs, not the politics of humans.
