Nice one Toady!

Back in 40d I had a human fort and even though I occasionally got alcohol from caravans and made a little I did have wells all over the place for them. They aren't alcohol dependant after all. So, very important. Still need to finish making humans playable for the latest version.

I'd like to see this possible in the vanilla game, I see no reason why it shouldn't be added. Has Toady ever mentioned why the 22 limit is in place?

Once a character has been defined, you cannot just go changing the core apperance and traits of said character.
I'd say only if his race is integral to the character or story. A white Malcolm X would be a bit strange. I was pleasantly surprised at Will Smith's portrayal of Robert Neville in I am Legend even if it betrayed it's own title in the end thus ruining the film for me.

edit to add: I don't know if Peter Parker's race is integral to his character, I've not read the comics.

DF Modding / Re: Quck Question: Do traders bring new reaction items?
« on: June 03, 2010, 01:59:43 am »
It's not exactly what you are looking for but you can get custom extracts from traders. I had different preserves/jams (in glass vials) in the last version and they worked fine.

Nice story. I especially like how the forgotten beast got across the lake.

Okay so how do you play this on the DS? I didn't see any instructions on the site.

There are some on the about page, just scroll down to "How to Install" and "Nintendo DS Version". You will need a Flash cart to run any homebrew on the DS, I use an M3 DS Simply but there are likely better ones around right now. You may need to DLDI patch it to allow highscores and saves to work, this really depends on your flashcart as some do it automatically, here is a nice DLDI Tutorial.

Hopefully the rest should be pretty straightforward.

DF Suggestions / Re: Easy and intuitive SAND physics suggestions

Nice animations. Toady has mentioned wanting sand and this seems like a nice way to allow piles of sand. He has also mentioned piles of bones/skulls but dev_single is down at the moment. I'd like to see piles of coins done in a similar way.

I have this on my DS right now, I like it because it's portable and for some reason I get along with some games better while on the go rather than at my PC. Unfortunately I am not very good at it.

They're looking really good Deon. Nice work. Are all dwarves going to be bald? I don't think they need hair (just look at my avatar).

DF Suggestions / Re: How organ injuries should work...

It's typical to find war hammers depicted like that in fantasy. I tend to get the impression fantasy artists didn't do their homework as war hammers should be piercing weapons with a sharp tip.

General internal bleeding and trauma from blunt weapons really needs to be put in

Breaking bones through armour and similar really does need to work. Even striking an armoured foe with a sword should break bones and cause other internal damage.

General Discussion / Re: Happiness... Or Freedom?

Given that I still had freedom of thought I don't know if I could be completely happy without a reasonable degree of freedom in life.

I have wanted a game like this since I started playing H&H. I have no experience with Byond though.

Deon has done a good job on sprites so far and I don't want to step on his toes but I'd like to help out with some pixeling. It's been a long time since I've done much and I'll have to see if I can match the style. Is there a to do list for sprites?

There was a little talk of levelling and skills a while back. I'd like to see DF style skill levelling with caps at legendary plus a few hidden legendary levels higher perhaps. Caps can be unpopular but it keeps things semi-realistic and removes the advantage for those who have nothing but free time. It also fits better with having capped quality for crafted items like in DF.

Happy birthday Head and good work everyone involved.
