I've agressively PoI'd it.

Doing so caused me to notice that we need more craftsdwarf shops, more ammo stockpiles, and more bins to assist the bolt machine.


Also, we may want to fallow all the fields. We've got enough food to last years, even without cooking booze.

EDIT: some wall sections are suspended, and others need to be built once trees in the way are chopped down.

Huh, might just give this a shot. I'm usually pretty good about the legendary dining rooms, so i might try skipping them in some of my forts.

Well, an amazingly boring year is over, though the sacrificing is not yet complete. However, the lord CPU is well-pleased, and has granted us an FPS of 11-15.

Seriously, that was some pretty bad FPS I was getting. I’ve prepared an Atom Smasher to deal with our excess stone. Once the mechanics link it up, designate it as a dump and wait. Also, there’s a large hunk of molten rock hanging 1 tile north of the stray disposal square.


You'll need to do the map, the compressor doesn't work for me.

Actually, i'm wiping out the dogs too. There are just too many of them, and it's not like we need wardogs.

Seems the aquatic tag isn't needed, the burning will be completed soon. FPS has already risen by 4-8.

Is it okay if i make horses, cats, and such [aquatic] to hasten the FPS lowering?

Also, i made dwarves [speed:0] to hasten the stray extermination effort, so remember to turn that off when orcs show.

9th slate

Got some new arrivals, filled out the ranks of the fortress guard and made some dwarves into royal guards, as well as adding a few new dwarves to the military proper.

14th hematite

Traded with the humans, giving them a small profit margin

1st sandstone

Not much has been happening. I traded with the dwarves for food and bolts.

21st moonstone

Small goblin ambush. Have mobilized entire military to reduce cave adaption

12th opal

Huh, seems we might get a whole year without a siege

16th opal

Other, lesser, forts have food shortages. We have stockpile space shortages

17th opal

I’ve begun a massive expansion of the overfort, with plans to leave the central complex as a final defense. Alternately, I may make the central complex the entry to the rest of the overfort. The underfort is still far, far larger, especially with the new stockpile space expansions I’m digging.

Seriously, we've got over 10000 units of food and booze, plus over 1000 seeds. At some point we should probably admit that we have too much food and stop the farms. Or not.

Having assumed control, I have decided to form a fortress guard for preserving internal safety in the event of mass rioting, and to serve as a secondary military force. They will also properly discipline dwarves for failing to meet noble mandates. I have begun constructing a simple jail to reduce beatings and hammerings.

19th granite

The elves arrived. I took all their stuff.

21st granite

Goblin ambushers have killed a ranger. Fort is now in partial lockdown and three champions have been mobilized.

23rd granite

We have a legendary weaponsmith too!

Yeah, I'll make the orcs tougher, just need to track down the old boosts.

Meanwhile, i think it's time to mass produce iron short swords and crossbows.

I've been playing with the orc mod. It makes things truly difficult sometimes, especially with the old deathquest adaptions on local leaders. Also, pissing off the humans can make things difficult, because horse-archers are like unto death.

We've been stupidly lucky with ranged local leaders this game. Only one lives if you don't count the human one, the one that lives is kobold and therefore hardly matters, and neither of the two that arrived were able to do any shooting at our champions.

On the other hand, that demon might show up sometime.

You know, i think it may already be time for the upgrading of the orcs. That one champion who died pretty much demolished the entire squad, starting with the leader.

I'm just going to summerize the happenings of the year. We stole the elven caravan's stuff, and made fine iron armor for the champions, as well as finally fixing up the would-be marksdwarves. In summer, the human caravan arrived. During the trading there was a goblin ambush, which, for some reason i'm unclear on, was hard to rally the champions to fight. This lead to a tantrum destroying the trade depot, somthing i didn't realize until the dwarven caravan arrived and failed to trade.

During autumn, we had the first goblin seige. They were handily wiped out by the champions. When winter hit, the goblins came with three squads that also got thrown back in bloody death, shortly followed by a trio of orc squads, led by three local leaders, including the elite sniper. Gladly, the elite sniper turned out to have forgotten his bolts. One of the champions got dogpiled after slaughtering half a group of orc carvers lead by an orc hammerlord. Another one was crippled with three bolts in him after attacking some snipers lead by a swordmaster, but i managed to rescue him.
