Maybe anything that kills a megabeast, local leader, or elite military, or any legendary creature, should get a name and a value boost.
So my masterwork adamantine sword, that killed seven dragons, several entire towns, and a whole bunch of other megabeasts would be worth millions of ☼'s?
Otherwise, I like this idea.

Well, by legendary i mean things with at least 1 noteable kill, which narrows the field some.

The brain removal thing just makes them flash red + signs. it isn't an instant kill.

I don't know, actually. every race seems to have recruits as local leaders. my bet would be that they're legendary other thingies, but listed as recruits despite being able to kill chaos lords with backpacks. (i'm not kidding, that actually happened.) alternately they may be elite non-goblins.

Multiplayer adventure mode would be easiest. no lag issues, because it's TB.

Entry one:  This fort has a terribly bizarre layout. It also has a giant bat circling.

Entry two: There are numerous siege operators of various skill levels, but no siege machines, engineers, or workshops. There is a long story behind this. i don't want to know it. However, there is now a legendary weaponsmith in the fort. I gave the artifact crossbow to one of the spine-damaged wrestler champions.

Entry three: There is no fortress guard here. A TRAVESTY!

Entry four: There is now. Not as large as it ought to be, but existent nevertheless. Also, I resolved the shortage of siege weapons. One day there will be dwarves who can handle a ballista.

Entry five: the giant bat attacked. It is named murkchunks now.

Entry six: The bat is dead, but so are four dwarves. They will be forgotten

Entry seven: well, time’s up for me. We traded with the humans. And got some stuff. There is also a project underway to find out if there is any adamantine available.

Really? i have no such problems. though i hear that you need inside meeting areas or you will get screwy behavior, and i'd bet on duty military troops have similar problems.
