Not sure if friends are dead, or playing league of legends.

Same thing.

Watching this debate now(a couple of days after the last one i posted)

Romney really looks like hes falling apart here, he seems to be resorting to partisan politics because the other guys are, or their supporters are. He should have risen above it like he 'apparently' said he would.

Sounds like its Triage time. Ditch the stressing, and just keep doing what you can to tackle the most important things. You can fuss over the other bits as you can. Good luck!

I spent some time doing my civic duty to get educated regarding the upcoming American election. Without TV, I've been a bit out of the loop, regarding following debates, etc... which I feel I've somewhat resolved. Also, though I'm once again unsure how I feel about Ron Paul, I'm finding the whole Media Blackout on him more than a bit troubling... in fact, it bothers me a lot.

Jon Stewart, for all his foibles, did a damned good spot on this. Ignore the sensationalist title of the Youtube video, and give it a watch if you care to... it's pretty ridiculous, and heaps ever more doubt onto the paper-thin integrity of our available national news services. I'm pretty cynical, and even I find it hard to believe.

EDIT: Stance notwithstanding, I'm glad to see the audience was able to override CNN's repeat skipping of his chance to answer questions.

Quick note, I think gingrich has a point on the outset. A Presidents personal life has never had a negative effect on his ability to do his job. In fact the presidents who did have personal problems come into the media, such as Clinton, were some of the best presidents the USA has had.
I think with Gingrich, people mistake a potential president for a celebrity, as far as im concerned a presidential candidate should debate the issues, not how he runs his marriage.

On Ron Paul... while I disagree with a great many things he says(but also agree with alot too), he is the only person ive seen talking about american politics who doesn't look like an absolute twit.
I see his logic, I see his reasoning, it's not just propaganda or misguidance like most of them do. It's bottled down to plain belief, either you agree or you don't.

I haven't kept up with American politics much lately, i'm just watching this debate to see what they all think(being british), but these are my two thoughts after watching the first video and the beginning of the debate.

*also I'd like to say, they really pulled together with gingrich to change the issue. They could have taken pot shots but none really did. Kept it clean.

**Difference from the UK, the American politicians when talking about the unemployed dont base everything on the idea that 'unemployed are lazy', they base it on the poor economy, which is exactly why people are unemployed.
It does feel like the conservative Americans are more honest about capitalism than the British, the British cons blame unemployment on lazy citizens because 'the economy is fine obviously!!' while they fire thousands and worsen the economy and reduce retraining schemes. Even the left do this in Britain. Because its popular to bash the unemployed over regulation of industry, way to kick a man when hes down to support the middle class vote.

Rape is being revealed by study to be less about sex itself and more about anger, feelings of inadequacy, and power over someone else.  It's a constellation of psycho-sexual frustration, and Virex saying that rapists are 'just normal dudes' is a really uninformed and sort of inexcusable thing to say.

Edit:  Here's Virex's quote from a few pages back:

Quote
One of the main thing people are always forgetting is that rapists are normal men, not some rabid savages that need education.

Normal dudes cam suffer from anger, feelings of inadequacy and powerlessness. Your and Virex' statements are not dichotomic in any way.

Then they should stop playing league of legends.

I know this might be a stupid idea, but it is on the DF forum, so here goes.

Why not forgo the graphics, the source engine crap the UI and make a Ascii car builder?

I'm sure this would be infinitely easier though still difficult and time consuming. But still, design cars, parts of an engine, stick engine in car, rocket, plane, cylinder with no controls.

I'd love such a game.

Now some prick in my English  class is making racist jokes. And another just drew a penis on a whiteboard. Why am I surrounded by juvenile idiots?

Because you are in high school?
Pretty much.

Obvious reason is obvious.

Hunger Lock sucks... maybe boost food priority if one person is starving?  Maybe food making is the only thing they do when hungry (at a loss off efficiency), and of course, they eat what they make.

I second this, I think its probably the worst 'bug' there is. If you run out of food its game over, even if you have the ability to make food quickly, in my experience anyway.

I get about 400kb/s on steam at best, any torrent with 5 or 10+ seeders I get at least 500kb/s frequently rising to 1mb/s.

Steam isn't even trying it seems.

It's not that steams servers are crappy it's how torrents work deadmeat.

on a normal server you have one "band" that downloads to and from yoru computer. hence "bandwidth" on how much you can download at a time.

a torrent relies on multiple bands to downland one file. each band being seeded by another user. Hence why everyone wants you to seed when you torrent a file. becasue if there was only one band it would go just as slow as a regular download if not slower due to the fact your conencting through the other users ISP which could be anywhere from dialup to fiberoptic. with steams severs they have a corporate connection which almost guarantees more speed than an average user. The reason it's slow is becasue they give you a certain bandwidth so other people can download too.

What all this really means is, steams servers aren't really up to the job.
No, it doesn't, and no, they don't really cap it. It just means you happen to be far away and/or have a terrible connection to their servers. On RIT's internet, I get download speeds of at a bare minimum of 1 MB/s, usually around the 5MB/s to 7 MB/s range. That your speeds are lower is a result of you having lower quality internet service. The only reason a torrent would be faster would be due to the uploaders being more local, which is a fundamental problem of your connection, not Steam's servers.

Maybe steam should do some peer to peer servers?

Bottom line, pirate download beats steam download more often than not. I don't know why this is even an argument.
This isn't a hypothetical, or a question, or an argument to be had.
This is a I get better speeds pirating games I've bought than using Steam servers. Period.
*This is also the case for all people I know.
