DF Modding / Re: Runesmith - A DC like tool

Everything ok now?

So far so good! I'm greatly enjoying the util, and I'm passing the time figuring out what the different flags do when toggled. Fun Fact: Checking the 'Dead' flag on a living creature does not just kill them, it literally eliminates them from existance! No body left, no inventory items, and completely missing on the 'U' screen.

hopefully you add in the ability to change the race of creatures.
OMG! ULTIMATE PESKY NOBLE SOLUTION! No need to expend the effort on trap rooms!

DF Modding / Re: making dwarf children grow up faster

Having such short childhoods seems a bit too much like cheating [BABY:1], [CHILD:4] is short enough for me.

Oddly it's working now, out of the blue. Phew.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Tileset/ no tileset poll

*clicks no*
Well I have to say I'm surprised by how few players play vanilla graphics.

It sounds like you guys have the wrong creature vector. DF usually has between 1 and 4 creature vectors at a time, only 1 of which is kept up to date frame-to-frame. Either that, or it's something new entirely and will take some disassembly work to figure out.
Sorry I really don't understand that, is it fixable by someone with minimalnon-existent coding experience?  :-[

DF Modding / Re: Stonesense - Official thread
« on: June 21, 2010, 09:57:16 am »
I double checked... I ran DF in admin mode, I ran Stonesense in admin mode, I had my fort loaded up and on the screen, and I still get 'Stonesense has stopped working' immediately upon running the .exe

A blank window pops up titled 'Allegro' and then seconds after the 'Stonesense has stopped working' window pops up.

Does it have anything to do with where the DF and/or Stonesense folders are located on my computer?

Edit - I am using the most current DF (.6) and I have the SDL version, not legaacy

Have you tried changing the render in the init file? The default is OpenGL, but i think it might be worth a shot trying DirectX or software rendering too.

Edit: Here's a Memory.xml that should work with .08 and .07 (untested)
Tried that memory xml, still get the flashing screen after hitting f9.

:/ nope, doesn't work with other saves. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted.

38
Maybe it's because I tried modding dogs to have shells in that save...

39
I'm getting a message saying that either DF is not running or has been closed even though it is running and in game, what's more odd is I've only started having the problem today, I'm using DF .08 and I've updated the ini for .08. It was working fine last night.

'either dwarf fortress isn't running or you have unloaded your game'

Would a new recruit be welcome? I fancied joining a community/succession, saw this, though 'Caveravens, huh? Awesome name'. Being able to join in on the first migrant wave would be cool, if it's ok with you guys? While I'm by no means an expert, I have played on/off since 2006.

DF Announcements / Re: Dwarf Fortress 0.31.08 Released
« on: June 20, 2010, 06:46:57 pm »
.08 crashed when I used the look command and tried to move the cursor over a refuse stockpile.

Try with a fresh download or something......

I modded dogs to have shells and apparently doing that after world gen is a bad idea so maybe that's the cause.

It's an incredibly awesome utility with huge potential, so if possibility of bugs freaks you out then get ready for sleepless nights, 'cos I reckon interest is only going to grow.

The possibility of a military of infinitely leveled dwarves is very enticing :P

No, I'm on latest, I just confused, sorry. I was doing the skill editing wrong, trying to write 'Legendary [15]' instead of just '15' XD
