Vibrator added to game
...Personally, I-
To re-derail the topic: I wasn't around for the anti-massager debate, but I have a question: Was there more than one Puritan Extremist in the against side of the debate? I mean really, how sexually repressed do you have to be to object to a sexual aid in a game about bloody murder? Or did they somehow miss the flying guts when they gave a dog a shotgun blast?  ::) /rant

...guess I'll just show myself out now.

Parents have started drinking again. Mom's had bypass surgery and now gets drunk on a single glass of wine but refuses to recognize her limits have changed. Dad's been told by the doctor to stop drinking alcohol or he'll die. They were finally off it for a couple months but now the wine's come back.

Want to get rid of all the alcohol in the house but have nobody to give it away to. Nothing I can do without being treated as a villain.

Yes. Well. I ran out of bullets. And rocks.

Annoying thing is I'd actually taken a couple surprise turret blasts to the face earlier on without losing more than 1/5 health from it, so I thought I was at least bullet resistant. Except this time it took me from nearly full health to dead in a single turn.

Oh well. C'est la mort.

Turns out that a kevlar trenchcoat and time dilation powers do not, in fact, make one immune to bullets.

RIP, cyborg-wizard guy.  :(

Nintendo's shutting down their online servers for DS in permanently in just over 12 hours! D:

I need to fill around 90 download song slots in my copy of Daigasso DX before that happens or I'll lose the chance to forever!

I should've been a bit clearer; basically any online play or interactions for every original DS and Wii game is now gone, since they pulled the servers down. Because they're too old/Nintendo wants people to buy new stuff.

I ended up managing to fill around 50 of the 100 slots, which is pretty good since I only had 6 before that. Game was Daigasso! Band Brothers DX which was the original Japanese incarnation of something called "Jam with the Band". It's a fun music game where people create special midis and then you play all the instrument parts with the buttons, basically. This version worked by having a huge constantly-updated database of songs submitted by people and maintained by Nintendo that you could download. However, due to strict copyright shenanigans it had the built-in restriction that you could only download 100 songs to a cartridge ever, and never delete any that you'd already downloaded (you could preview them before downloading, of course). So I ended up procrastinating a ton just in case someone ended up uploading a better version of my favourite animu opening than the one that was already there. But now the song server's gone, and I know I inevitably missed a lot of good tracks.

Additional sad for today is that the only reason I managed to download as many as I did was because I was up until 5 a.m. with food poisoning or something, puking violently about once an hour. I think it's slowing down now, but I thought that at a few points today. Can't sleep for more than a couple hours because my body's passively hurting and it wakes me up.

Quick question for people:
I usually use the default (small) window size. Is there any way to scroll down on individual item pages? Stuff with long descriptions, like guns, get cut off, but any key I've tried to scroll down seems to exit the page instead.

Also, any way to scroll down on the list of equipped items? I can only have 17 items visible in the list before I need to start taking off clothes in order to repair stuff further down.

(Still using 0.A stable if it matters)

Re: Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies

Welcome to the entertaining world of Mockbusters. :P There's a company called The Asylum that specializes entirely in making incredibly shitty movies with titles close enough to actual popular movies that people pick them up by mistake, thinking they're getting the other one. This is actually their business plan.

Includes such gems as:
Snakes on a Train
Transmorphers: Fall of Man
The Da Vinci Treasure
AVH: Alien vs. Hunter
The Day the Earth Stopped

There's a full list on their wiki page including which movies they're ripping off.

Well, my new challenge character that I made to bust out of my base/hoarding gameplay slump has been very interesting so far. The rules I set for myself were just: a) No creating stashes, and b) No sleeping more than one night in a given building, ever. Having to rely on only what you can carry certainly makes for more interesting decisions. I also turned on IntCap skill rust as opposed to leaving it off altogether.

The most fun part has actually been rather unexpected. I actually intended to make this guy not mutation-based for once, so decided to forego Robust Genetics. Right out of the shelter, though, I found some dead scientists with a mutagen, which I knocked back and scored... Unstable Genetics. So my wanderer has been slowly but inevitably turning into some kind of...cow? With fangs, apparently. He's gained 5 strength and hooves and just recently sprouted moose antlers.

I'm really enjoying it from a sort of RP perspective. It's one thing intentionally mutating yourself, but another thing altogether to be constantly mutating out of your control. He's found and used a couple purifiers, which took the edge off some of the nastier things (lost light sensitive and, temporarily, ponderous) but without losing Unstable Genetics the poor guy's in a losing battle for his humanity. I've finally located a lab on the other side of the town to tackle as a mid-term goal to hunt for more purifiers.

Should also mention that I found a Nodachi in somebody's basement, so my unintentional minotaur-in-training is clopping around with a trenchcoat and giant katana. While wearing slightly cracked sunglasses. Real cool until you remember the moose antlers.

I enjoy this game. :P

Yeesh. I know breeds that get up to around waist level/120ish lbs have it bad already in terms of health issues, I don't even want to think about what dogs that big have to deal with.

Having looked into Irish Wolfhounds quite a bit, that would be: heart problems (from having to work so hard to pump blood around), bone cancer (because their leg bones/skeletons grow so fast) and "gastric torsion". Their average lifespan is 7 years. You kinda have to go into it prepared to accept that only living 5-6 years isn't uncommon.

Beautiful dogs though. :(

...I don't see why learning about the existance of gay marriage requires knowing the ins and outs of sex any more than normal marriage?

Pretty sure little kids get naive impressions of regular heterosexual marriage too. Declaring they want to marry their best friend from school because they're best friends forever etc. Unless "GAY = BAD" for other reasons it doesn't need to be a big deal any more than nongay marriage is. Which is exactly what people are pushing for, here.

I still don't know if having a webcomic places any duty on you, to be fair. Duty is doing your job or what is expected of you and can affect other people, and webcomics are, instead, a creative project, and a side project at that. A webcomic brings nothing more than fun, and is born from said fun, if it doesn't update on schedule then nobody's going to suffer.

Writing Goblins is, in fact, his full-time job since 2008. Main source of income and all that.

It looks like I'm not the only person getting screwed by their employer. My sister's job seems to be refusing to pay her.
That's always fun.

I remember when an employer asked us all to hold off till Monday on cashing our paychecks (prior to direct deposit). I think most us began shopping our resumes around that afternoon.

In my one (awful) past experience with proper employment, I was lucky if I'd get my paycheck sooner than 2 weeks after the payday.

It was apparently my responsibility to personally meet with the finance person to recieve it, despite the fact that they worked irregular hours one day a week when I wasn't in, weren't allowed to answer the phone, and their email address couldn't be shared for privacy reasons.

Cue boss chewing me out for not cashing it by the end of the month, despite my best efforts.

Someday I'll get an Irish Wolfhound and it'll be the biggest dog to make up for all the dogs I never got to have. But it's a pipe dream for now and the forseeable future.
Just... get a mutt for your first dog. Or two. Or five. Or all of them. They tend to last live longer, have less health problems, and have better personalities than purebreds. I've had both and, well. The mutts have had a better record. Not to say the purebreds did badly -- I've had some excellent ones, over the years -- but the mutts did better on all counts.
Most likely will, unless I'm extremely lucky with future living arrangements. IWs are my dream dogs but they're notoriously short-lived and take a lot of...everything. Space, food, money.

Apart from that, though, I'd take a beautiful mutt over any other purebred breed.

I want a dog. So bad. ):

Never had one. I catch myself staring at other people's dogs when out walking because I'm jealous.
