Nadaka, some of that shit doesn't even have anything to do with shootings.  Banning religious symbols except for the cross and banning interracial dating, for one - I'm pretty sure that's illegal.  Most of the other stuff sounds dubious in legality, and still more of it down right unnecessary.  Why the hell do they need to worry about guns hidden in a backpack if the thing's already gone through a metal detector?

Sorry for the swearing, it's not directed at you, it's just that's one hell of a messed up school!

"Edit" What exactly are the rules? I noticed you set up a farm way down there.....from what I gathered, you couldnt do that. ???
That was the community floor.  Ground zero was his floor, I think.

Creative Projects / Re: DF: Reclaim Party [WarCraft 3 map development]

I never finished a map I made, and I couldn't do everything the people who made the more amazing maps did, but I have some experience with scripting, and could pull of some neat stuff.  I think I know how to do the fatigue thing, too.
I'd have to open up the editor and get a look at stuff, though.  I'll check back in a little while.

Hey, teachers can't punish us however they please.  They just get to punish us for whatever they please.  And they have to be able to justify it.

US school system isn't slavery, it's just stupidly giving school administrators the power to attempt to brainwash students by allowing them to have rules against holding certain opinions.  Pavlov's students, so to speak.

It doesn't always work the way Administrators want to, of course, because they all have different goals and different dispositions.  Some like free students, some are so strict that if nothing is being done wrong they feel they must make up rules to enforce.

I hear keeping stuff behind a locked door generally helps with moving items.  Never had much experience with it myself, though.

Would you be upset if I didn't know what LCS was?
Liberal Cloud Scream  ;D
Actually, it's Liberal Crime Squad.  Not looked to much into it myself.
So this next version will have the ability to save changes made to a site, right?

I don't even use computers at school.
I do know that the authoritarian fascist catholic scumbags who run the school do indeed give people long periods of isolation if they find you joining any facebook groups they disagree with.
"Students, having independent opinions?!  Lord preserve us!" :P
Let me guess, if you join a fan group of something like, say, the Simpsons or some fantasy game, you get in trouble?

. . . Yeah, I think I remember that.  But it wasn't just pandas, it was everything big that need tremendous space.  Definitely one of the things that makes the sequel better, that habitats aren't quite so rigid in their requirements.

I call this a Ryuuon:

Ignoring the awful background (except for the clouds), how does it look?
I myself am surprised at how those clouds came out, even though I know they aren't perfect.  I'm going to experiment with them more.

Edit:  I experimented with the clouds more.  That, and the background.  Still not too good, I don't think, but much better than the three streaks of blobby color in the first version.

A dwarf will get upset about the decay of a friend no matter how the body is destroyed; chasm, magma, you name it.  The only way to prevent the bad thought is from placing the body in a coffin.

Besides, a graveyard can't be designated over a bottomless pit.  A graveyard is a type of stockpile, and stockpiles require floors to rest on top of.

DF Modding / Re: Common Question: When do I need to generate a new world?
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:23:04 am »
so if i change the biome for a certain creature (ex: from [BIOME:ANY_TEMPERATE] to [BIOME:ANY_LAND]) will i have to regenerate a new world, or just re-embark?
Re-gen.  The game tracks creature populations by region, and consequently by biome.  If re-embarking changed it, you'd effectively transport the population data from one area to another - which I imagine could be messy, code-wise.

General Discussion / Re: Am I getting smarter... (Family Guy)
« on: February 22, 2010, 09:27:30 am »
What I dislike, though is that Simpson has started to adopt Family Guys tropes to some degree.
Yeah, I noticed that to.  One of the things I used to like about the Simpsons was the unpredictability of it, in spite of the events being linked in a reasonable and believable manner.  Now it's just plain unpredictable.  The zany plots don't have the same cleverness to them that they used to.

Also, they started using 3DCGI in the show.  In my experience, when a largely 2D animated show starts dabbling in that mid-series, they're already going downhill and are looking for a new gimmick to help revitalize it (which doesn't work).  This seems to be especially true when the CGI isn't all that good, relative to the quality of the 2D animation (which also seems to be the case with the Simpsons these days).

Play With Your Buddies / Re: Let's Play Spore!
« on: February 22, 2010, 08:55:09 am »
I don't know about those, but I will say you might want to establish your thread as not being for the discussion of Spore's quality as a game, because I can foresee a shitstorm if you don't.  Some people are very irrational about this game.

It also sounds like a neat idea, if hard to do.

On the earlier mention of vegimite:

I was at a meeting for a student trip to Australia this afternoon.  People brought in Australian food.  Someone brought crackers and vegimite.  I tried the vegimite first.  Then I ate pavlova and anzac biscuits.  Then I went back for another vegimite cracker.

Some of the other kids thought I was nuts.  But I liked the stuff.  I can see why people would be upset that a major corporation bought it.
