You can refit ships at shipyards. Move them into orbit over a planet with a shipyard big enough to service the ship, then go into the F2 screen, go to Shipyard Tasks, click the shipyard, down at the bottom click Refit in the drop down menu, and then select what ship you want to refit, and what you want to refit it to, and there you go.

The formula for how many layers of armor will be penetrated is n=√(w)-1, where n is the number of layers penetrated, and w is the warhead strength. So, for instance, warhead strength 4 will penetrate a single layer of armor and cause one point of damage to the next. To penetrate 2 layers of armor, you'd need warhead strength 9. Three, 16. Four, 25, and so on.

This game is pretty awesome. I've played for a day and my city has a population of over 500. Still haven't gotten off my homeworld though (which is actually a moon orbiting a gas giant).

Yes. In the weapons control window, up at the top right, there's an automatic point defense control setting.

I'm trying to download this game. Is ridiculously slow DL rates of something like 10 kb/s a norm?

When I play Aurora, I terraform every planet that a) has resources I need and b) would be relatively easy to terraform. I'd do the same to real planets.

To be frank, I don't really care about Pakistan's opinion. They should be thanking us for not just dropping a cruise missile on the complex.

Yay for fucking cowboy justice! That'll really enhance our repuation as champions of freedom and democratic ideals throughout the world.
I don't really think America's reputation could be damaged any further...

Seriously, most people I know seem to hate America.

Same here. Most of the people I know more than seem to hate America, they do hate it. They hate justice, freedom and everything America stands for. They just won't admit it, instead clinging to the twisted perversion of America. Michael Moore put it pretty succinctly last night in the Piers Morgan interview, but I can't find a transcription to quote.

... You seriously believe that people who are critical of America hate justice and freedom? I'm sorry, but were you dropped on your head as a child?

Well, I dreamt I was on Europa. I know it was Europa because I remember the mission control people calling it that. I was there with my space ship, which was broken for some reason, and tramping about checking out various stuff. And then they were like, we can't get anyone to you for 684 days (I remember that number specifically) and that I should try to do what I could to, you know, not die. And then I woke up.

Nono, Europa, not Europe.

I've never understood just why people see sex as a taboo or a bad thing or something disgusting to be hidden away and discussed in hushed tones. Sex is a wonderful, natural thing. It's silly to see it as somehow dirty.

Why do so many people believe Donkey Kong was responsible for 9/11?

(I know it actually stands for "don't know" but I couldn't resist)
My first thought when I saw "DK" was, "Denmark?"

As for the topic anyway, I think the ones that are more plausible/believable become "mainstream", whereas ridiculous things like 9/11 conspiracy hypotheses are ridiculed, as they should be.

The funniest thing I've read about the Pakistani intelligence services today was that they tried to claim it was a joint operation that took down bin Laden.

It's in times like these that I wish hell actually existed so that bin Laden could burn in it.
