Other Games / Re: How did you last *own*?

After much persistence and patience, I finally got myself a smartphone, freeing up my inventory immensely. Furthermore, I managed to finally take down the Moon Lord (fighting solo) after numerous attempts, and with my stockpile, managed to properly celebrate my victory by beating him a few more times with better gear (starting off with Summoner Gear). Really helps that the nurse kept reappearing on top of the teleporter, so she was in the arena with me keeping me healed as I fought.

EDIT:
Now to wrap up the game with some achievement hunting.

Poor Communication Kills is the trope I embody the most with things like this (yet ironically, I'm a much better communicator for jobs I sign up for when I freelance; Funny that.). As a result, everybody exploded; again, and again.

I'm giving myself the codename "Achilles's Heel" since I'm really that terrible at communicating in a group. Being a gamer that doesn't usually read game manuals (which naturally comes to bite me in the ass), and being teamed up with programmers and engineers (who can actually communicate with each other, no problem), I feel like I should wear a dunce cap everytime I play.

Games like this makes me wish I can pause time to think things through, and take my time to get my crap together, and hell, even rewind/backtrack time where statements are made and such; kinda like those magic stopwatches and such from fiction.

EDIT:
I don't know how much better I would fare being the one working with the bomb, however. Since I can see the big picture better than my siblings when we play, I would clear some of the lesser info ASAP first (# batteries, as much of the serial # possible (the main one, not other devices on the bomb), etc.) before I do ANYTHING involving puzzles/disarmings. Minimize the questions that need to be asked before anything gets touched.

By that observation, at least, my brothers aren't that much better at communicating than I am (they're more detail-oriented and smaller picture, which ends up needing more questions asked, since time is a luxury, this isn't efficient); or at least, the order of operations we go through are vastly different from one another. In this case, I'm more visually attuned and big picture, and would get the unchanging stuff away first when I describe stuff.

Managed to knock out a colony of Alpha and Gamma metroids ahead of time and under-equipped, and rather swiftly too. Battle environments were also pretty hostile too. Unintentional sequence break.

Played and beat the demo to AM2R. Incredible progress so far. Can't wait until it's completed. Have yet to encounter Omega Metroids.

In other news, my sister's throwing a BttF party tonight. So basically, we're dressing up as 80's-style 2015 people.

Just as well, I suppose it's as appropriate a time to make use of my backlogged BttF Telltale Adventure Games. On that note as well, I also tried Ghostbusters: The Game earlier, and it's actually not bad. Counts as an official Ghostbusters 3 for me so far, and still holds true to form with the classics, and even makes references to the classic animated series here and there too.

Ah, nothing like resisting killing a large spider (the usual routine; the killing, that is), and instead, attempting to conquer your fear by trapping it inside a clear plastic cup, and setting it back into the wild (believe it or not, more or less, I've gotten sick of killing them). Fortunately, it was already trapped in the bathtub when I went to snag it. But still, as safe as I was after containing it, and even trying to get a better look at it afterwards to further conquer my fear (behind the safety of the cup barrier), I'm still shaking a bit from being that close to a spider roughly half the size of my hand.

For what it's worth, at least I'm getting better at overcoming my fear. I guess I won't be completely over my fear until I handle one bare handed. Preferably, not one the size of my hand or larger.

Got a bit of work this week to wrap up the month and keep me busy. Not a bad chunk of work either.

Been awhile since I last flailed about. I might be up for a round or 2, provided someone opens a room.

The 'Draw it Again' challenge is always a nice challenge to do. I have noticed when I've done those a few times, I not as much re-drew the same thing, but rather considered the redraw attempts as a means and opportunity to upgrade (or update, like a time skip) and re-engineer some of my designs as I go about them. In some other cases, being able to do a 3D rebuild as well either via Blender or Minecraft (Voxel-by-voxel) also adds another dimension to working with them as well (helps especially since every voxel is a cubic-meter; I can measure accurately as I work).

Kinda reminds me, I still have a long way to go before I can really showcase my progress with the Excalibur Airship (being built in Minecraft). Fortunately, I remembered how user-friendly MCEdit is for stuff like that (also given that it's also not as much a resource-hog as the game itself when played; though not as fancy graphically; it works), so I'm reserving using Minecraft itself for more detail-oriented stuff, but for the main engineering stuff, I'm using MCEdit for the big stuff that would be a hassle. Another anti-hassle measure I love that I can do is working on half of the ship instead (keeping the rooms empty, of course) and upon finishing, copy-paste-mirror what I finish, and get the job done more quickly (half the time, and half the hassle). Kinda a reason I made the construction site at the Zero-point on the flatgrass world. User-friendly build coordinates for giant megaprojects like that.

Just realized something. Once I get some more 3D production skills down, with Blender at least (better modeling skills, and of course texturing/painting them), I can always use my Minecraft models as reference, and re-build those to a more ultra-refined format, instead of cubic-meter blocks, they can look much finer, where necessary. Kinda like doing a set design kind of thing; plus, I can also animate them to work how I see them work, which would otherwise be a pain to work with in another format like Minecraft (at least, to make turbines spin and such). Of course, to do such ultra-refinement, my skill doesn't only need to get better, but so does my hardware. So, for the time being, I'll have to make do with what i got for now.

EDIT:
Always an awesome personal goal to try to reach. Whenever I can invest in a 3D printer, gain enough skills to make my own model kits based on my artwork. I mean, a fully movable 3D printed model of one of my ships would rock to have sitting on my desktop. Especially something as badass as the flagship/airship I'm working on.

That was actually good to watch. I needed to hear that. Especially with my freelancing, and the feeling of being overwhelmed with certain tasks that discourage me, like logo design and such (or making an overall style for companies (stationery, business cards, brochures and the like)), and comparing my skillset with the final products of others that have done their work. On the plus side, it's mostly boring office crap I work with helping produce, so at least it's no big deal; but you know how companies roll.

I think when I applied for classes, I should've taken a Graphic Arts degree, instead of Graphic Design. Oh well, at least there are tutorials to learn some neat tricks I can apply. Personally, I want to be paid for having fun (art for art's sake, and for myself, more than others). Not making crap for other people.

EDIT:
Thank goodness I'm a US resident then. But still, don't underestimate the ego of an asshole with money to spare.

So you're saying that immortality could become an STD?

Went for a walk earlier today, and learned that the ocean, despite being mid-October, is actually a swimmable temperature. Decided to go for a dive. Quite refreshing.

I remember getting glasses for the first time since elementary school. Got to see how ugly(-ier) the world was (damn kids and their bullying; granted they weren't exactly stylish, but it was another target painted on me to hassle me about). But bullying aside, it was nice to see a bit better than usual, but if anything, it was more to help a lazy eye I had, than anything really groundbreaking vision-wise. After wearing the lens of shame for long enough, and having to put up with people, I just decided to put my eyes through a series of exercises to fix them enough so I didn't need to wear glasses unless it was necessary. My vision isn't all that much better, but my peripheral awareness did jump a fair amount, mainly to the point that I can cover my blindspots better from other kids to the point of disarming some of their gags, like tapping the opposite shoulder and such.

At least it was fun being a buzzkill against pests; especially when teachers are useless about it.

Looks awesome. I like that it takes the world map into account for rendering the backdrop when looking around from high places. Gives you a good sense of scale of the world, while viewing your fortress.

The classic Xcom games still rock (and with Final Mod in OpenXcom, it's even crazier this time around. Even Beginner is a challenge, or difficulty scaling by score means I'm quite the foe).

Starcon 2 is always a classic. Especially Melee Mode. Been many a fun and ‼fun‼ round against my siblings, and with key-jamming rule in play (gotta love shared keyboards), it added to the challenge at times, and was an annoying move to pull (add more rules, and call it a combat move. Limited uses.).

Atomic Tetris. Basically, Tetris with powerups that can aid or destroy you when you're up against another player.

X-Wing and Tie Fighter are still classics for me. Managed to beat Tie Fighter rather quickly, and probably one of the first games I actually put some effort into collecting achievemenets (at least the training/proving grounds badges and simulator medals).

Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries was just full of fun missions, and had a pretty decent training/tutorial mission intro. The combat arena was always an awesome mission, and pretty difficult, but a prison escape from a weak hovercraft (and destroying a mech's legs or few as you escape).

Back before VR and Hololens, the Sega Master System had 3-D games (and pretty good 3-D while at it, combined with the blaster (Zillion-style with ours back then) and some cool games for both). They did well, and used it as a good mechanic in other cases.

So many more...
