Which means that astronauts can't play DF during those long, boring missions unless they bring their own laptops?  For shame!

@filiusenox:  <praying for successful venture.  Long live the Empire!>
Well, the entire point of it also means that if they brought laptops those would be fried by radiation after a few hours.

Wait, what type of radiation is that destroys equipment but astronauts still stay in one piece?

I heartily approve the preponderance of choose your own adventure forts recently...

Moving on, clearly in order to be friends you must give gifts of peace to the slugman! And since the dog wont stop barking every time you go in and out, I propose you feed it to the slug person, as a gift of friendship!

This would be really cool, but it looks like his "game" is completely based on a real fortress.  So I'm not sure how he would go about doing this, other than building a butchery and slaughtering the dog... :(

This would be possible using a stockpile. I'll see what I can do once I get home.. :)

Hai guys!

I accidentally forgot the save (yes, this is a real fortress) at home so I can't update the adventure until afternoon. I'll try to reproduce the actions you propose as accurately as possible in the game.

I can spam you with custom rendered 3D images of the underground (fort) and aboveground would be the new visualizer. For the drawn part I'm using Google SketchUp with Hirst stuff.

Sorry for the later delays but I got a kitten this weekend so I was quite busy with him. :)

He has pity on the next slugman.  Perhaps this one will be friends?

Urdim hid the pick and tried to get closer to the other slugman. It reared and hissed at Urdim.

Since the slugman did not wish to be friends with Urdim, perhaps it will be friends with THE BUSINESS END OF HIS PICK.

Slay that unfriendly slugman.

Urdim took up his pick and went out to kill the slugman. The slugman ran a long way from the habitat but Urdim caught up with him near some lakes and killed with one furious blow. The ground was all bloody on the slugman's fly path. Urdim was proud of what he did. And then he saw another slugman in the corner of his eyes, not too far away. Adrenaline was pumping through his veins and he took a second to think about it..

Urdim tried to approach a slugman but it hissed very angrily at him. After several tries the slugman violently lunged towards Urdim so he had to run inside the habitat and hide there.

He could clearly hear the slugman going through the stuff that remained from the trip. Urdim was suddenly very afraid. What should he do now?

Dig out a farm in the soil layer.
Farm successfully dug but there was some stone so it's smaller than Urdim wanted it to be originally. He has planted some Plump helmets there. The dog is happily barking every time he enters the habitat through the hatch.

Hm, I'd say install the grate if it hasn't been done already, otherwise chain the dog in the stairs to ensure "maximum" safety.

Could we have a bit more data about the area ? Is there a soil layer, for instance ?

This is a small screenshot of the area before the hatch was installed and the dog chained. 3D image of the whole area and closeup of the entrance hidden in the spoiler!

Nice drawing, btw.
Thanks!

Everything is safe and secure. What should Urdim do next?

Try to make a crude hatch out of the logs to close the entrance.

He took up his tools and after a few hours the grate was made to secure the entrance. What next?

Urdim has dug out a habitat for himself:

(what you see is 3 levels underground with unworked stone walls and floor)

What next?

I vote solitary adventurer.

It was a long journey for Urdim Okirezum. Seven dwarves started on a journey to start a new dwarven burrow. Everything was good until they reached the Teeth of Rabble, a sinister mountain range. Crossing it cost the lives of 6 dwarves and most of their stock. Urdim managed to reach the other side of the mountain range to the Rough Murk forest. He has some basic tools, some food and seeds left, a few pieces of leather, some rope, and what wooden logs he managed to gather on the cart. There is also a surviving wardog with him.

He feels terribly alone and has already saw some wild animals including a tiger and a few slugmen. What should he do next?

Hai!

Since the old saved got fcuked up because a flash drive that managed to die on me with the only version AND backup of the old community adventure I will have to start a new one.

To prevent shit like this to happen I'll have double backups after each decision/step you guys do on two computers, a new USB flash drive, and two online file sharing services.

I'm terribly sorry because this happened and I hope you will forgive me.

Go here to play!!!

Hai!

Ok, let's start a game. I saw something similar on other forums for freeform RPG's but we'll play this a bit different. I'll run a game where this community will decide what happens with the forest and it's inhabitant(s).

The rules are simple:
  • I describe the situation/place/event/whatever.
  • The first reply decides on the next action. In case of an invalid action the following reply decides, and so on.
  • No suicidal actions (unless it's the last resort)!
  • I describe the what happened and we start over again.

I will, of course, spam you with tons of 3D images (almost all custom drawn and "rendered", I have 3D objects prepared) about what happened to make this fun.

So the first situation/question is:
Solitary or 7 dwarves adventure?

After Cog Shaligiden, healer of The Lined Arena, got injured by one of his enraged patients he decided to leave Mountainhomes of Thob Mis, "The Girders of Haze". A small group left with him into the unknown - Meng Tathurmedtob, Rigoth Regotung, Logem Mistember, Urvad Tatsakzul, Tosid Morulkodor, and Bim Noramstukos.

After many months of travel they ventured into the Severe Swamp. It was really hard to get through and when they finally made it to the scorching Beak of Sloth their supplies were running short. After some quick decision making they took out their picks and started mining their new home.

DF Community Games & Stories / Slozgo Angstur - The Universes of Myth
« on: June 18, 2009, 08:58:31 am »
Slozgo Anfstur is my project of playing one world over and over and write at least several stories of happenings in it.

The Universes of Myth are a highly evil, mountainous, and volcanic region. It was barely created (only 2 years old) so it should provide a lot of fun with a lot of megabeasts. Here are the parameters for creation:

And here's the current world history (so you know the references):

I hope you will enjoy the stories. Let's see the first one...
