I always have a crapload of stukos and ducim's running around. Its very disconcerting when dwarves af both genders are named ducim, and when all the nobles are named ducim.

I get to the point where I want to name them all stukos ducimshist out of retaliation.

Why can't they just have a name like... robert, or john? No, they always have to have a name ends up containing a lever or some other random item because of my graphics pack colliding with the names... and ducim, and stukos.

I very rarely get an urist.

Now I imagine a "have you seen this dwarf?" Poster slapped to all the booze barrels in the fort. Similar to the "missing person" photos on milk cartons.

Million urist question:

For dead creatures with the flyer token.... if they are zombie or skeletal, do they still fly?  :o if so, the pit idea is not such a good idea/don't dump giant cave swallows and giant cave swallowmen bodies into the pit.

That's cheating!

Compromise maybe... slap the pet_trainable token to the raws at world gen? Then when they succomb to my cage traps, I can train them legitimately...

I still pan to end the world with my massive necropolis project! Given the increased fun in adventure mode, it should a fantastic adventure mode challenge!

Can you assign clowns a coffin? That would greatly increase the deadliness!

Day of the dead indeed!

I prefer to know exactly how much water I will need for my agroponics centers. That way I can't screw up due to my lever puller deciding he's just not drunk enough anymore, and wandering off while the fortress drowns.

The reservoir contains exactly the correct amount of water to do the job. That's part of the beauty. It also makes a great aquarium when you are all done. I usually line the walls of it with glass windows so I can use it for that very purpose.

Once finished, there is no more flow, and no fps hell.

Two words:

Pressurized water.

Calculate the floor space of your soon to be growing area. Multiply that by 2. That is how much water you want your "instaflood" reservoir (directly above the grow chamber, emptied with hatch cover attached to lever.) To hold.

For instance, say you want to flood a 100x100 room to 2 deep. That's 10,000 water at 1/7 depth. We want 2/7 to ensure equal and uniform coverage. So, we want 20,000 water.  We divide this by however many zlevels deep we want our pressurized deluge system to be. (The more zlevels, the more pressure, th faster it will flood the room) let's say we want 5 z levels. That's 4000 per level. We divide that by 7. That gives us the number of tiles in area each reservoir level needs to be. This comes out to approx 23x23 tiles. (This errs on the light side to avoid having a grow chamber that won't dry.)

Fill the reservoir using a direct connection to a river, brook, or aquifer, with a shutoff floodgate.

Open the shutoff gate, and fill the reservoir. When it is full, close the shutoff. Open the hatch. Pressurized water will blast into the growing room at a frightful rate. When the reservoir has emptied, close the hatch, and reset.

For optimal tree growing, I have found repeat flooding is necessary. Trees grow painfully slow on "dusting of mud" tiles, and grow noticably faster on "pile of mud" tiles.

You only get that from repeat flooding after complete drying.

With some clever engineering, you can use the same reservoir to muddy multiple stacked growing rooms, by channeling out the 'splash point', and building walls around it. The water will safely be directed into the next floor down, and the process can be repeated as many growing chambers deep as needed.

It would appear that he/she is a my little pony cultist. This dangerous cult has been growing in the darker and seedier portions of the internet for some time now, and theatens our more conservative values with its irrational cuteness and blatant disregard for normal gender behaviors.

It is currently a fringe group, like the furries, or the bay12 forumites and their magma cult, but like those two other groups it appears to take on new members daily.

<end sardonic pontification>

Toady should totally put something like that in.... the new syndrome framework should make it theoretically possible.

I can get greater density with my "swastika" layout, and it doesn't suffer potential hallway clogging from having doors directly opposite each other.

I really need to take a screenie.....

It can if they punch the wrong people and get killed for their trouble.

Eg, they punch the distressed minerdwarf husband of the female hammerdwarf who died visciously at the hands of the recent FB invasion, causing him to go berzerk and drive his masterwok pick into the tantruming bitch ass noble's brain. Then all the nobles's friends go psycho.

I try to avoid giving my dwarves elegant quarters, because nobles tend to obcscess over things like that.

"Oh, that peasants nasty greenglass room is just too big and spacious, even though all the furnishings are of the lowest possible quality and aren't decorated at all, while I live in an opulently engraved, palacial obsidian mansion, with gold, platinum, and native aluminum furnishings studded with expensive diamonds and other shiny baubles. I feel so depressed knowing that the peasants don't live in total squallor! I will throw a tantrum now and start a loyalty cascade because I'm such an emo bitch about it!"
