On that subject, yes you are free to add things to the graphic pack, or make your own version of the graphic pack. Most of the art in the pack has been, borrowed, from the community, and I've created to pack for the benefit of the community. Feel free to use or improve it as you wish.

Sadly, I will no be able to update the graphic pack myself. I suffer from anxiety/dread issues, and working on this pack is one of my triggers (download GIMP and study the graphic files to quickly understand why.) I'm sorry I can no longer support the pack. I will visit/lurk once in a while, like I did for the past year, to keep up with what's happening with DF.

Word of introduction: Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit; not being a programmer or any other kind of computer-dwarf.

I am playing d16 under Wine. It runs fine and stuff, but since times immemorial I've been trying to run native DF40d#. Got no luck with putting lacking (downloaded, as not available in repos) libs into proper folder. Terminal says all libraries are at their place, but yet segmentation fault occurs. It is surely because I've collected them from across the web (Fedora? Debian? other? packages).

It there any way to catch all the pokemon libraries without losing sanity (Will it go with this? no. This? No.)? How?

Save this[1] in DF/data/art/ as Unknown_curses_12x12.bmp.BMP (I think it's necessary, use IrfanView or anything else to convert image type).

Now go to DF/data/init/init.txt

Voila. Grid values are from my own init.txt, but you can adjust them as you like. However these work for sure. It has really nothing to do with mods or saves, so no clean installation is required. Have fun (I hope).

You could diversify humans - I mean their names and associated flavour stuff, something like "Imperials", "Barbarians", "Tribesmen", "Midhumans" or else. It will make distinguishing them more easy - both for trading and war purposes.

(BTW, I you'd want it, I could post you dwurves, civilization of bearded bastards I always play using LL.)

Hmm.. guys, is anyone using this that doesn't have at least a pentium 3?

Intel (R) Celeron (R) M CPU 440 @ 1.86GHz. It doesn't look like Pentium3 for me, but who knows? Certainly I don't.
I've encountered the bug with glitchy graphics on the beginning, but F11 twice and everything returned to normal. Still performing speed tests.

Other notes:
- You could repair cats, so they won't spam "injured" every while. That's easy thing, but considerably improves mod playing pleasure.
- Two things about Avars: I've taken [FLIER] from them, cause they like to hang in air waiting for nothing for years. I think someone before has reported this bug. They are also a bit too friendly, I never managed to get a world with WAR with those pesks. Thus, after removing [CAN_SPEAK], they attack first spring in great numbers and only wizards trading meanwhile saved my fort from imminent destruction.
- Other than this - Legendary Lands great (and I'll keep you informed about problems encountered). Thanks for your work!

Note: Wizards come trading every season since the very beginning (because of no PROGRESS_TRIGGER_THING I belive and all seasons tagged). They bring wagons full of metal bars and great numbers of -large Iron  -. Wonder what is that thing.

Works without problems. However, I've played before with FPS cap turned on, so no speed increase raports yet (waiting for the immigrants).

Yes, my phrasing was a little wonky: what I meant wouldn't work was the opposite; being on the ramp on the lower level and trying to dig out a square on the upper level.

Also, IIRC, you cannot dig from the upper level of the ramp.

That is, the ramp is a special square that lets you move from z-level to z-level + 1, but it doesn't actually put you on z-level + 1 yourself.  Apparently, dwarves are not smart enough to stand on the top of the ramp and dig.
