Nice story post, but I noticed that you kept changing tenses.

shoot. I wrote this post in two sittings so I can see that happening. I will go through the post and try to spot these mistakes when I have more time but in the meantime, either here or in PM, could you point out the ones you noticed?

Spoilered for length - STORY POST!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

edit - well, when I posted this last night, Firefox had not detected any spelling errors. I was foolish to think I had not made any! Spelling corrected now

edit 2 - E-gads! the grammar, it hurts! I'm glad Barbarossa pointed out the tense changes, there were quite a lot of them. I also spotted and fixed quite a few incorrect words I had used. The post should be pretty good now.

Truly profound. Simply sublime. I am in awe of your observations and skillful analysis, sir.
agreed. The truths in this post should be taught to every man, woman and child on earth. It must have been interesting to type out :P
the next story post has been played out and it's notes await my attention. I'll try to write them up this weekend but if not, expect a post on Monday-Tuesday.

x-com kinda fits the bill to a T. you start out with pea shooter armed flesh bags that would sooner die from their own misguided bullets than survive to a ripe old age. The enemy is armed with devastating weapons and technology.

on the easier difficulties its not so bad but if you play on the harder difficulties, you will find yourself unable to win most early missions and will have to resort to taking what little technology you can for research and booking it. once you research some of the alien weapons (which work pretty well against most of them) or better human technology based weapons and armor, the tides slowly turn until it is the aliens that cant seem to catch a break.

cyber disks, crysilids, mutons, ethreals and sectopods will be almost unstoppable on the hardest difficulty.

Yes, it's a novel. I don't know about adding commentary--I tend to stray from that. Besides, this is more exposition than boring-to-read, which means that I'm just having trouble putting my heart into "So-and-so did this. That means thus and such rather than making boring stuff interesting. Readers will be happy enough to finally understand what's going on.

Hrrg. I need to just buckle down and write. *gameface*

i need to buckle down and write too. i imagine a bunch of people who were following my LP might think it finally died. it has not! i just need to sit my ass down and work on it.

I had an interview today for some position I didn't know about before applying yesterday. It was at the local museum but the company handles a lot of community stuff at the water front. The interview went great and there are two positions that sound really good for me; office assistant and archivist assistant. I really want that archivist assistant position!

Well, you know what they say. An apple a day forces you to have sex for 24 minutes unless you own a bicycle.
Now I may be a little crazy here, but how much time would be saved by combining both activities?

too much :P

on the topic of the negative calories, one needs to remember that the calculation to get to that outcome is hopefully based on an average person. people have different bodies and some are more efficient than others at burning calories. even doing nothing at all, all day causes larger people to burn more calories than smaller people. so smaller people might still gain calories by eating certain foods that larger people would not gain calories from.

I imagine that weight is also not the only factor (perhaps current state of digestive organs? fiber intake? general health?)

new, transparent background avatar. 9/10 for effort. -1 for crappy roll.

Heh, the big bad bun-less sandwich can damage your health? It certainly isn't healthy but there is nothing, eating one of these, your body can't recover from. It's just food, we're built to ingest a wide variety of it, including just about everything in that "sandwich".

But fuck KFC >.< they don't sell it up here. I guess Canadians are just not a big enough market. Augh I hate that kind of bull crap. See it on TV or in the news and it just doesn't exist up here. How hard is it to make that available up here?
