DF General Discussion / Re: What you DONT want in DF?
« on: February 28, 2011, 12:44:09 am »
Ah, reminds me of waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the 40d days when someone modded their goblins to be all-female and craft clockwork vibrators and keep male slaves of other races with them.  The topic ended up devolving into DF Rule 34 and I think Toady actually showed up in the topic to tell everyone to keep it classy.  I don't know if it eventually got shut down or not.  There's a related article on a certain wiki out there, but I won't link it.

While we're on the topic of corpsepiece reactions - can anyone tell me how to make bone coins? There was this book you see, and I'd dearly love to replicate some of it's amazingness ingame. You used to be able to, back before .40d, but by the .40ds I don't think you could anymore.

Coins are kind of wonky to create through reactions since the item is supposed to have things depicted on it.

And what book?  :)

1. http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Material_definition_token
2. I don't know of any, unfortunately. >_<
3. You can't create new jobs, unfortunately.  The best you can do is make the game call Engineers "Nuclear Physicists" instead.

Wait, what's wrong with just making the blocks out of cloth through a reaction?  Does the game flip out?  I remember making blocks out of bone and pearl just fine back in 40d.

Do you have temperature turned off?

I hear using burrows helps as well.

That's not fair, My fort has like 30 bee hives with a pop of 60.

Where are my ambushes?

I need my FUN!

Are goblins extinct?  Or living in your area?

Yeah, it can easily reach that high because I did a similar thing.  If only there were a prompt whether to mine out the adamantine vein in those circumstances...

Digging designation canceled: Comedic Stone

It's cuz someone took away its [DRAGONFIREBREATH] tag.

DF Modding / Re: Why do goblins have trolls?

Doesn't it have something to do with the [PET] and [PET_EXOTIC] tag as well?

Trolls don't have either of those.

I really hope that totems are constructible items in a future version. I guess if I looked up how to mod things I could do that?

There's a mod to build "display cases" out of random items or artifacts.  It'd probably be possible to mod "skull on a stick" as a one-tile custom workshop that requires a totem to be built.

Interesting.  Other than trolls, subterranean creatures aren't evil or good tagged, are they?

Would the same sort of thing be possible with [GOOD] tags?

What in the raws makes it so goblins automatically get pet trolls?  Trolls don't have any pet or domestic tags on them at all.  Is it hardcoded, or is there something I'm missing?
