DF General Discussion / Re: "weird invisible sites"?
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:41:03 am »
Sounds to me like they will be special sites for adventures, so you cant even attempt to embark on them, since you cant see them, but seeing how toady rolls that seems very strange :s
i agree, not proberly formulated, toady is in need of human contact :p

I just tried duplicating creatures in 5 - 6 different files.
The civs was replaced by ratmen, gremlins, lizardmen and other such-suchs. This was 40d.
The megabeasts included blizzardmen and mermen, although subsequent tests indicates megabeasts are the first things to go wrong.

I couldn't check out further info in legends mode, and attempting to embark in fortress mode both resulted in crashes.
Editing the RAWs to a point of balance between fuck-uppery and not making the game crash are going to be hard.

EDIT: Yes, when speaking about duplicating RAWs fuck-uppery is a verb.

The dwarfy thing to do, of course, would be to have your dwarves fix this oversight and connect the two rivers.

That would be cool, but it seems too easy to me. Or it that because I am a newbie? Either way, do it, but do it in a way much more complicated then it needs to be.
Agree with you, digging it out and essentially wasting 3 high-powered aquifers... Nah.
Think enormous maze spanning that entire canyon, which is, what 10 z-levels?
Oh yeah, out of fortifications and grates.
With a single lever pull the entire canyon goes underwater >:)

Writing that with that avatar...
I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel...

The head is the first half of a elf, with rubies for eyes.

What the hell does this even mean? Does this mean that its head is an elf that's cut in half, or that its head is half elf and half something else, or what?
No it's the first half of an elf, as in a centaur is the backend of a horse and the front/first half of a man.
I'm bad at formulating stuff like that :(

It has 3 legs.
The legs are that of an eagle.
The body is that of a pygmy cow.
However, it is made of plump helmets.
The head is the first half of a elf, with rubies for eyes.
The blood is molten iron.
The tail is made of socks.

I got nothing to add to this conversation but the fact that creatures start exploding at 16 z-levels height, which might be more worth than 30 dwarves weight in booze.

All your candidates just got on their knees.

I eagerly await the next edition, when I can tear up goblin clothing for bandages and dressings.
It's already possible with proper reactions (in smelter, which is weird).

Next version allows many more solutions :).
"Yes Urist, it's a crazy, crazy world. Now put the damn cat chunks in the glowing embers so we can get our purring maggot milk and get outta here before the smith catches us!"

It's hardcoded AFAIK.
No dice mate =/

If a dwarf gains skill increase in the highest military skill he/she has while drafted he/she will become a hero.

I dunno man, I had some awesome beer just last night...

No I didn't.  I'm not old enough to drink. :'(

Drinking age is 50 where I come from!
In Denmark it's (10 - (BAC rating of persons grandfather X 50)).

Yeah, and he died in 2002...
Is it just me, or do you guys also feel guilty for not buying this guy a beer?
We were alive at the same time as this completely awesome Man, and we didn't take the opportunity to fly to Finland, track him down, and buy him a beer!
Well, I didn't, and I just know my grandchildren are going to mock me for it... "Granddad, you were alive at the same time as that completely awesome finnish man who are now a greek god, why didn't you buy him a beer when you had the chance?"
