I know none of that is coming in the next one, my question was how much of the preliminary work required to implement armies on a 'campaign map' will be done with the next update.

as we all know the next update is going to be possibly the biggest overhaul of df since going 3d. The next biggest thing (if i read the dev notes right) will be for us to be able to command armies on the map and attack other sites.

The question I want to ask is: can anyone who is familiar with the dev notes tell me how much of the preliminaries for that will be done with this next update?

With the new update bringing in a method to issue attack orders to dwarves, do you (the community) think it should be possible to attack friendlies/traders/anything/pets not just hostiles? But have it maybe cause a severe unhappy thought for alot of dwarves in the command chain if you murder one of your own dwarves/nobles.

any thoughts?

So how would I go by making all large land and sea creatures hostile to my dwarves and shoot fireballs? I'm hoping to use said info in a succession game. I just need to know which tags to add/remove from each creature.

I think that rather than having dwarves with the right to bear arms, it would be far more dwarvenly if they all had the right to arm bears. Now that would be a solution to nearly anything :D

You guys are all sick, wonder how stuck ins are now going to be handled or atleast in the future.
If it's a through and through, they'll undergo mental conditioning that makes them fight their natural urges and want to run up and hug the treehuggers.

...but they should have used lubricant in the first place. Sticking it in without lubricant would be rather painful.

This is why I love this community.

baughn et all have not seen the actual source. Toady released the graphics part of DF in the form of battlechamps which is what baughn etc work on to get us those awesome opengl updates :)

my arrows do bludgeoning damage. Its more or less the only way i can balance them.
