It won't start. It just claims I need a newer version of windows. Was something really changed so win98 isn't an option anymore?

Ever since I started working on LCS, anything I release has been incompatible with Windows 98. I think someone explained why this is to me and how I can change it, but unfortunately I completely forgot what they said. My personal to-the-best-of-my-knowledge explanation would be that Microsoft has a really stupid way of not updating the C libraries in earlier versions of Windows, such that even if your game could otherwise be fully backwards-compatible, if you compile on a later version of Windows, you still need that version of Windows or later to run your game. I code LCS on a Windows XP box, so you probably need XP, Vista, or Windows 7 to run the releases I put out.

On the other hand, if you have Linux, you should be able to get the source code off of the subversion archive and compile it yourself.
4.00.4 works on 2000 NT

you can send a lot more men then them just get some people to talk up tons crack head,gagsters,hippes and the like up for a week, form them in to squads give them weapon,(knife,then handguns)then attack.

I know for a fact that there is a cap, unless it got removed in 40d somehow. If I added in reactions past 38 I'd start to lose the ones at the beginning of the file.

Easy enough to test again, I suppose.

army combat bonus work out like so;
size  + 3 for equips and +1 per weapon + 1 per armor + 2 CAN_CIV + 1 for LARGE_PREDATOR + 2 for LIKES_FIGHTING + 2 for MOUNT x 1/2 of it MODVALUE
x 5 for POWER x 10 for MEGABEAST x5 for SEMIMEGABEAST

i.e. a Goblin
SIZE:6
CAN_CIV
LIKES_FIGHTING
EQUIPS
WEAPON SPEAR
ARMOR LEATHER
so 6(size)+3(EQUIPS)+2(CAN_CIV) +2 (LIKES_FIGHTING)+1(weapon)+1(armor)
total 15 or a Plump helmet and a drink

some jobs shoud pay a base rate and then a bonus (i.e. hunters pays min wage then a bonus based on:size, if it a megabeast or a semimegabeast, it modvalue  and if it killed a dwarf.
i.e.
1 a giant desert scorpion size 10 x 10 modvalue its not a megabeast so 100
you get 10 meat of 20 each (2x10 2 is the base cost of meat) 10 x 20 = 200
so the dwarf can get 10% (20) toal value of the creature rouned up = 20 :)

2 a Groundhog size 2 x 0 modvalue its not a megabeast so 2
you get 2 meat of 2 each (meat base 2 x 0 modvalue)  2 x 2 = 2
so the dwarf can get 10% (1) toal value of the creature rouned up = 1 :(

A dwarf is size 6
Elephants are only size 16.
and it has the speed of a Unbelievably Agile dwarf.
(speed in the raws works backways, lower is qicker)

may be Goblins with ropes/wood laders can get up low walls (no more than 3?) 1 wall hight per rope/lader.

ropes/laders can be cut/smashed by your troops.

elves can get lots of animals to back them up
fear the elves:
Giant eagle mounted bowmen
Elephant battering rams
Hippo based sea raiders
Giant lion,desert scorpion,jaguar,leopard,tiger mounted raiders
