I have a stockpile were barrels are spontaneously breaking.

They are not getting any damage modifiers to them, they are just disappearing and leaving their contents.

The door is locked, so no one goes in or out.

Heat tracking is off (To increase speed)



It is so close to the lava I was thinking maybe they are breaking because of that, but heat tracking is off so if that is the case there is still a little heat tracking going on.

Try disabling UAC on vista running it as an administrator, and see if it still throws this error.

i am betting it is not allowing memory injection of a separate process.

Hey profit, I know you want to help others, but that doesn't give you the right to put up the code of my work. It's fine if you can decompile it and play around with the code, but don't make it publicly available. It's still my decision if, when and how I open source it and not yours. And, frankly, it's not just a matter of zipping the code and uploading it. I want to clean it up a little, add a license and THEN release it in a way I can update later. Yes, this takes a little time, but I don't think anyone will die without the code. So, if you don't mind, could you please remove the file?

Actually if you READ the license of DWARF FOREMAN the program you used code from, You MUST give everyone access to your source code otherwise you have no right to use it.

So the copy of the source code is perfectly legal AND within the spirit of the GPL which you are bound to by using dwarf foreman as a base.  However... I will still remove it...

I have to agree, Dwarf Manager SHOULD be part of dwarf fortress. (with the exception we should probably not be able to force nobles into the hauling business)

I am fairly certain higher path costs increases workload, for the path finding loop, but just because a 1 cost path existed unless the route was cached would be nearly identical in performance to current pathfinding... without the penalty of fortress structure changes sending things wonky (like putting in a 10 step closer door that no dwarf will use because the other path has been trodden so much and the like.)


Only if routes were cached (which this would be a great way to determine what routes should be cached)  Would this actually drop CPU usage.

Actually never mind, I can just dissassemble it back into source since it is a C Sharp program.

(Source code link removed because the author wished to release it in a better format.)

Would you kindly release the source code.

Not that I plan on recompiling it, but several have mentioned they would like it on their platform and perhaps a linux or mac port can be done...

this is brilliant, which is why this is not the first time this has been suggested, probably not even the 40th time...  This is simply a route caching pathfinding solution, with a user interface on it.

It's perfectly valid, but toad from what I understand thinks it will require too much memory.   Memory certainly could be a concern and with more than  1142784 factorial possible routes on a map (1142784 factorial means 1142784*1142783*1142782*11427811 ..... all the way to 1 AKA HUGE NUMBER!!!! so huge that windows calculator could not even calculate it in under 10 mins which is what I gave it.... You can do it if you want put in 1142784 and press the n! key in scientific mode. ) So toad would need to o route pruning and the like which while I think would be worth it, only he can decide how to spend his time.

I think you just responded to a single post that was over a year and a half old.

Neat ideas, though.  But that should use glass windows instead of glass blocks I think.

Maybe he used the search feature like everyone tells people to, and someone had already made the idea so he added onto it....

I fail to see how this will affect fortress if decay of stone is done at a somewhat realistic speed.

Rock constructions do not fail within the lifetime of humans or even dwarves for that matter. 

Bridges built by the Roman empire are still in  use today with no one providing upkeep.

Wood would be really the only possibility, if it was warm and wet it could rot in a few years maybe.

Possibly iron could rust enough in 40 or so years to make things like grates or bars weak.

Just like to mention dwarf manager, a nice utility that builds upon what dwarf foreman started.

You know, I was looking at that and wondering why you mentioned that because I have always had dwarf manager and not dwarf foreman on the list (It was outdated)  But looking at my list more carefully the link was named "Dwarf Foreman" even though it pointed to "Dwarf Manager"

The issue has been corrected.
