It's probably coming more from the Netherlands' euthanasia practices than from Charlie Gard. It's a source of propaganda amongst the right-wing of the healthcare debate for...pretty much everything, real or imagined. They make up so much stuff I have a hard time remembering what parts are true and what are lies, such as giving suicide drugs to minors who are mentally but not physically ill or any of the stories of "soft" coercion of the sick elderly to "stop wasting time" and die.

Look, the truth is -- old, sick people are actually sent to FEMA camps to be forced to play Hunger Games. The losers are turned into Soylent which is stolen by illegal immigrants, mixed with baby parts from Planned Parenthood and then dumped in the water to TURN THE FRIGGIN' FROGS GAY.

conspearasee -- am i doing it rite?

And nobody knows how to play petty obstructionist politics better than the GOP. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship. I picture Schumer and McConnell getting together and finding ever more interesting ways to legislatively piss in 45's cornflakes. Hopefully calling on Biden from time to time, because nobody knows how to punk a bitch better than Uncle Joe, amirite?

Christ, this makes me feel worse about world leaders in general. Trump's side of this was trash, but look at the way Turnbull talks while Trump is freaking out. "Thank you, thank you, yes commitment, yes, agree" fuck you, fucking conduct actual diplomacy or don't but don't pretend in a private phone call like you're doing something.

I bet Kennedy and Khrushchev didn't spend ten minutes spewing shit at each other. What, are brass tacks now extinct or something?
True,, it would have been gratifying if Turnbull had just said, "Oi! Shithead! I made a deal with the last bloke, and you betta be ready to pony up! I'll fucking cut u m8. You think I'm scared of you? I'm a motherfucking Aussie mate! We have scarier shit than you as house pets."

Transcripts of some of Trumps calls were released.

Man, that is some cringe-y reading, especially with Turnbull. 45 gets so wound up worrying about the optics that he doesn't even listen to what Turnbull is saying.

I think Kellyanne Conway was an early attempt at a Floater.

I just reinstalled X-Com and started a new game ...and noticed it starts in 2016. Suddenly, a lot begins to make sense. Increased unrest and panic around the world, a Thin Man as Communications Director, a Chrysalid zombie as chief strategist....

That's XCOM.

X-Com started in 1999. Right around the time we were transitioning into a presidency that wanted to find an excuse to send soldiers to a sandy, dusty place on the excuse there are weapons of mass destruction there, and just so happens they find a paradigm changing source of energy.
"We know where the weapons are; they're north, west and south of Cydonia." -- Gunther Rumsfeld, X-Com Commander

Well looks like they did it again.

To be fair, the problem with CPI is widespread and affects a lot of financial institutions because the communication between auto insurers and financial institutions is, in a word, shit.

Twice in the last two years, I've gotten a notice from the credit union where I have my car loan that my insurance had lapsed and they were going to enroll me in CPI if I didn't provide proof of insurance within 30 days. In both cases, I called the credit union and raised holy hell, then called my auto insurance and raised holy hell. Eventually, after much hand-holding (I considered setting up a 3-way call), the credit union got the correct info and the problem was solved.

But there's the difference -- the credit union:

1. Notified me that they showed me with no insurance.
2. Worked with me to resolve the issue.
3. Stated that had they issued a CPI policy in error, they would have refunded the full cost of it.

Commercial banks like Wells Fargo (ESPECIALLY Wells Fargo) don't give a flying fuck about their customers. And given their track record, I guarantee you this was another "sign them up for everything under the sun" sales directive from on high. IMHO, Wells Fargo should be nationalized and then sold off in pieces to competitors, and the money raised used to pay out the damages suffered by consumers. And the board execs should be doing hard time.

Perhaps Trump's jobs program is aimed more or less exclusively at ensuring every available attorney in the country has billable hours for the next eight years.

Permanent indentured servant class when?

Except that they aren't citizens. Just sort of looks like parents of those who are born in the US and not already US citizens just won't get the benefits that citizens get. There's still the whole bit about tearing peoples families apart though.

That's my point. You're going to have this class of people who will be legal-ish residents with no access to any of the protections of green card holders or citizenship. Those people still have to eat, have shelter, etc. Unscrupulous employers can hire these people and do whatever the fuck they want to screw them over, because they're not protected by Federal employment laws. Makes me think of the liudong ren in China, except even they have Chinese citizenship. They just don't have any other legal rights because they migrated illegally.

EDIT: On further reading, what they seem to be doing is making it so financially burdensome on so-called "anchor babies" to support their families, that the non-citizen families are forced to leave. Of course, by doing it this way, rich people can bring their families over with little problem, because they can afford to cover their expenses.

After all, can't risk Trump cutting off his supply of Eastern European model-wifes. Melania is getting a bit long in the tooth for Don's taste, maybe he can find a slinky Slovak more Ivanka's age.

Sorry to resurrect a flaming shitpile here, but as far as I can tell, there haven't been any deaths from "Leftist" riots in 2017. Not even that many injuries.
Yeah, a fair amount of property damage, but these have also been highly concentrated on the West Coast (Out of seven documented incidents, four were in California and three of *those* were in Berkeley.)

So yeah....this idea of "Oh teh noes its a wave of liberal violence" is nothing but snowflake chatter.

There's even odds of it. Somehow the mass murder and pile of dead people largely or entirely unaffiliated with the drug trade doesn't seem to bother people who like the guy, or they think whatever he's doing is worth the cost of vigilante death squads idling around parts of the country.
And if Trump's Long Island speech can be taken at face value, that's what he'd like to see here.
