DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Lazy Dwarves: No Dumping

I am taking my own shot in the dark and thinking that you mean stone. IIRC back in my fortress, I couldn't dump any stone that was designated for a construction. Even cancelling the construction still kept it undumpable.

Above ground farming has always been around, it can only be done on soil or muddied ground. (Trees, Shrugs and I think those blocking stones all block, but you can still build around it [meaning it will just ignore that square and build all around it])

Might have something to do with it being two handed?
Try setting the dwarf combat preferences to using two handed weapons?

Thta was the first thing I did when I saw the problem they still kept dancing... Worst part was that when forced to attack an incoming brute they tried playing fisty cups...

My only guess is that you havn't done enough jobs in which the wiki states (most people miss out on this part) "You also need to do a variety of different jobs in the previous year (and have the caravan survive) to trigger the baron. 4 of the following: 25 crafting jobs, 25 metal-related jobs, 25 wood-related jobs, 10 gem jobs, 25 stone jobs, 25 food jobs. "

If your liason is dead, I don't think you'd beable to report that you did these jobs to him therefore no Barony

EDIT: I know you mentioned that you don't think it caused this, but you never know that you might be wrong =\

I finally managed to get some shotgun ammo (thanks to the new system) but the survivor just does the pickup equipment dance, any explanation on it?

You cannot mine every segment, can you? When designating digging, game does not allow digging edges of map.

You can still channel the border which you CAN mine delivering the same effect...

New Design (Found playing the Zombie Mod)

I lucked out and got a magma pipe in the perfect spot one z level below my enterance. Collapsed the maximum space for a retracting bridge. I intend to put the bridge there, connect it to a lever. When I get mass rushed, I intend to flip the switch making them fall into the lava, hopefully they will be cleansed in the fires of whatever fire god my dwarves worship...

I got this last night, and I have to say I hate it. But in this hate is really a love for the challenge, just the fustration of trying to get my Fort ready against hordes of zombies.

I spent one of my classes fighting off a horde of zombies with only two Champion Marksmen (they were recruits when they started) while the Master Furnace Operator was churning out copper to the Expert Weaponsmith who was making air rifle pellets. (I wasn't aware on how to exactly make ammo untill I got home today.)

One question I have is about the Civlizations. On my laptop, I played as the Corperation, while on my PC I am Survivors. (I wouldn't of minded it being the other way around lol) What determines what civilization you are?

Another one is about Cave Adaptation, do any races get this?

A complement I have is of the Survivor's low amount of starting points, while screwing over any  it really emphisises [sic] the desparity they are in as opposed to the other races who seem to have major advantages over you.

In conclusion, a great mod even in the current form, I applaud how you turned one of my greatest interests into one of my greatest dreads. Keep up the good work! (And for the love of god somehow make a cheap anvil lol)

A complement is the way you amde survivors. Their low start made me have to actually think about what I should get and what is important to me

I have been enjoying making a 3x3 Down Stairwell surrounded by walls (starting off either 1 two layer thick or a few walls with a one square trapped corridor.) Usually I build the walls to exclude the Trade Depot (making a C shaped boundary, guarded by some towers) with a door for quick passage. so I can keep the Dwarves tucked in nice and cozy while allowing the caravans to come without exclusion of Wagons

You could always use Markdwarves get enough bolts and you'd beable to genocide them all. By making them stick to their station, harrass animals and maybe building a platform which would make them have to go all the way around. You could make a small killzone that'd protect your dwarves

Dungeon Master : Appears when you find a special area (the actual name eludes me, but like an underground lake, river, magma, etc.)

Baron : You need to do an intense amount of jobs to get this. (3 of the following according to Dwarf Wiki : 25 Stone Jobs, 25 Wood Jobs, 25 Metal Jobs, 25 Craft Jobs, 25 Food Jobs and 10 Gem Jobs)

After Baron, you should shoot up to about maybe Duke, and stay there. Unless they all died...

To save yourself traps, just put them around where they usually graize. For example, I found that a herd of Unicorns kept goign pass the same part of the brook. When you capture one, they almost LOCK there to the point where they will always go to the same place... Pretty spiffy...
