"Hey folks, theres a group of heavily supplied people over that way, i saw them from the roof. We gotta decide quick if were gonna law low, befreind them or cannibalize them or what. Form a team in case there are radiation zombies or something you can never be too carefull. They have animals and may be diseased we dont want none of that so watch out"

I will form some kind of locking mechanism for the gatehouse, even if its just a chain across the doors. Then I will close off any easily blocked other entrances, Anything difficult to seal off i will trap with small spikes set into the window ledges, I use the small scrap metal for this. Then sharpen the piercing metal, pee on it, and hide it under ash and inform the others present to be careful at those places. I try to find a crate or sturdy storage bin and jars or cans.

Day 35... Adwarf Has become Captain of the Guard!
The Waxing Moon sets and the sun rises on a new day, Within the fortress walls is crowded, with even the walkspace being filled with the nearly matured shoots of young plants. Blood Gnats still pester, but the days are becoming warmer at least. Oddly though , the swamp beyond sporadically bubbles suspiciously.

Cheddarius borrows the masons workshop, and quickly puts out a single rock throne and finishes the shift by contributing to the walls progress. (16/32%done). That same evening, he works outside and despite the blood gnats, and despite the windchill, he nearly half completes the breastplate  (160/400,%), before eating and waiting for someone to open the front entrance so he can go to sleep indoors. (-13 rock -1iron bar +1 rock throne)

Cog The Fisher cleans fish

Cog ,The Glass one, Sleeps through the morning, and cuts glass in the evening (+7 cut glass? glass blocks? glass gem? and -7 raw green glass). before manipulating Ochita, he barely grumbles but agrees to do some tommorrow. He tries chatting people up longer but everyone is filling their bellies from the barrels before sleeping by nighttime. He searches for Nanothnir by the moonlight but he encounters Eral first. She she moans and grumbles in her bed and hardly seems to pay attention to Cogs words, occasionaly kicking in her sleep. Maybe shes sick. One of the puppies licks her face, magically healing her, or not. Oh well she sets up the glass statue atop some of the farm and it sinks in a little sideways, but it is quickly fixed.

Garul Equips himself. Passing through the perimiter walls open doorway, he patrols about, but nothing in particular stands out. At least not to his perception. he takes a break occasionaly, but he is ready if anything comes at the fort.

Hrodegr (-2 tent + 2 Overalls 120$ each) Works diligently, making something hopefully useful out of  some unneeded tents

Nirur Equips himself a bit, and hurls sludge out of his other tower basement with his shovel. It is hard work, and his endurance is not enough to keep from being tired, but by the end the room is clear. Afterwards he lays a wood unit over the opening in case of a storm, so he doesn't have to do it again anytime soon. We walks back to his workshop, and gets to crafting. A MASTERPEICE. (Crit) The table and chest are both works of art. They belong in a museum or grotto maybe. zzz

Ochita digs through siltstone and other sedminentary layers in search of some possible flux stone, but instead finds entombed skeletal creatures that thrash about for freedom as he digs. They are easily dispatched.

Revist Goes out fully armed, he collects some wood. He has to go out pretty far now, the surrounding landscape is mostly depleted of wood, and it takes a longer and more dangerous journey to collect.

Urist collects soem of the group basics, and roasts meat and Hardtack, grinding it up with the meat juices. It is marinating all day and all night and he remarks it will be ready for tommorow. (-16 meat -16 bad food +32 Breaded Yum Yum Meat Rolls+)

Night 35 approaches... *Warning Claxon*

I like that in Neyvns world, relationships start at 2.5th base *High five*

Vallan gets up early to be working as soon as day breaks
2 hours Survival: gather the days rations and eat them as necessary
16 hours Major Task : Carpentry; finish the half-done entrance door and the rest beds. Make boards as/if necessary, use the new block as the workshop if possible.
6 hours sleep.

"If you're gonna be weaving Ill take some proper dwarven clothes over these rags, starting with a coat ...and ending with an extravagant hat."

OOC: Are we gonna have to refer to this as the mysterious Shade-o incident untill this gets resolved?

You can talk to any NPC and use your skills and attributes to influence them. Although Nanothnir has not been seen for days now, you havent seen him in like nearly a week, and Etur has been only seen sleeping for days too. They are not unfriendly, and getting them to work on something i have a system for that takes into account their mood, your charisma and any social skills + any reasoning or roleplay bonus. Penalties if you try to make them work more than 8 hours a day.

EDIT volcano edge means that on a 2d plane, the line represents the dividing line between outside and underground. To the right of the black line the surface elevation rises

your suggestions from earlier about weaponry are going into effect soon if nobody objects cheddarius, nobody but cog replied to your armament queries earlier much. Except i think i gave Nirur the crossbow already. I'll repost updated inventories if you want, or at least before it matters.

834
didnt someone already get scolded earlier for backseat gming? I think ill wait for neyvns replies no offence, really i mean it im not being sarcastic. i didnt say anything earlier but you are interjecting into everything

835
2 hours eating berries throughout the day
3 hours minor action construct carpenters workshop underground and consume toolset with rock
3 hours minor action construct mechanics workshop underground with rock
4 make boards
4 make boards
8 hours sleep on my bed, preferably underground if convenient enough

OOC: can i keep the tools with me? i dont want them stolen by kobolds.

836
ok im crossing out my days actions and reposting them

837
if boulder gave me a +3 what would a rock or a block or a wooden table give? I had assumed things worked like in dwarf fortress. Does one unit of wood still make a door or a wooden ring? or is that unrealism out too?

838
ok thanks for the insight, in that case can i set up a workshop with rock inside the mountain now? would that be bad? or is rock the same as boulder? is the ground better than boulder?

839
Remind somebody else that a random boulder isn't a good carpentry workbench.

It's on my to-do list.

huh? a rock is what dwarves use in the game, the map shows what appear to be rocks on the riverbank i thought those would work just as well as mining rocks, am i supposed to make a table first? or would working on the ground be better? also it took me like hours to find these rocks apparently

840
OOC:Since i cannot tell how long it will take for my objectives will complete, can i post my actions as priorities?  The problem is i dont know if i can eat enough for one day with 2 hours or 4 hours, or if i have slept enough to not have wasted a major task. So my declared actions would look like this 1 sleep fully rested 2 eat fully filled 3 construct 1 bed 4 construct door 5 construct buckets untill im out of wood, 6 make mechanisms. Just as an example.

IC:Otherwise my actions are
3 hours eating drinking whatever throughout the day whenever hungry
4 hours power nap on my bed
major task make beds, let the injured dwarf have the next bed if i complete any
4 hours super nap

OOC i dont understand why im failing, am i doing something wrong? how many hours should a bed take? do i need a rock unit instead of a boulder to have a workshop? are my tools taken into account? They looked like rock units on the map .16 hours on one bed seems like a fail. Did i roll bad? is my dwarf a sissy? does he need to be fed and tucked in by his mom? Could i have spend 4 minor actions and made 4 beds? Is there some daily template I should be following with more sleep? If he is a sissy I object, I can work 16 hours a day for 2 weeks at a time with just a tent MRE's and a sleeping bag, dwarves should be hardier than people, at least metal dwarves with endurance, its only day 2. Otherwise if one bed is typical ignore me. since it dosent seems liek anyone not in a fey mood got much done either.
