God was obviously playing Spore when he created the platypus.

Orson is full of shit. The only times he even talks about his books is when he's advertising them or givin pre-release interviews, then he apparently forgets about key plot points from his own books. 90% he just rambles about mormon stuff, how homosexuality is hawrrible, and odd subjective references to Ayn Rand, though he'll never admit it.

Harlan is annoying aswell, but he's so unintentionally ridiculously funny nobody even cares.

This topic reminds me of why I really hate the sci-fi crowd.
And this is only because a sci fi movie. If this was about a sci fi book we'd have went through the 9th layer of hell and back already, specially if it involved certain pretentious sci fi writers, like Orson Scott Card and Harlan Ellison.

Character name: Goblin
But hey no worries I am just exploring around trying to see if MUDs are for me or not. So far it is like a creepy, sadistic Zork with tons of PKers lol.

Really accurate description thar.

Remember kids, cops will shoot you if you try to murder someone in front of them. Also, doing it in front of your kid is baaaaad mkay.

The indigo thing has been around for a while, and its just a silly excuse for attention starved parents to say their child "came from the stars and has such immense level of intelligence that we can't possibly understand it" rather then just admitting he/she has autism. Its pretty sad.

I once read an excerpt from a book about idigos that they avoid talking to anyone or resfuse to answer to you or parents because they're busy talking telephatically, and that they act all bossy around other people (family members or otherwise) because they come to this world from a superior level of existence as a figure of authority and expect to be treated as such. I shit you not.

Those adults who resist change and who value conformity may misunderstand the Indigos. They are often mislabeled with psychiatric diagnoses of Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Sadly, when they are medicated, the Indigos often lose their beautiful sensitivity, spiritual gifts and warrior energy..........In contrast, the Crystal Children are blissful and even-tempered. Sure, they may have tantrums occasionally, but these children are largely forgiving and easy-going. The Crystals are the generation who benefit from the Indigos trailblazing. First, the Indigo Children lead with a machete, cutting down anything that lacks integrity. Then the Crystal Children follow the cleared path, into a safer and more secure world.

"Mrs Smith, Your son's grades are below average, I'm afraid he has a learning disability, he also refuses to interact peacefully with his classmates, if at all."

"Oh dear! He must be a superior being from another dimension!"

It goes pretty much like that. What makes it even worse (and funnier at the same time) its that its not a one person thing, there's a whole goddamn community build around this.

These card's mana costs are too high for what they do, not like we're doing it seriously anyway :P

If we felt insane enough though, we could most likely build Dwarf Fortress MtG universe block though, It'd take +100 cards somewhat balanced with eachother though.

I think you're more of a god-like figure that can affect their lives directly. I mean, you can read their thoughts, influence them to create unescessary contructions that may or not be used to cause their ultimate doom, and eventualy create an avatar for yourself in their world.

Look at one of your dead adventurer's story in legends, it'll say he was "guided by unknown forces" or something like that.

Something along the lines of: Although accounts may vary, it is universely assumed he/she was guided by unknown forces.

I get less then 1 gold per province really. They're just basic provinces with few contructions, but seriously, at least 3 of them have the rich status.

My stewardship does suck though, so I wonder.

Whats an effective way to increase your army's size? As a Duke owning around 6-7 provinces, 3 of them being given to my sons, my total army size is just about 2.800 men, anything I'm doing wrong?

And if experienced wizards have near god-like powers, society's values and morals shouldn't be that important to them as they are to regular civ members.
After all, who would stop them? Spoiler: Other wizards. ;D

They could certainly try, wizard-wizard wars would be fun to watch. But what if the other wizards are just as bad, if not worse?  :P

Few quick questions, I realize this is a alpha, but here goes anyway:

How do I build contructed walls?

How do I (or can I) move between Z levels?

Can I have a bigger area to build in?

Also, it refuses to load the maps it came with, at least for me  :-[

similar to how he would have to add in extra code to keep children from being brually killed.
and then there's the double-standard for killing animal and/or animal-man babies as opposed to civ entity babies.

Also, necrophilia was mentioned a page back. Obviously once magic rolls around you'll start getting souls and zombies, and zombies with souls. Eventually the question of "Will this human zombie who has the original soul returned to it seek out their spouse? What if their spouse is also a zombie?" and, to confuse things even more: What happens when the human zombie has a dwarf soul in it? And that human zombie/dwarf soul goes to find their old dwarven spouse while getting chased by the human sides' spouse?
That's a story i'd be interested in reading the ending to. (The claymation movie "Corpse Bride" comes to mind, too)

It wasn't a claymation, me thinks, but thats irrelevant.

I do think crazy romantic wizards could eventualy try to bring their dead lovers back to life. I mean, if wizards are going to be nearly as powerful as Toady plans them to be, they should be able to make personal choices and have personal goals that they'd certainly use their powers to achieve, and not just world affecting decisions or silently studying away inside a impossibly huge tower. And if experienced wizards have near god-like powers, society's values and morals shouldn't be that important to them as they are to regular civ members.

Eh, maybe get some some bitter tint wine, pour it over melted sugar (or melt the sugar poring wine over it as you do it), then just stick it in the fridge and see what it turns into, the tint wine's bitterness should counter the sugary sugarness a bit. I think it'd get too messy if you added honey on it.

I sorta wanna try this when no one's home  ::)
