Man, I leave for a moment and my character gets slashed up and paralyzed by a ghoul... AND mustachioed!

287
There is that, but you can't activate BKB if you're already asleep. Gotta be sneaky to catch the Siren.

288
Naga's pretty safe with Radiance. You can farm the whole dire side without leaving the radiant if you're quick with the illusion orders. On the other hand, maybe you get distracted enough doing that that the other team comes to kill you directly.

>Press R, TP out

He's pretty fast, but Antimage, Tiny, Naga, Nature's Prophet, and Satan are all pretty dang fast too. His illusions are really good for pushing towers, and decent for farming, but they don't clear stacks well.

Tinker can be fast as well but his accursed presence has been nerfed into the dirt this patch. (And he can stay buried.)

Session today?

Shit, I'm late as hell. I'm gonna get on if it's up.

EDIT: Doesn't appear to be. Sorry, missed a few buses on my way back home.

Creative Projects / Re: Suggest a book

My favorite book is The Caves of Steel by Asimov. The rest of that series and the Foundation series are in the same universe, and they're pretty good, but that book is something else. Dystopian robo-buddy-cop books are the best.

Game on today?

I'm trying to remember how to do vector calculus today, because college is back in session and I need that stuff if I'm going to learn how to model what my professor calls 'spooky action at a distance'.

His ult damages those who move through it and makes a clone of them, position it somewhere they have to run through, or pull them through it using your Q.  Extra points for cloning their 'Dusa with a rapier and her Split Arrows on.
Bonus damage like Rapier doesn't apply to illusions, only base stats. You'd be better served cloning their Medusa with a Skadi and a Butterfly. Or their Luna with her +damage aura for your team.

The early game is basically the same, farm with ion shells, bully melee heroes because they can't fight back against a high level ion shell, save Surge for getting away from lanes with lots of slows like Venomancer. Dark Seer is tanky, so aura items like Mekansm, Pipe, Vlads, etc are all really good on him. If the enemy has carries that rely on passives or raw stats to scale, your wall is a game-winning ability. Get aghs and you can literally kill the entire enemy team with souped-up versions of their own carries.

Played another 80 minute rapier bonanza tonight.  When you get to the 80 minute mark whoever picked the greediest lineup wins because everyone is 6 slotted.

>Get obliterated
>Lose two lanes of barracks
>Nearly kill opposing team
>Kill opposing phoenix thanks to stupid supernova positioning
>Everyone gets buyback, suicide charges enemy team
>Buy back, win fight with last melee barracks at 200 HP

And that's the story of how I went from zero to rapier in 20 seconds as Medusa. I spent most of the rest of the game camped out in our base fending off attacks on our exposed last barracks and ancient. Farmed up a Manta to remove Phoenix's slows and Pugna's Decrepify. Wiped them once, got a free daedalus. Wiped them twice, slithered down mid and won the game. That was a hollow-ass victory to say the least. I should have lost.

Anywho, based Icefrog putting out the patches at 3 AM. Kill streaks are worth a bit less when you end them, and the aoe gold multiplier has been cut in half. I hope this fixes things.

No, having 10% more block on her mana shield is why medusa is winning more.

Well, this handy dandy picture of a bunch of graphs might convince you.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hard carries: up and up! Spectre got a 10% winrate boost because her desolate... ignores the bkbs that got nerfed. Alright.

Early/Mid/Snowball heroes: way down.  Venomancer and Vengeful Spirit go up because they are agility heroes that scale very well into the lategame. Outworld Devourer goes up because he's actually a hard carry and I'm not sure why this table necessarily lists him as a snowball hero. Lion goes up because he's one of the best-scaling-with-farm supports out there, and is one of the few heroes that can reliably lock down hard carries even in the late game thanks to Hex being the one way to stop passives without an Aghanim's Scepter doom. (Who is hemorrhaging winrate partially due to his nerfs and partially due to the fact that his whole 'I innately give my team a gold advantage as an aspect of my hero' schtick is now absolutely worthless.)

That XP graph really shows off the new comeback mechanics.
I really, really hope those mechanics get toned down a bit. I've been playing dota for a long time, and the matches I've played on this patch just... don't really feel like dota. Sure, I like winning. But I also like the challenge of coming back from a difficult start and scraping out a win that seems impossible. There really isn't a feeling of being behind anymore, because a single teamfight where you kill two or three enemy heroes, even if your entire team gets wiped, will net your team several thousand gold. It's ridiculous. You can just forgo strategy and run at the enemy team for free comebacks. You don't have to dodge fights, try to outmaneuver the enemy... it's not fun to me. It's like if in smash bros you constantly healed if you were above 80% damage. It's like playing through an entire soccer game, the score being 10-1, and the ref deciding that the next goal wins the game.

The worst part is that there really isn't a place for the heroes I most like to play, early game oriented supports or gankers. If you go and give your team an early lead, that's great... except that if anything goes wrong you're going to put the other team right back on equal footing with you. And if their team scales better (which they probably do if you picked a hero like Spirit Breaker or Crystal Maiden) you are pretty screwed. This is why Medusa suddenly has a 55.16% winrate. Spectre has a 62.80% winrate. That's ridiculous!

Is this a play by post or maptools campaign, and if it's the latter, are there spots left?

While I always liked the fact that Doom could counter anyone with his ultimate, it was definitely high time he got nerfed. There were periods in the last few months where he was literally at 100% pick or ban in pro games. I'm glad they kept his passive-stopping ability with the scepter though. It was an item that was sometimes picked up before, but now it's definitely core in some games. I think he'll still be fairly common against heroes like PA and Huskar (if Huskar enters the meta!) because it's the only way to shut down their passives without Duel and Chronosphere doing it.

Also, is it me or is huskar a fair bit stronger now? :v
Yep! If his opponents don't have enough damage to burst him down, he is going to go nuts on them at the ten minute mark.
