Other Games / Re: Dota 2 - Techies? TECHIES

Bloodseeker now doesn't seem to be quite the pubstomper he was previously, but now is even more reliant on his ultimate to be able to land his new silence, but gets Thirst bonuses regardless of whether an enemy is visible to him or not, unless I'm reading the notes incorrectly. Bloodrage affecting spell damage is a nice opportunity for a Lion or Lina to instantly gib an enemy if used well via teamwork. No passive life regain on kill makes me a sad panda, as he doesn't get an easy mid anymore.
Bloodrage on Zeus: Easy +40% damage for his global ult instead of preventing him from casting at all. Also fun with Dagon cheese. I also like the fact that you can keep it up on two people at once, which is hilarious with blademail in play. I think he could be a pretty solid position 4 semi-support hero with minor scaling for the lategame like Abaddon. He provides a hell of a lot more utility than he did before, which is impressive. (Nobody else could permanently silence an enemy hero except Doom with Aghanim's Scepter!)

I would like to put forth that I also find Kem to be grating and I wish you would either develop her to the point of being reasonable or simply stop being such a pest all the time.

On the other hand, I find Ashera to be a pretty interesting character with a pretty good role in the scheme of this campaign setting. Call me biased because I've been playing with Lucus for the past 3-4 years, but I would honestly prefer to play with Ashera in the campaign than Kem. It helps that Lucus is a level-headed individual. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to Rolepgeek continuing to play with a less aggravating character, but that seems to be a pattern with their characters in each campaign we've played together, so take that with a boulder of salt.

I keep trying to be the voice of reason in the party, making light of Kem's completely absurd actions towards the rest of the party. My thought has always been that if I make light of it, maybe everyone else can follow suit and we can maintain a good atmosphere. But come on, that hour and a half we spent talking in circles about the morality of killing bandits that attacked us versus crippling them and sending them off into the wastes? Literally ATTACKING Ashera? I've gone into each session with the idea to either say nice things or say nothing at all, both as a personal habit and as something that fits the character I've created. Sometimes I've come off as impatient, trying to move on and solve problems more directly. I don't like our polylogue sessions much of the time because they almost invariably turn to Rolepgeek's irrational badgering of Lucus' character or into torturous (and labyrinthine) moral debates.

And this?

Have fun getting hypnotized and charmed all the time.

Don't fuck with the head-fucker. I'm going into Mindbender. You really want to start a grudge?

I've never seen someone show such plain disrespect and spitefulness towards another player in a D&D group. I am not going to play D&D with you, Rolepgeek. Not if you're going to play it that way. It's not fun for the rest of the group, or I imagine Shonus. I'm here for the story and the joy of a group dynamic, and while you do fine with the former, you have been slaughtering the latter for this entire campaign.

I will be on in 20 minutes I think.

Why are we playing the "These characters in MOBAs are the same" game?
They're not the same at all except for their color schemes and that they get slightly harder to kill when you lower their health. The joke is that I was making that comparison in reference to that game without them actually being comparable.

Whoops, I thought today was Tuesday. Good to hear, though. I can't wait for class to start up so I have weekends to keep track of time.  :P

If I had to associate a number with my shitlordiness, I'd give it a 130.

As for my anime girl stereotype, I am Genki. I'm fuckin brimming with sunshine over here.

The lowest note I'm able to match on a piano is A1, which is about 55 Hz. I can only sing long tones that low though, since it takes some effort to even make the sound.

Heyo, not sure if I've ever uploaded my voice to Bay12 but here it is singing some songs from The Sacred Harp that I learned during a shapenote class last winter. I unfortunately don't know any of the parts very well other than the bass-2 parts, so that's what I've got here.

Africa
Babylon Has Fallen
David's Lamentation
The Gospel Pool
Melancholy Day

That's the one part I've really never bought, the claim that damage reduction which scales with missing health is akin to some sort of arcane branch of theoretical physics in terms of how easily the average person can understand it.

...

On a completely unrelated note, one of the guys in the next room over just started singing Pentakill songs to himself. xD
I was just lurking in this thread out of curiousity (I play DOTA 2 and have only played 2 bot matches of LOL) and I was just mentally comparing this Poppy champion to the DOTA 2 hero Huskar. (Huskar's passive increases his attack speed and magic resistance the lower his health gets, to 99.99% magic resist at about 5% hp.) And then I saw what Poppy looks like and had to chuckle.

Minmax has started as a literal joke about how people abuse the system to gain combat advantage by gaining all sorts of non-combat flaws.

Using him as a legit character that we're supposed to care about later is, well, kinda doesn't mesh well.
And there is the joke, part 2.

Starting at 4:30 or 5 would work better than our current time (4) for me. I usually get back right at 4, so if I have groceries to put away or mail to check before I get on my computer I tend to be that late anyway.

D&D today?

What's the deal with Techies?  Are the bombs detectable? What's the best way to counter?

The bombs are detectable by true sight. Sentry wards in the area you're pushing can reveal them to you, but be wary that techies often puts mines on top of ramps or in juke spots that might be in fog even with true sight on the low ground or in the lane. A gem of true sight is a good way to make them useless, too. Be warned, though, the bombs explode when destroyed so you want a ranged hero to do the clearing. As far as the best hero counters, here's a list.

1. Zeus can spam his Lightning Bolt (which provides true sight and flying vision in the area around the bolt) to detect mines at medium range.

2. Anyone who can make illusions can easily clear the red lane mines and stasis traps by summoning illusions and walking them far in front of everyone else to set them off. Beware that they won't set off the green remote mines, which techies must activate manually.

3. Anyone with summons can do the same as illusions, but this is a little less reliable since the summons give gold and xp to techies when they die. Lone Druid's bear is good for tanking small amounts of mines and surviving, but is bad because it gives 300 gold to techies if it dies. Probably the best options are Invoker's forge spirits, Beastmaster's boars (the hawk gives a lot of gold but provides useful flying vision too) and any shitty creep dominated by Chen or Enchantress.

Don't try running into the mines with blade mail, technically the mines are the units doing the damage, not techies himself. So he won't take damage.

I'm usually not a feeder, so if any of you guys who are frustrated with feeders wants to party up, I'm down to play today.

I'll admit, I don't like the new logo. I've never really liked the slimy hyper-detailed goop he uses sometimes, but maybe the comic is returning to normal. I guess we'll find out soon.
