That actually sounds like a decent challenge. Survive the initial hostility and wipe out the invaders to take their living space, as the entire point of the fort.

I have a few questions, before I start serious work on the Elf Drowner ver. 2.

1. Do raised drawbridges block flow?

2. How long do drawbridges have to be to catapult occupants?

3. Do they catapult reliably in the direction of operation?

4. Will a raised drawbridge completely prevent movement through it?

In essence, I'm intending to use a raising bridge to cut off exit from my trade depot and cause the traders to drown to death. The previous system of floodgates had the issue of being blocked by animals standing on them, so I'm hoping I can catapult anyone standing on it into the depot itself, while stopping the water escaping so they can actually drown.

It's not rare in my forts. Every one I've run for more than a few years, I had two or three artifact mechanisms.
Of course, this is probably due to me considering it an unskilled labour job and simply jamming everyone on it because I want it done RIGHT THIS FUCKING SECOND BEFORE I RUN OUT.

Dwarves clean up blood and puke readily, but not mud. It's odd. A fort of mine has had a muddy staircase for a decade thanks to me screwing up the levers on the elf drowner and turning on the pumps before shutting the floodgates.

I think it was 2/7 or 3/7 that was the minimum on my obsidian farm, dumping between 2-3/7 water into it through channeling out a chunk of solid obsidian next to the magma. 1/7 water just flashed into steam, 1/7 magma didn't move and just evaporated.

Nuts. Deleted, regenned, re-embarked, dug the other side of the river.

No soil layer, so I'll have to piss around with irrigation.
