I've always used crafts myself. I've always wondered if the entire fortresses worth of stone that I carve into masterwork crafts by the truckload have collapsed the outside world's craft market. Every time I buy out a caravan at 3x it's value I imagine there's a destitute human craftsman somewhere in the world, weeping.

This is somewhat similar to a thing I did for a short while, long long ago, in before-times. I'm glad to see someone else had the same idea and much better artistic sense!

Thats ok. Deaths in the name of Dwarven Science are the most noble deaths of all!

I think every dwarf fortress player eventually tries his hand at slavery and discovers those same facts. I know thats how I found those out.

The question about caged nobles and mandates is interesting though. That would be an elegant solution if it worked.

I once genned a world in which there was a place called "The Famous Dune" in the middle of a desert. I briefly considered adventuring to it just to find out why it was so famous, before embarking instead to volcano island with 2 salt water aquifer layers.

Throwing while sneaking will allow you to take down pretty much anything. And you don't even have to throw anything good. Sand, water, corpses, coins... its pretty much all the same. Just keep throwing until they are sufficiently injured then gouge their eyes out and break their limbs. They're pretty easy to kill after that.

You can always try things like climbing to mountain peaks and whatnot. Surviving the cold and monsters without {T}raveling while managing food and water and sleep.

Or you can place limits on yourself. For instance my current adventurer wears no armor. Or clothes for that matter.

Well, the way I do it is to find a nice area full of wolves. Run from anything stronger. Encounter more than 1 or 2 wolves? Run. While running, you can throw stuff at them. I like wolf corpses, coins and sand. If you get lucky you might injure enough of them to start wrestling them to death (or slicing, bludgeoning, lashing, or chopping them to death). After a little of that you won't need to run any more and can work your way up to bigger stuff. Having some swimming helps too, since it lets you hide in the water and throw mud from a safe distance.

If you're so inclined, you can also sneak into your race's settlements, find a sleeping guard, strangle him to death and knick his stuff. If you're feeling guilty about strangling him to death while he is peacefully asleep in bed with his wife and child, you can just grab the armor you want and use the Interact menu to gain possession of it. Note however that they will know what you've done. Even though they were all asleep, and weren't even awakened by you hastily ripping their armor off, you were secretly being recorded by their iron age surveillance cameras. Anyways, decent equipment will make everything a little easier too.

But when that day comes, the world will fall apart because of so many people making their own house.
Bah. I'm going to dig my way to the core and all the eldritch horrors that lie within! And my naked wrestler will pinch them into submission! Or die. Or be inflicted with a pain worse than death. Those last two seem more likely, but if experience has taught me anything its that if you throw enough coins, sand, vomit, or corpses at enemies they will eventually succumb. Eventually.

He defeats orc sieges without breaking a sweat.
He has created more wealth than the rest of his civilization combined.
He once got a yellow wound just to see how it would feel.
He is Morul, the most interesting dwarf in the world.

There is fanart here just waiting to be drawn!

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / The True Adventures of _____________

So I had this idea to illustrate some hilarious moments in my various adventure mode quests. And lets face it, there isn't much in adventure mode that isn't hilarious in the right context. Take for example this simple encounter between Ilre Asnatiquo and a common woodland creature:

Note to Mods: I wasn't sure if this belonged in Stories or Here, since it is adventure mode specific and isn't exactly a story. Feel free to move it.

Yeah, in that form you can't even hold rocks very long because they melt. I still want to be able to [>] while on the ground to make lava.

Dig for victory!
