Ive got stronghold warchest in my house somewhere, I liked the first one and I was all for buying the second one but it got to many bad reviews so I never did. (In saying that on a daily basis I hold less faith in the big corporate reviews)

« on: December 21, 2008, 04:17:35 pm »
Ive got fallout, enjoyable but very short term, main story was like a demo, thats my view. Please dont shoot me :) but I can see why original fallout 2 fans arent happy, I mean lets face it; its thank to them the game made it and betheshda has essentially changed the genre. I aint going to sit here and argue though, I actually came on here to ask one thing, is there a proper modding kit out for F3 , i.e TES?

As fo it being one of the best RPGs ever, well everyones entitled to their opinion and I would say no its knowhere near best RPG ever UNLESS you rate the dues EX games really highly and they are everything you would see embodied in your favourite RPGS. To me betheshda games are good for people just comming into the RPG games and maybe have some preconcieved ideas of them being for geeks; I had that misconception years back and now I guess I have turned out loving anything and everything RPG :) I think betheshda games in the MODERN sense are good entry level games but for the hardcore D&D types which used to play all the D&D roleplaying games as kids I doubt F3 is going to keep them happy long.

The game feels rushed, you cant even join factions and the choices mean nothing, well all but the Nuke. I liked it but I just get the distinct feeling games are fast becommimng a case of "Lets rush them half done out the door and sell them 100 installments as a franchise"

I also reckon morrowind had far superior content and storyline than oblivion but I know many people disagree. For fallout 3 to have been epic it would have had to have had significant replay value but not many people will go through the whole game more than once imo. F2 was a turn based game which involved alot of tactics where as the only tactics needed in F3 is press the vats key , end of story so I aint surprised some of the old fans are a bit miffed but I guess thats just me

hehe cheers appreciated!  ;D About the exams , yeah thankfully the end of the first term of the first year of my course doesnt have exams........yet. We did have to do alot of reports and practical logs/excersises which will be graded and thankfully I have got my stuff handed in. I was at college but I had a year out prior to UNI and although I have done well this term I usually freak out a bit under exam conditions so I am kinda worried whether I will have the motivation and intelligence to do the four years, I guess many people think like that. Out of curiosity, what year are you in?

Seriously though good luck with those exams, I just started UNI and luckily I came from quite a strict college because the UNI I am at they really cut you some slack but many people are struggling because they kept putting off, it is an easy thing to do and Im just glad I didnt do it in the first term because It means I can chill for christmas but hell it must be a worry having those exams! Its good you are having time to chill though, Its sometimes needed to switch of for a bit, thats what I find.

hehe noted about what you were saying regarding flaming, its usually at the point I think, "here this community is good" that I get flamed to bits haha

Yeah thats great to hear! Just joined this community because of DF but I have found that bay12 does lots of games. I am enjoying majesty and am not near touching the expansion yet so it will be fun to see what thats like.

After just joining this place and asking around I know have heaps of free stuff to try as well, cant believe I never knew of this community before hand having spent LOTS of time on my PC.

Really cool place, you folks seem to have a dam decent community where people can voice their opinions without getting flamed to bits; I havent been here long though so maybe I was just lucky but Im optimistic! Glad I joined since I have had lots off good suggestions and its good to get feedback from others who are as obssesed about gaming as myself!

Just sitting here getting drunk playing majesty :) and other games, cheers for all the feedback as I can have a great christmas now and have something to show for my money+ heaps of free and indie games which are great.

Yeah I know its a really demanding set of criteria, I guess Im just always looking for quirky, unique or groundbreaking stuff but failing that just really fun and with depth with good npc interactions and character building

Just curious to see what people come up with as I am going to be settling on text games for a while again :) , kinda sick of graphics, I know that must seem weird but I guess I have just spoiled myself with them, in saying that playing majesty atm and enjoying that!

Cool thread btw, I just recently bought an Amiga of ebay and Im sitting here with a top notch PC as well but I honestly believe having seen all kinds of games that you can still have great fun with old old games. Granted Im pretty obssesed with gaming , but the less said about that the better :D

hmmmm just trying to think of an old racing game, tell you what I will try and come up with some more for tommorow as Im playing Majesty atm, but one old game and I think were talking on an atari 65 xe here lol which was awesome at the time was lotus turbo espris challenge or something.

Ok just googled its

lotus turbo esprit challenge

actually just thought of another racing game that was dam epic in its day and there must be huge amounts of free clones these days, i.e outrun

Ow and what was that one where you were in some black cop/fbi car or something and you had to catch the criminal by trying to speed up and smash bits of there car then there would be a graphics cut scene where you would haul a gun out and arrest them? Crap cant remember the name

In relation to gran turismo , that is the daddy of racing games! I wish that was out for the PC
Sega rally is another one

Hi,

I have been looking for some kind of massive unique roguelike game. It would be good to have a text game where you can build houses and castles but it works like an RPG and you go around speaking to NPCs like in a very good PVE mud, its got a good quest system and has hack and slash but more than just that, a good immersive storyline. Im not talking so much interactive fiction more like a mud crossed with a rogue game , crossed with a strategy, but still the primary concern is on character building and leveling.

OW its gotta be free in this instance, feel free to add any text games you like to this thread that you think are absolutely epic and astounding.

I got to the center of the galaxy within 2 weeks, the game is medicore and yes it is enjoyable for a time, a very short time. I realise everyone will see it differant but lets just put it this way, I noticed at the start of this thread some said "Its a shame they dumbed it down" , now Im not sure if that was a corrolation made with the old and new videos just before release when this thread started but I have to say "Yes" it was indeed dumbed down and badly and after Spore thats exactly when I realised the whole pigeon holing of gamers into hardcore and casual gamers is very detrimental because anything bad said about spore, its said "Ow well its not for hardcore gamers" and thats an excuse for the game seriously under-delivering and WW and his team (what at least in my view) overpromising what his team wasnt capable off.

Add insult to injury they imposed an absolutely crazy stupid terrible 3 install limit rental crap and well if you just look at the piracy stats fo spore gamers have hit back with Spore being billed by the news as one of the most pirated games ever. They then added an extra 2 installs and then in game it was found that there were remnants of a more complex game, i.e cell editor extras etc, like the game had been cut up so they could franchise it in a ridiculous manner like the sims. Next they bring out the parts pack which is waaay overly priced and tbh because spore is massive that kind of thing should have been comming free in patches. I waited on Spore fo 3 to 4 years and its been a HUGE dissapointement to me, all thiss justfied watering down in the name of the casual gamer, lets just get back to what is a quality game for all and what is not (A good game should be both accesible and deep)
