DF General Discussion / Re: Varkarrus has been content lately.

jaked has been feeling angry recently due to his younger sibling.
Jaked likes computers, numbers, C++, magma for it's ominous glow, and dogs for their hunting skills.
Jaked is a tenacious worshiper of George W bush, and Jesus
he is generally calm, he never asks for help unless he hasn't gotten his medicine today. he needs chocalate milk to get through the day and is overjoyed at its' abundance.

Windows 7 isn't slow, if you're playing on a newer system, it can take advantage of newer hardware better than XP could.

first DF related Fan programming that has nothing to do with memory editing, or ridiculous potrait generators... looks very impressive.

Make sure your dropped items actually, you know, hit the "chasm" tiles at the very bottom.  Things can land on shelves part-way down if you're not careful, and in that case obviously they'd still be in your lists.  Other then that I can't say I've ever really payed attention to the stocks of things I've dropped down a chasm.
Fortunatly I have a grate hanging over the middle of a very wide chasm.

We find a sweatshop in china, order a bunch of shirts in bulk.

I'm getting a bit serious now, but I have to say this.

Associating Dwarf Fortress with exploitation of cheap labour and poor working conditions has many connotations which I am not convinced are easily overcome by ensuring that profit is maximised.

The maximisation of profit is also not something that I personally associate in any way with the DF project, and one of the many reasons why I adore it.

I don't think this idea is clever.
sorry but it was nothing more than a joke.

You know I wonder if a shirt saying "Snatcher, Protect the Children!" Would make the wearer look like a pedo.

Also I vote for panties that say "You have struck adamantine! Praise the Miners!
two things that shouldMUST be done!

7) I made a ring menacing with too many spikes to wear (at least I think so).
there are never too many spikes!
1) I have tried to but failed to anger the elves.
2) i have found admantium once(modded)
3) I have tried to build a megatrap, but it killed my fortress... damn flood
4) HFS... chasm? underground river, once but it was short lived due to the chasm.
5) I've modded the dwarves to never drink yet still require alcohol... that worked well..
6) I've modded the dwarves to be larger than the bronze colossus, this really didn't work well.
7) I've made dwarves cats boil away instantaniously.
8 ) my dwarves froze instantaniously, only to be eaten by elves... WTF.
9) I've had a hundred megadragons(damned modding) attack at once.
10) I have never actually made steel? 1-9 were odd.

then why on my fortress do they stay in the stocks area as 'forbidden'? or does it clean the memory periodically?

DF General Discussion / Re: How to download Dwarf Fortress?
« on: May 15, 2009, 06:56:00 pm »
I really want to download this now that I've just acquired an external hard drive, and well... I don't even know how to download it to my computer. I simply clicked it, opened it up, and all these files, readme's and stuff came up.
this is going to dumbass computer questions.

DF General Discussion / Re: Possible Way to Have Multiplayer?

I'm no programmin' type, but I can imagine there would be a way to, once one person has chosen "World A", to remove "World A" from the list of accessible worlds until it's returned. my Uni library's version of E-Book checkout is like this

(Which makes no sense to me. I get why only university computers can access the E-books the uni has bought, but if it's a PDF, why is only one person allowed to read it at a time?)
if you can get linux, install okular, go to the preferences and disable "respect DRM".

Go Vista!

Mac is just plain shit and nothing works there
FINALLY I HAVE JUSTICE

you need a 36 button gamepad for DF, that I doubt is common among the many computer/gaming stores

You have struck a Microcline thread!
I'm not worthy of his brilliance... I just wish it wouldn't pause my game whenever I struck it!!

when stones are dumped into a chasm, is the memory they occupied removed/reassigned.
