I have a friend who left some time last year to Washington for work(I live in California). We had a "farewell" D&D session that night. It was pretty cool.
Anyway, we still had contact with each other via Facebook and Skype, but his internet hours were extremely limited because of his crappy ISP. Earlier today, he messaged my other friend who I live with that he was at someone's house who had XBox Live Gold and Borderlands 2, which meant we could play together. My other friend bursts out of his room happily to tell me to find a save point, as I was playing some JRPG, so we could play Borderlands with our friend. I quickly just leave the game so we could set up for this.
A minute later, our friend who was supposed to be in Washington comes in the door and asks "How's Borderlands going?" It ends up he was at someone's house who had BL2. Quite an awesome day.

So, for a while, my friends and I have been trying to look for our Gamecube games. The last time they were seen were when out friends hot their new TV, which was almost a year ago. Probably a few months ago, my friend's cousin wanted to borrow their Gamecube, which they did. In our search for out games, we asked if they had it. Apparently they didn't which was pretty sad.

Just today, my friend got a text from his cousin asking if we wanted some Gamecube games. What an convenient opportunity! We accept this gracious gift and wait sure the game's arrival. I jokenly predict that they're going to come and hand us the purple CD case we kept our GC games. I was right. My friend's cousin comes in and hands my friend the purple CD case with our games in it. We all have a good laugh and the cousin goes on her merry way... Then we notice most of the games missing. What's worse were the missing games were the ones we wanted to play. My friends gets a little pissed and send a text mentioning the games were missing. He gets a text back later that says "oh we probably threw them away, sorry!"

...yep, everyone's mad.

On another note, my phone's being a huge dick to me, so there are probably a ton of mistakes. My laptop won't charge anymore (again) soo I've gotta this stupid phone.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: How to get my injured dwarves acknowledged?

Do you have a Chief Medical Dwarf?
Yup. I think he's busy working on another patient, though.

I'll try giving everyone diagnosis and recover wounded jobs.

Moving the dwarf (by removing the bed) seems to work for me at all times.

Indeed, this is the fix.
Has been confirmed multiple times as well :D
As I said, getting rid of their beds doesn't seem to work for me. I've even tried rebuilding it just to remove it again.

I've had this problem and fixed it by reinjuring the dwarf. Dig a hole above them, set it as a garbage dump, and drop stuff on them until they pass out from the injuries.
That sounds silly, but I'll give it a shot if there isn't anything else to do.

Look at the dwarf's z, h screen and you'll see exactly what their condition is and what treatments are pending. Make sure you have the necessary thread/cloth/splints/crutches/plaster/traction benches to complete their treatment. "Dehydrated" implies you do not have an accessible water source? (check burrows, etc.)
They both require diagnosis, I've got plenty of materials for their treatment, looots of food, and a well that my dwarves use to give water to every other patient. A few of my doctors are busy dumping items(they don't have any hauling on), but a few are idling around.

DF Gameplay Questions / How to get my injured dwarves acknowledged?

So I've had a few deaths and a lot of injuries from my last goblin ambush.
Most of my injured are healed/healing except for 2. Two of my injured are lying on top of a bed with "no job," while being severely dehydrated and starving. I've been trying undesignating my hospital and deconstructing/reconstructing my beds, but everyone, including my medical team, seem to be ignoring.
This isn't the first time this has happened, but I'm not sure how I fixed it the last time.

I found a bug. I tried to buy a abysmal copper machete for 10 gold, but I accidentally chose to appraise it for the extra 10 gold(I only had 12 gold at the time) and it told me I didn't have enough to buy it. Then I suddenly had only 2 gold, which is annoying with how lethal this game is.

LNP deleted my custom graphics set. It had chosen the wrong DF folder and I thought it was the one it came with, so I was messing with the options and had it install the Phoebus graphic set. I realized my mistake when I tried running it.
Later, I was trying to look for my graphic set I had in there and it was gone, replaced by Phoebus' stuff. My tileset was gone, too. It'd be completely gone, were it not for the graphics being stored in the saves, but my tileset wasn't there, though.

I was playing Dwarf Fortress. Autosave kicked in at the beginning of summer. Things going along happily. Then my computer shuts off for seemingly no reason. I was keeping tabs on its charge, because even though its plugged in and says its fully charged, my computer is a big liar and it wasn't running hot at all.
A little miffed at the progress I lost, I wait a little bit before playing again. It gives me an opportunity to retry something I fucked up that I had set up the season before. I get frustrated at my dwarves, but otherwise things are going alright.
Then my computer overheats and shuts off when I wasn't paying attention.
Now I have to use this stupid fan. And I've lost the will to play.

DF Gameplay Questions / Good armor setup?
« on: February 01, 2013, 10:46:25 am »
What's a good outfit for my melee squads to wear?
I've got them in the default "metal armor" uniform right now, but I want to know how to equip them for best protection/most mobility.

Woohoo, a recent migrant wave pretty much rebuilt my military! Now I'm up to 2 melee squads of 10, 1 ranged squad of 9, and 1 melee squad of 4. My original army was destroyed by some clowns, then the attempted rebuild of it was destroyed by goblin ambushes.
Now I just need to equip these guys, which is a big problem, because the only armor grade metal I've got on this map is copper. My small amount of iron, steel, and bronze have been imported.

I embarked in an evil glacier once, back in 40d. The name that was given to my fortress was... "Bunnyflowers."
Obviously, I had to keep it.

I accidentally unleashed the clowns on my fortress. I thought I could hold them back, but I didn't know they could break down doors. Most of my military, which were still wearing/wielding copper and iron stuff, was taken out. My ranged squad was nowhere to be seen(again).
I did manage to successfully seal off the lower part of my mine, which is why this fort is still going, but I ended up sealing off not only the clowns, but every stupidass dwarf who thought it was a good idea to pick up that dead soldier's backpack.
My fort of 216 dwarves declined to 149 that day...

So my fort just had its first goblin siege, so I ordered my military(4 squads of ~10) to stand outside of the front of my fort, but still inside my walls.
I had a lever that pulled up the four drawbridges that lead into my fort. I really wanted to pull it, but this was happening at the same time the dwarven caravan arrived.(They also came with a liaison to inform me that they want my fort to be a barony!)
The goblins arrived before the first caravan had arrived at my trade depot, which required crossing one of the bridges. I was watched intently, looking between the caravans, which were going painfully slow to my depot, and the goblins, which were going painfully slow to my fort. Soon, the last caravan was juust about to fully cross the bridge. Just one tile. I ordered that lever pulled and also made my citizen burrow go up to it.
I watched my woodcutter go up and pull the lever, but at the same time I heard Soundsense start playing battle sounds.
My dwarves and the goblin squad were both on the bridge.
It was too late to get that lever pulled and I watched in horror as the bridge went up. The scream that Soundsense produced, indicating one of my dwarves was killed. I paused the game to assess the damage. About 3 dwarves were knocked on their ass by the drawbridge slamming into their face, otherwise unharmed. One dwarf was propelled into the my moat with enough force to kill him. Another 3 dwarves, including my captain of the guard who I had named after a friend, were in the moat, along with 5 goblins. The rest of the goblins were on the other side of the bridge, a few of them inside my strategically placed cage traps. I unpaused the game to see how this would unfold. I doubted the survival of my poor friend in the moat, as the only way out was on the opposite side of the moat, behind a closed floodgate. The goblins and the dwarves started fighting while underwater and drowning. I was truly an inspiring sight, until they drowned a few moments later. (Luckily, they had managed to take out at least one of the goblins!)
That was the end of the remarkable things. I had my broker trade with the caravan, my citizens haul the newly aquired goods, got my mayor recommended for barony. The drawbridge was dropped after that and the goblins came back over the bridge, only for three of them to get slaughtered while the rest fell into my cage traps. Then one of the caravans' escorts tore off a coati's toe with his teeth.

Dear (ex-)hammerer(s),

Please execute the vampire.
This is the fifth time.

Sincerely, the entire fort
