General Discussion / Re: A Slightly Different Religion Thread

Deny? I never said it denies anything. I cannot say that there is absolutely no possibility of such a thing, I'm saying that there is as of yet no reason to think that such a thing exists. Saying that I don't have any way viable to claim that it doesn't exist doesn't mean that it does.  The only thing I'm saying is that wild assumption making doesn't give facts.

The only thing we can logically conclude is that there is as of yet insufficient data to draw a conclusion either way from. The default position. The position that the assumption cannot be made. It doesn't rule anything out. It doesn't declare that something is false. It declares that something cannot be claimed to be true, which is a very important distinction.

Looking at the mountains of evidence that exists, I'd have to again disagree with you.

When you observe that We Exist, someone may have made us is not a natural assumption to make.

Because if we say that the default position for ALL proposed truth is that it's true until proven otherwise, we'd all be wearing tinfoil hats.

There is a giant pink dragon flying behind the Andromeda Galaxy that will destroy you unless you sacrifice your first born to it.

Prove me wrong.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypercube Here's a four dimensional object for you.

Note it's lack of omnipotence.

I think for a sandbox type game like this, my original suggestion holds up when it comes to tutorials. Pre-made scenarios. Ship the game (lol) with a tiny or sub tiny pre-gen'd worlds, enough to have a fortress with a different scenario ready for the education. There'd have to be some method of providing in-game notification, though.

Meh. I think if anything remotely like what the mock up looks like would be more than adequate. It's even possible to do something kind of like what Khazad does, with the multiple layer rendering if unrevealed tiles are... Well, not revealed.

I'll set the bar high.

I paid to see Brian Greene give a talk live at the Paramount Theater in Austin.

Worse things have existed. I tend to believe that the story is at least partially true. If not a an actual event that the writer himself experienced, then an embellishment, elaboration on earlier stories. Things like this DO HAPPEN, and it is wrong to just assume because an anonymous poster put it on the internet.

What I'm trying to say is, there is some reflection of a true event, but I'm not sure if the event described is the event.

Wish I could help but I can't. Yet, anyway. If I could learn the shit I'd take up the project in a heartbeat, since I have the free time anyway.
