I just want a picture like in paint, ascii is ok as well.  you dont actually have to construct it, just design it. 
From now on all my children are going to have to defeat one thief in combat to prove there worth. just like the spartans.

My fortress needs an above ground coliseum.  I have over 100 goblins in cages and I want to use them to entertain my dwarfs.  Sadly, I just can't think of an awesome enough design right now so...

DESIGN CONTEST

Rules:
  • must be above ground
  • must be at least 20 by 20 squares
  • must be at most 40 by 60 squares
  • I don't have sand, so no windows but i do have gems
  • must be functional
  • maximum of 5 floors
  • I encourage you to add in weapon traps or pillars or something to make it interesting
Rewards:
  • The person with the best design gets to name the coliseum and will be recognized in the POI

You don't have to build it, just design it.  Please submit your design in the form of a picture.

I usually dig a 50 square long hallway into the center of the mountain, filled with traps and bridges ofcourse.  From there I just create big rooms to store all my crap in. I give dwarfs 3x3 rooms ussually.

(the POI is called pet trap)

I had 2 pressure plates one on each side.  They are set that the minimum weight is 3 and max is 20 and allow citizens (is this the problem?) also do i want single activation or not?
They are hooked up to the bridge with exceptional mechanisms.
The main hallway on the top is blocked for pets so they have to take the way around (which they do) but the bridge doesn't activate.

PLZ Help I have more pets then dwarves and my FPS is almost single digits.

You don't need a building designer.  That skill doesn't do anything.

Here you are, auto-hotkey script to do rings with arbitrary inner and outer diameters. If you just want a circle, use an inner diameter of 0. Unfortunately, you'll have to modify the script directly to change the circle size, but that shouldn't be much of an issue (just change the "0" and "4" below)

Ok, I had this error and fixed it by going into the individual save folder with the notepad files and copying the ones from an earlier save into my new one.  The newest save had only 3 notepad files and the older one had around 20.  If you didn't back up your screwed ;D

My dwarfs(or proles as i like to call them) are constantly being watched by the telescreens.  I control every aspect of their life.  They have no freedom, hope or asperations.  whenever they think a bad though about me I send the thought police after them.  I make them eat the most disgusting plumphelmets every day for every meal.  The proles all live in darkness, in constant fear the all the wars going on.  I change history to suit my needs.  they don't need to know what really happened.  Ofcourse all the upperclass nobles are exempt from this.  They are part of the Inner Party.  I use my totalitarian might to ensure that the proletariat revolution never comes.

It's efficient but don't expect any complements from your dwarfs

Check out my dwarfs livingspace.
its in a 6 story apartment complex (outside of course)
Everydwarf living in it gets a 4x3 bedroom 4x2 office and 4x6 dining room. 
There are 6 units per level (only 5 on the first cause of the entrance)
