The stable version bugs up too much. Randomly the walking keys fail to work, and i have to completely restart. Gets kind of annoying.

Nope. How would one 'win' DF?

You don't. It's like 'The Game'. You don't win, just lose eventually.

Howeverrrr, if you can defeat the demonic hole from an adamantine vein, and face it off for 10 in-game years, then considerably, you won the game.

Other Games / Anyone remember a browser-based game?
« on: September 24, 2010, 04:56:46 pm »
I'm hoping it still exists, cuz i feel like playing it now, so let me see if i can describe it.

It's basically like a text-based rpg game, based off of DND rules (which i'm talking about ROLLING), and you roll your stats that you get, and... i dunno about skills though. But when you start, i think you start off in a town, and theres this one adventure i think the second one where you start off with getting past 2 trolls to go into a cave area, and you can use a skill to map it out or something.

Theres tons of other areas, and a useless shop that seems to sell useless items, which leaves the needs to fight for good items. Not to mention theres this one quest i remember that you have to fight subsequent fights to get good items, and can do it more then once for a better one, and i dunno if it's a large amount like maybe being able to do it 10 times or more, never went past the second.

Not to mention the boat adventure... and stuff.

And access to an adventurer premium service for cents a year i think, that lets you have good stuff, and i think it's a if you buy it on a week, you get special stuff off it.

So i hope i detailed it enough for you guys to know, and hope it's still alive. So anyone remember the game?

Edit: And after about 3 minutes later checking my e-mail, BOOM, there it is... Sryth

It looks "Better" but I think it's not much of an improvement.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There is something hilarious though: a new ending, in X-4.
I'll give you a minute to guess what happens.

Just in case my guess is right...

DF General Discussion / Uhh... application, what?
« on: September 20, 2010, 05:26:38 pm »
Kind of weird. Whenever i try to open up the wiki (yes i know it's down, but i didn't know for how long until i saw the main page), theres a little present decided to wait for me. Octet-stream application? Whats that gotta do with the downed wiki? Hacking maybe?

I hate collecting MORE pokemon. Enough with more generations already!

.....And NO MUDKIPS!

Edit: But seriously though, the new pokemon through and through is just making me a bit... um... well it's hard to explain. I got used to the old pokemon, but these new ones... i'll never get used to.

Other Games / Re: Russian programmer kill DF!!
« on: September 15, 2010, 10:48:12 pm »
Someone who wants to make a russian version of DF with more mouse versions. If my word had any say, i'd say "support this".

Seriously, whats the big deal? If they wanted it for one part of the community, you could leave it at that and let them have it. And look what they did. They made an adventure mode with digging abilities, and mining abilities, and woodcutting abilities. (i think...)

Think about it, DF is moddable, and most came to do just that: mod it. If they want to make a version that doesn't use the keyboard so often, let them. Makes it easier on my hands to remember where all the almost-blank keys on my keyboard needs to move to. And lets be honest. I bet at least 15% of this community or more wanted a mouse UI.

Someone with $4,000/month, and no programmers cept himself and some guy to fix sdl bugs. You CAN say it. <.<

I'll say it when it's true. Not saying it won't ever be something we can say.

So we can't count on Toady?

But yeah... with payments on a roguelike it'd probably be low very low if no graphics are settled.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

Paying a lot of money on work for Roguelike games isn't worth to pay too much on.

Easier to say this:

Crime-focused roguelike thats ultra-realistic and full of stuff you can do like Dwarf Fortress. I wanna run a mafia. :O

I wish we could say that.

But yeah... with payments on a roguelike it'd probably be low very low if no graphics are settled. Come now, a version of DF thats focused on the modern times of crime, and stuff is awesome, being able to control any type of crime-related syndicate and all that, including cop briberies and shit.

And hell, a futuristic one too. Your imagination is the only limit... only problem... if you can dig into Z-Levels on every world... oh my god, here comes the LAG that can crash any computer that isn't a high-end.. um... server? mainframe? ???

But yesh, crime-focused roguelike thats AWESOME.

Why didn't you destroy them with a ranged weapon or attack? what class were you using?
A knight, without a bow, and the maps that didn't spawn it, and that the bow barely comes in the shop.

Again, i'm stuck...

Edit: And when it appears in the shop, i can't buy it at the time.

Nightmare night in Transylvania, seek the protection of light or let your body be shredded by the unholy creatures of darkness
4 skeletons on the bridge level. And they BLOCK THE JUMP EVERYTIME! Theres one way i can't make it to the castle, even when i get prepared the make me instantly unprepared by making me jump 100+ times till i can FINALLY  MAKE IT.

Why did you make such an annoying puzzle.  :'(

Edit: 6 now.... oh god... i give up trying to make it past stage 2...
