No, but that's probably because I don't talk to people.

And again, every card has an impact that can win or lose the game, even if it's a few points of damage, getting an early body and a ping or something can easily win you the board early on, propelling you into winning the rest of the game.

Of course it does. But that's not the point. The point is that nothing about what the rest of the deck (aggro shaman) is doing needs Finley. Given the rest of the deck, it's probably the best choice for the 30th card. But if you swapped it for a Worgen Infiltrator, the rest of the deck still works.

812
That can be said of any card tho. You can just toss the flamewreath faceless, if you don't draw it, it's useless, same for rockbiter, oh and doomhammer too. Hell, toss half the deck since you probably won't survive to draw it all anyways :V

No, it can't be said of any card.

to elaborate: the idea behind aggro shaman is to put out an overwhelming board by turn 4-5, and to finish your opponent off with burst spells and rockbiter+doomhammer even if you lose your board.

Finley fits in the deck because he usually improves your hero power, allowing you to squeeze out a few extra points of damage where your hero power would otherwise be making not-useful totems. But nothing about Finley works directly with the rest of the deck.

Please think: have you ever heard an aggro shaman say, "Dang, I lost because my Finley was on the bottom of my deck." But you see plenty of freeze mages lose because Ice Block was on the bottom, miracle rogue lose when auctioneers are on the bottom, etc.

You do need Finley, the Shaman hero power is awful and getting him is a huge game-changer.

It's a good card in the deck, of course. But you don't "need" it, and you'll play most games without it.

Unless you get really unlucky, melee characters can kill all ghosts they meet by drinking a potion of might.
Early dungeon. Ghost with venom brand.

"There's no hope."

Unless you have !curing ID'd?

Autoresolver now deals less damage to high quality units (e.g. Slayers) in standard battle situations and deals more to low quality units.

Well, it'll need to be a pretty big effect. Slayers almost always took >50% losses in autoresolved, even in a decisive victory against weak enemy forces.

I've never seen an aggro shaman list that doesn't use Finley.

You don't need Finley in aggro shaman. It's there because it's a 1-drop that will occasionally make the game easier for you. Most games you won't even draw it.

In other news, droid pops are treated like pre-sentient natives in the 1.2 beta. So you can't move them or build on their tiles, and purging them causes your other pops to get all riled up.

1.2 just officially released. They claim this bug is fixed.

Speaking of WW2 misunderstandings, I think one of the worst ones is thinking the Nazis just wanted to kill the Jews. After all Jews were just half of the victims of the Holocaust and the Holocaust itself was just the beginning. After that, there were things ready for the Hunger Plan that would have killed 30 millions. Plus political and "hygienic" cleansings on top of that.

This is the reason everyone should beware hatemongers, as sometimes the rhetoric they employ is not just a rhetoric but an actual ideology they will be more than willing to put into action if given a chance.

If I remember the Man in the High Castle (the book, not the show) correctly, the victorious Germans weren't known for killing the Jews - they were known for wiping out all of Africa (real world 1950 population ~225 million).

Any country that existed at the time, the three main factions of Axis, Allies and Comintern and certain nations get the option of forming their own factions during the game.

There are a LOT of countries that existed at the time... Are you absolutely certain?

Because that sounds amazing on paper (Since if I ever got this I want to play the greatest country in the world... Canada :P)
Have you ever played a Paradox grand strategy game before? Almost all of them allow you to play as any country. Although as Jopax said, how fleshed out each country is varies.

It is just that there are a lot of very minor countries that existed back then that had nil to no actual influence on the world (Plus quite a few that would come into being)

Though since a lot of them were colonies, it does cut down quite a bit.

The ability to play them is surprising.

Don't be too impressed... like people have already said, playing a tiny insignificant country typically means you have little to nothing to do. Although it can be amusing to see what you CAN do, which has been a staple of Paradox games for a long time (world conquest starting as Ryukyu in 1444 being the stereotype).

It would be like playing Crusader Kings and being able to play... I dunno... China :P

IDKIUT but that's pretty much what half the playerbase said when India was added to CK2.

Of course you can play ANY country that existed at the time. This is par for the course for Paradox (well, except CK2, where different religions and government types are gated by DLC that were only released over the course of the years). But certainly in EU4, Vicky 2, HOI3, etc.

There is even an achievement for joining the Axis as Canada in HOI IV.

I'm a little disappointed.

As Mexico, I joined Comintern. Finland somehow joined the Allies so when SU invaded Finland, that kicked off the whole thing.

Fight with USA is pretty much even, in autumn 1940. Somewhat goofy but whatever. I've advanced deep into Texas. USA is outbuilding me but apparently has worse divisions.

Then in spring 1941 my communist coup plot finally fires and everything west of the mississippi (sans texas, which I'm slowly finishing off) switches to the communist states of america, including all of the US divisions that were there (dozens). war is pretty much a foregone conclusion now. CSA immediately joins comintern so the American Civil War gets folded into the whole Soviet Invasion of Finland.

It really feels too easy.

Force-wise I have yet to see a reason to build anything but 100% infantry armies.

Quick started as America in 1936 and started building civilian factories cuz the Great Depression. No Idea if its helping.

That's still debated to this day, so don't sweat it.

King of Dragon Pass seems vaguely appropriate under these criteria.

Nah. The mechanics are all hidden, but they're not that complex.

KoDP is more of an RPG, and not so much a "strategy" game.

Not just smaller size units, but lightly armored seem to do much, much worse.

I started a new dwarf campaign on very hard, starting with the Slayer King hero. I also get a unit of Slayers, which have 0 armor. Normal Dwarf Warriors have 80 armor. Their unit sizes are actually similar; Slayers are 80/unit with 80 health each, and Dwarf Warriors are 100/unit with 55 health each.

Yet in autoresolve, Slayers are totally decimated, while Dwarf Warriors take much lower casualties. Despite the fact that their unit sizes are relatively similar, and Slayers actually have more overall HP. And this is in totally trivial fights, like undefended orc outposts.
