hmm, my count puts you at signup number 8 there Kashyyk. Though it's totally up to Leo if he will allow you in.

I vote yes and close signups after, as having a planter along for the ride dosen't sound like a bad idea at all.

I'll start the game after everybody's satisfied with their character sheets.

Sounds good to me, I think my character sheet looks fine. But maybe you should copy the initial character sheets over into spoilers on one of the first few pages, make things a little easier to see.

Just waiting on Errol now. I'll give him the rest of the day to post his action before I put him on AI for the turn. But hopefully he will post before then.

How are people liking things so far? Any complaints? Suggestions? Maybe even praise?

I suggest AI. Until you get a few turns in at least. If someone hasn't posted in 2 days, they should definately get put on autopilot at least for a few turns. And if they stay gone, then boot them for someone else more active.

Woot, always did love the Super Robot series of games. Front Mission type gameplay, with Fire Emblem type graphics. Sadly, they don't have many of them translated to english, at least not since the last time I checked.

Roll To Dodge / Re: RTDX: The Insane Elf. Sign-ups, one spot left.

I'll give this one a try if there's still room.

IN!

Name: Halenthial Fleshleaf
Race: Pointy-Eared Basta/, I mean Elf
Traits and Proficiencies: Assassin(strong bonus to attacks when undetected), Cat Burglar (Bonus to lockpick, sneak, and disarm traps. Kelptomaniac)
Equipment: Blood-Stained Ebony Bokken(wooden katana, +1 slashing), Shadow leather armor(+1 blunt defense, +1 stealth)
Bio: Halen was born to a poor family of elven tree tenders. He grew up with no resources and was denied any formal schooling. At the age of 14 he decided he was done with poking trees and waiting for them to grow. He signed up for the Elven military as a scout, and was trained to move quietly, quickly and undetected. Showing signs of having talent he was given more and more important jobs, until he was assigned to serve a wealthy human princess.

Being forced to serve such an arrogant employer grated on the Elf. Even with so much wealth she selfishly denied anyone but herself. Before long this changed something in Halen, and one night being ordered to steal a dwarven child so the princess would have a playtoy he lashed out in rage, killing the princess. From that day on, he became an outlaw, both to his own people, and to others who find him thiefing in their towns. He would steal, rob, murder and kill, if the price was right. Where the money he collects goes, no one knows. Anyone who has found out turned up dead before the information leaked very far.

---
How's that, hopefully not too much on the traits. Tried to keep things in balance while pushing for a more dark, sinister elf.

Good lord, I should never have come back. XD Bob was doing fine until I started posting here, heh.

Hrm new dwarf. I don't even know what would be interesting story wise. Or how you might try it. Might be interesting to have Bob turn into a friendly skeleton... Or have a Skeleton join the dwarf forces. Seeing as how we have undead running around.

Otherwise I'm up for ideas. Not sure picking a random crafting dwarf will give much to write about.

ahh ok, your right, for some reason I was thinking it was 1 point per 1 dwarfbuck. And I kept wondering why anyone would take furniture if it gave the same point amount for it's cost in money. Glad that's all cleared up.

Should be interesting. Been quite some time since I played OT. But I' up for giving it a try. Though personally, I think furniture should be worth more on final scoring than it's initial amount in weightless cash.

Dragnar enters the small shop in the alleyway. Bookcases filled with their intended contents line the walls, and piles of unsorted books are scattered around each corner. Finding a path through the books, He makes his way through the smokey and dimly lit interior to the back of the shop.

Sitting on a short table is a very old gentleman. Quite wrinkled and bald, he puffs on a large stick of incense as he quietly watches Dragnar approach. Raising one nearly skeletal hand, the old man stops the question before it can be finished. "Lord Thoth's blessings are not easily given young one."

Reaching to one side, the small shopkeeper pulls out a similarly small velvet bag. From the bag he takes out three cards, and places them face down before him.

The first card is turned up to reveal the reverse tower. "Hm, you have had major changes in the past, changes related to imprisonment of your own desires." The shopkeeper looks at Dragnar's face as he adds, "Changes out of your control."

Flipping the next card reveals an upright moon. "Your dreams are currently powerful, leading you to seek help from one who is not well looked upon here in this city." The elderly man ponders a moment, then turns to the last card.

The last card shows the shining form of the Empress. When the card is revealed a warm glow seems to slide over Dragnar's skin for a moment before it dissipates. "Hmm, Lord Thoth approves, Let the paternal guidance of the empress show you the way young one."

Gathering the cards again, the old man stops for a moment, and randomly pulls one final card from the Book of Thoth. The two of cups, reversed. Putting the cards away quickly, the leathery elder tells Dragnar that his friends seem to be in trouble. If he wishes to continue traveling with them, he should seek them out immediately.

Back in the Scarab, Gates decides now would be a good time to exit the bar and listen to the word on the street. However little can be heard from camels tied up outside, and there seems to be a distinct lack of people at this particular moment. He does however hear a large amount of noise, coming from the street behind the Scarab.

Standing up from the booth, Paneb also bids both women farewell, thanking them for the company and information. He turns to head out when one of the women lightly touches his arm. Placing a single rare silver coin in his hand, she mentions that if he gets in trouble he should head to the east side of the city and look for a black domed building. Show that coin, and they will help him. Taking the coin, the man thanks them both, and heads out to the marketplace.

Upon reaching the marketplace however, there seems to be a large argument going on. Making his way through the crowd, Paneb finds Neberhar standing and looking sheepish, holding a piece of silk cloth. Three very large Caravan guards have cornered him, and behind them a man with a torn silk outfit is yelling at them to stop the ruffian.

From Neberhar's point of view, he entered the market with the intent on getting a map. No matter what it took. Searching for a few moments he turned up nothing. A decent stall selling writing equipment is hard to come by in a city where most people can't read.

Deciding a more brash option, he slid behind a large pile of baskets, trying to find one that held cloth he could describe a map upon if nothing else. Finding a decent sized piece of silk, he seemed quite pleased with himself. Grabbing it, he pulled, finding resistance, he pulled harder. Eventually it ripped, and he tumbled back through the baskets, having a few of them fall on him. That's when Neberhar realized the cloth was being worn by the merchant as the other man sat in the shade of his baskets.

The merchant quickly rose to anger at seeing what Neberhar held in his hands, and the state of his clothing. Releasing a short whistle, the three hired thugs came around the corner ready for trouble.

Each of the three guards are shirtless, wearing large baggy silk pants, and a cloth belt holding the hilt of at least one hidden weapon each. They are bare-footed, but seem not to care about the heat of the sands.

The first guard advances, ready to try and pummel Neberhar into a meaty lump. However this particular guard wasn't thinking about the baskets rolling around. One of the scattered reed objects gets caught up in the guard's legs, causing him to fall backwards and thump hard against the packed sand ground.

The second however has no such trouble, easily leaping over one of the parcels rolling about, he aims a powerful uppercut at Neberhar's gut. Be it luck or skill, the unfortunate party member manages to twist out of the way, gaining only a light bruise on his left side from the strike.

Planning to strike with force as well, the last guard sees Neberhar twist away out of his reach, so instead pulls a large metallic-looking club with a rounded end out of his waist sash and prepares to put it to good use.

While this is all happening, the insulted merchant is yelling "Thief! Ruffian! Rogue! Outlaw!" And while Neberhar is occupied with keeping his skin intact, Paneb makes out the sound of metal armor moving closer to the location.

-

Meanwhile, back in the silence of the bar, Darwishi takes his time examining the statue. Nothing really comes to mind as far as he can tell. The statue is crafted from bronze or brass, into the shape of a woman wearing a two piece cloth wrap(also out of bronze), that leaves her shoulders bare, as well as a good amount of thigh. Quite risque for what you've seen of women in this city.

Darwishi leans in closer hoping to learn more, when a quiet metalic sound seems to echo about the bar. Stunned, Darwishi leaps back. The statue just blinked.

However, before anything can be done, a man with the distinct look of a warrior, clad in bronze plated link armor bearing the symbol of a Djed pushes his way out of a booth, and apologizes to his companion loud enough for Darwishi to hear. The guard apparently has been summoned because of an incident in the market nearby. Picking up a wicked looking stone spear, the warrior rushes from the building.

Oh yeah, I forgot entirely about the different myths in the two parts of Egypt... Speaking of which, how closely is this based on the myths? It would be sorta disappointing to know who the traitor is already.

Well, so far I've been using them as I can. However things like time frames, culture levels, and events that happen as we progress will probably change some. I'm no expert, I'm just putting together what I can from web resources. :) That and I've always thought the ancient Egypt era had potential for great stories.

I'm curious if he has any relationships with anyone or anything other than his mace. XD I also wouldn't mind seeing his Thoughts and Pref's screen.

Not the most exciting first turn. But some places were just barely found, and some information was squeezed from bar patrons. Pretty crappy rolls for most of you, but nothing extreme.

The group of five meet up in the clay-walled building. After a brief moment of introduction, three of you decide to stay in the immediate vicinity, while others go their own ways.

Both Gates and Darwishi seem to have drinks on their minds. However they find that behind the bar there seems to be no bartender waiting for orders. In fact the whole place seems very quiet. Almost too quiet.

While no booze is to be found in the immediate location, the two by the bar do notice an odd brass statue standing off to one side. It sparkles slightly in the dim light of the building.

Most of the local patrons sit in sandstone booths watching the group over clutched metallic mugs. The stillness doesn't seem to slow Paneb down however, approaching the nearest booth, he finds two women dressed in expensive silk shawls that allow him to join their table. After some quick smooth talk, they inform him that the city isn't very fond of travelers from the north. As there was an assassination attempt on their divine leader Ptah just last night, and the 'false copies' from Heliopolis are thought to be at the source.

Outside, Neberhar and Dragnar separate and head off in different directions. The common travelers of the city plow forward, occasionally guiding camels along the pathways, as well as other various pack beasts.

Wandering with little knowledge of the city, Neberhar has trouble finding his goal. After a good deal of walking, he manages to just barely make out the shouted voice of a vendor merchant advertising 'Freshly fired clay pots!', and he uses that to direct himself.

A collection of tents and carefully bound tree fronds cover portable rugs and the occasional pillow in this open air Marketplace. To Neberhar's annoyance it seems the street just behind the Golden Scarab is the mobile flea market's current home. He takes a moment to catch his breath and brush the sand off his feet before entering the swarm of shoppers and sellers.

Meanwhile, Dragnar doesn't have much luck either. Walking the streets it occurs to him that an Upper Egypt divine probably wouldn't have much power in lower cities. He is about to give up when a curious sight catches his eye. Turning down a very narrow, and very dark alleyway, he encounters small dog-faced Baboon sitting and staring right at him.

The animal's disconcerting stare ends only when the creature suddenly darts into a small shop nearby. Dragnar is rattled by the strange omen, turning to leave he stops, noticing the small ibis carved into a stone near the door the Baboon entered. A sign of the God of Wisdom and Science, Thoth.

Awesomesauce. Starting the rolls now. Butter and all, will be up shortly.

If anyone sees this and still wants to join, I won't turn you away. But I will hold off until it fits into the story to add you into the group.
