never mind, they just arrived along with the seasonal horde of monkeys. I'm just used to them first showing up before the winter comes.

i am well into the second spring in my 6th fortress, but seem unable to attract any migrants, despite plenty of exports.

Might the mass slaugters i coundcut of rehsus monkeys that swarm my gate be keeping them away for some reason, or should the game only be counting dwarf deaths?

build a kitchen and let one of em cook to stretch out the food.

Elsewise, maybe do a small amount of farming on the river shore?

make sure that you press the "t" button, not the "o" button.

Also, to select what you want from them, press the left button to select the stuff they have

a small group of them managed to kill 11 out of 18 dwarves while swarming all over the fort. The dwarves didn't have time to group up to do anything.

ehh, yeah, just wasn't expecting to run into enemies so soon.

Was just expecting a single injured thing like from the demo, not a half-dozen maruders from hell.

I'll see if i can get some traps up, and hope they don't attack again until spring, when i might get  a couple of migrants.

*mutter*

just went a tad to the north along the river and got half the cave slaughtered by snakemen.

Was just about to put in some farming too.

How are you supposed to survive against 4 or 5 of them hopping from the water when you can't even make a decent weapon yet? I'd only found tin and was sending some men up to mine a newly found brass vien when they were suddenly ambushed and slaugherted.

this guy isn't getting any health care, though. he only seems to have gotten his hand nibbled on by a gorilla. He can walk around and get food and water just fine, then immediately returns to bed and resumes pouting.

BTW, about how long is it supposed to take to heal a singular yellow wound, Toady?

First off, i would like to say that i am really  enjoying this, despite some quirks i've found.

I've got my 4th fortress running properly after i accidently gave away all my goods for free on the 1st one and got immediately eaten by bears on the 2nd and 3rd one (on the default "safe" map, no less).

However, my hunter recently got himself into a small tussle with a gorilla and got a wounded left hand, and insists on sitting in the barracks until it heals. Problem is, he seems to be rapidly growing very unhappy, even though he can get up and go get food and  water. At the moment he is not doing anything except throwing tantrums.

Seeing that i only just recently started( still in 1st spring) and only have the 7 dwarves, is there any way i can lift this guy out of the doldrums before he decides to toss himself in the river?

(he is only listed as very unhappy, not melachonic or anything like that)

particulary when immediately after you manage to kill one bear with several wounded, another insists on immediately wandering onto the map.
Rather annoying, especially when Play Now! always insists on dumping you in some bear infested spot.

Edit: By the bye, dwarves don't seem to notice when another dwark is trying to recover in bed, even going to sleep in the same bed or dumping another wounded in it.

unless you're cooking a bunch of seeds you've collected, which the dwarves won't eat otherwise.
