Extension.  Unvote.

Okay.  I've got a bit of time, and it has come to my attention that something is rather wrong here.

Mostly...

ToonyMan - Immortal?  Achilles... ?
Mr.Person - Feel like he might be scum--just a theory, though.  Don't read too much into it.
Cheeetar - weird-ass gambit.  Currently think he is town.
CobaltKobold - probably town
SHAD0Wdump - Too quiet, claims last Mafia game evar.
Leafsnail - Hammer.  Think he's town... maybe?
Vector - TOO QUIET
Apostolic Nihilist - occasional post
dakarian - kicking up lurkers

Org
eduren

Have hardly posted since the beginning of the game.

Further, I think that ToonyMan isn't actually a third party.  I think he's bonafide "immortal" scum-with-a-weakness--mostly because he is playing the way he always does as scum, and a full breaking of game balance would be uncalled for.  I think we need to concentrate ourselves on finding his weakness over the next couple of days, and watch him closely so that we can figure out who's trying to work with him.

Now, think about this Town.  Do you want to waste your time with me?  Or do you actually want a chance to win?

If Toony is actually a survivor who wants to work with scum, he has no reason to say this.  This is a scum-tactic, 100% golden.  We need to figure out how to take him down.

Further, a survivor who cannot die has no point in a game.  For a game to be fun, it must be a game for all players... so he must have some sort of loss condition.

(Of course, that might have had something to do with Pandarsenic >_>)

Even more... we have Toony jumping out and accusing people of being scum.  Right.  Something funky is up with his alignment, and I'm almost certain that he's not a neutral party.

Yeah.  Eduren, where on earth are you as all this crazy goes down?

First, who did I actually end up paired with? At some point or another, I've been with Vector, Org and Jim Groovestar...

Also, how does this work?  Role claim to partner and then figure out if they are webadict and work with them if not?

You're with Groovester.

This is how it works:

Claim to your partner.  Your goal is to work together for the Good of the Town.  Coordinate your movements with your partner.  Take note of any strange requests or defections from your partner.  Watch your partner for Webadict-like behavior.  We're enforcing checks and balances here.  Even though you may be working with Webadict, work together.  If your partner is Webadict, then it's likely that one of the other four cells will be able to discover your strange combined behavior.

Hm.  In some respects, think Masons.  In some respects, think a 5-person game with 1 scum.  In some respects, think a 2-person game with 1 or 0 scum.  That's how we're doing things.

Looks to me like a survivor trying to get someone else lynched, but still... good find.

Yeah... hm.

Suggestions on placement of Org?

Options:

In 3-cell with Dakarian-Leafsnail
In 3-cell with Vector-Kobold

I also moved myself because I didn't exactly trust myself with Janus.  I'd rather place myself with a player who is slightly less familiar with the game, and hence (if scum) would probably be less likely to be able to manipulate me out the door.

That's what I thought, too.  Hence keeping those people separate.

FAKEDIT: Good thing you're in a cell of three then, isn't it?  ;)

Yes, okay.  That's more advantageous.  We'll try it like this...

Quote from: No, it was pesto.  Dammit.
Leafsnail - Dakarian - Org
ToonyMan - Mephansteras
Vector - Kobold
Groovester - JanusTwoFace

All of those should generate a lot of conversation, and Org won't be a problem, either.

Phew.

Does this work, then?  I'm not sure about putting Janus with Groovester, though, because Janus has been acting crazy and Groovester is rather lurky.  Rather, I almost think that Janus has been on the anti-town side, though that might just be me.

Also, yes.  Let's leave NUKE alone for now and try killing someone else.  Or something.  Unvote, my head is spinning.

As in, consider a team of Jim Groovester and Org.  Do we really want that sort of situation?

I do have a problem with what you're implying with this, however.

Jerk.

I know I am, and I apologize.  I'll try to explain, though, as that was a special case of a generalization.

We don't want two people who are lurking in this game put together.  Myself and Org would be an equally poor combination.  Myself and ToonyMan would be another horrible combination, since we both tend to get tunnel-vision.  There are horrible combinations all over the place, and the hope is to minimize certain sorts of damage that could arise from this sort of thing--a cell that tunnels other cells, a cell that completely lurks, a cell that is so anti-town it hurts (NUKE + Webadict, if Webadict were still alive, a cell where both members have horrible social skills, a cell where one person has really good social skills and the other member has really poor social skills.

So again, I'll apologize, and hope I haven't hurt your feelings too badly.

I thought Org and NUKE would go well together because NUKE is probably getting voted today, and Org in a cell by himself is... well, about the same as Org in a cell with someone else >_>

Do you have a different arrangement that you think would work better with Org?  I figure we'd need someone tricky and reasonably pro-town to go with NUKE, if he survives this dayphase... Org doesn't matter that much, other than needing someone independent to go along with him.  This setup mostly relies on NUKE getting offed.

I was also thinking about mixing up Leafsnail and Dakarian... just a minute.

Right.  I'm going to suggest something like this...

Leafsnail - Dakarian
ToonyMan - Mephansteras
Groovester - Kobold
Org - NUKE
Vector - JanusTwoFace

Does that work with you guys, or can you see any potential problems in that lineup?

I'd think that 3/3/4 might be a better celling...? just sort of a path-of-the-mean thought here.

Thought about that already.  The thing is that people tend to form teams when they're playing this game.  So frequently we'd end up not with a genuine 3-cell, but a 2-cell with a 1-cell inside of a 3-cell.  We don't want that behavior, we want a little bit of fighting inside the 2-cell and then opposition between the 2-cell and the other 4 2-cells.

FAKEDIT: GRARGH!  Dudes, this is the problem.  No, I don't think either of you is Webadict, but I don't want to have leftover people sitting on the sidelines.  As in, consider a team of Jim Groovester and Org.  Do we really want that sort of situation?  We need to carefully manufacture these things for the best results, and best results include not just friendship, but also opposition.

@Vector: I think it'd be better to have two groups of 5 role-claim to each other. Breaking into pairs just lets the SK WIFOM everyone into lynching the partner of whomever was NK'd.

Limiting the numbers keeps the SK from hitting the best targets.  We can avoid WIFOM by just not taking everyone for their word as far as what the kills mean.  Scum can only feed as much wine as the town is willing to drink.

This.

Also, my current plan (once other people get over here to discuss it...) is to create cells so that we cultivate disagreement/don't have two people who are likely to just go along with each other.  My current model was each pair contains an analyst/active player + a tunneller/lurker.

The other thing is that I, at the very least, have a very hard time processing the amount of data flying around in a Mafia game.  Splitting the town into two sets hardly reduces the amount of data... but 5 does something completely different entirely.  We have 5 "informed minorities," 4 of which are guaranteed town.

Also, we want to squeeze the Webadict into as small of a space as possible.  Right now we're working with 1-cells, and considering a 10-cell.  It's easy to be a Webadict in either of those places.

In a 2-cell, with constant pressure from the townie partner and 4 other townie 2-cells looking at how the pair works together.... no, that's not easy at all.  Consolidation of data for each player means more scrutiny on the Webadict, no matter who he is.

Essentially, because we've got only one scum, we're constructing scum-teams.  It sounds ridiculous and batty, but my hope is that it will work.

Proposed list of pairings up in a little while.  This job is more social than analytic, though, so I'll request help with altering pairs to generate the correct amount of friction when they go up.

Leaf in the end of D1 was aggressive about his vote but passive about the extension.  His response mimics that.  If he claimed he was BIG on wanting the day to end or BIG on not caring then it would be trying to repaint the past: a nasty scumtell.

Meanwhile, the person I wanted to target is slipping out.. meh.

No, seriously, just a few more proofs and my book on skin and I'll be able to actually contribute over here ._.

Also, if you want to target me... ask me some questions.  Like "Why the hell did you do X," as opposed to just saying "Get out here and start flailing."

WTF, I didn't think that would go over very well.  Anyway, I have to go eat and do math problems and stuff, but when I'm back I have more structure to put under that.  This game is a puzzle, and the first step to solving a puzzle is machinery.
