Roll To Dodge / Re: You are a D-List Batman Villain TURN 15

Gort Natman.  A name destined for supervillainry.  With Gotham's crime rate somehow increasing further than its already astronomical amount, the Gnatman has decided it's time to make a name for himself.  Armed with only $1000 in savings, a cheap vaguely insectoid Halloween costume and an encyclopedic knowledge of all things entomological, Gotham's newest, lamest supervillain is about to make his debut.

After a quick shopping trip, of course.

First things first; I'll need some gadgets.  To that end, let's look for a local Radio Shack or something, somewhere to gather tech and parts to build some cool Gnat-gear.  Allot a budget of up to $250 to purchase high-techy odds and ends that look like they can be cannibalized and re-purposed as villainous doodads.

"Stand back, ladies and gentlemen.  Hope there's nothing delicate behind that target."
Show off the Pyramid of Power.

(I think this might be the first time I've actually fired this thing.)

Ah, that is good to know.  Still not fond of the new style, from an aesthetic point of view.

I honestly wish Giant had stuck with the old art style.  It looked cleaner to me, and honestly, if he's going to spend three weeks on a page with two lines of dialogue?  Not worth the delay.

TamerVirus hasn't responded, so I guess I'm in?

General Discussion / Re: GUITARS: all about that bass
« on: October 10, 2014, 09:58:15 pm »
Learned of this thread just now; I just got my hands on a bass guitar today. Might as well learn how to play it; seeing as I kinda lack any talent in the field. Playing instruments or singing wasn't ever my style, though I do have a good ear for music, and can even isolate instruments from the music I'm listening to. Once I get a good hang of it, I might be able to replicate tunes by ear.

EDIT:
Off the cuff, I just realized how much bass-level parts of music I understand from various genres and such, and given I have a natural knack for mimicry, I might want to try and replicate those tunes. Like I said, all I need is to know the basics (like the difference of sound per-fret and such, and just adapt that to the other strings for application of note (My mimicking skills are kinda similar to how Akinator works. Once it finds it, it knows it; it just needs some basic clues to start.). To play 2 of the same note on 2 different strings might be a neat trick to learn for kicks. Add more duplicates for kicks; especially with 4 fingers/strings. No real point to it, really.), and figure the rest out.
Learn your basic scale shapes, chord shapes, your Major keys, and so forth.  Also learn the relationships between the notes on different strings; fifth fret on the lower string is the unison, the note directly above your starting note is a perfect fourth,  second fret on the above string is the perfect fifth, second fret two strings higher (and thus the seventh fret on the string between) is the octave, etc.  And never try to figure everything out on your own; either find a friend who knows what they're doing (preferable) or find a website (less desirable) to learn properly.

Display the Pyramid of Power, not in a threatening way but in a show-offy way.

The Brad Pitt movie has absolutely nothing in common with the book but the name and the zombies.  Read the book, it's pretty good.

Bassist (bass guitar and double bass) checking in.  Haven't played guitar in forever but I could probably bang out some chords still.

Seconding Les Mis and Discworld, and putting forth everything Neil Gaiman has ever written.

Yeah, every turn is just a three-hour slog now, and with school, I can't afford the time investment anyway.  Sorry.  I might end up bringing this back in a non-FEF form eventually.

Stand next to Jim and/or Miyamoto, standing confident but relaxed.  Have the Pyramid of Power slowly orbiting around me.
