Due to the massive popularity of Gwent in the Witcher: Wild Hunt, CD Project Red recently moved Gwent from closed to open Beta - free to play with a actually good f2p system unlike heartstone.

I personally, had a lot of fun with it, but found myself annoyed by some balance issues and certain deck archtypes being very common, but there is plenty of potential in the game.

If you sign up over gog you get a free keg, btw.

I honestly find it pretty good and it tingles the sandbox-build-no-limits feelings in all the right places.
Somethings really stand out thou:

After playing it for 49 hours, it did not crash on me once. Which I never saw before in a early access game, hell even Minecraft crashes "all the time" compared to that.
Massive explosions or misslespam and all that is handeld by slowing the game down so you can enjoy the show.


I'm 10 hours into the singleplayer, with a glorious fleet of ... well... missle lauchers hanging from hot air baloons, a oversized cannon floating on a lot of wood and a cruiser, as well as my personal Droppod (A Jet with spikes infront and a tendency for one way missions - slam into the enemy flagship, get out & reck it from the inside. It's fun.

We could do a bay12 arena if anyone else is intrested.

So who plays, how do you play and why?

I ended up in a regular playgroup, mostly casual play, but some of the older players are throwing around splinter twins and that endless combo where you get hp equal to the T(oughness) of a unit that gets in and then always put in a Avatar (T = players life), so -Play avatar, get 20 hp, play avatar again, 40 T, get 40 hp, play it again -> 160 ->320. And yeah that one guy that plays slivers. How do you counter sliver with protection from color if you're not black?

I play mono blue, lockdown/control, but want to go for blue/black, mostly for Baleful Strix, flying 1/1 with deathtouch. And I pulled Liliana of the Veil out of a booster, so yeah~

In Dark Scavenger you move from room to room, with each room having objects and people you can interact with, mostly ending in situations where you have several ways to solve a issue - depending how you do it, you gain loot, progress or you affect something that will happen far later.

Anytime you get loot (which is mostly 1-3 for each room, depending how you do) - you can choose to give that loot to one of 3 crafters, one will always make a weapon out of it, the other a item and the last a ally - for example, if you bring a trap-net as loot, the weapon might be a bola thrower, the item one that gives your next attack a higher stun chance and the ally would be a hunter that can stun animals.

Each item also has special effects, like a dentist-drill-weapon does more dmg if the enemy has a wide open mouth, one of the allys that can heal you is afraid of the dark and will only do so outside, others have more "uses" (looking at you, redshirt ally [He trys his best]).

There is a lot of humor, puzzle and replay-ability in this, it has my recommendation.

So while Napoleonic Wars is simply the mount & musket mod turned into DLC (10$/€), I found it worth the price. There are some bugs, but overall if you could handle warbands, you can handle this.


The commander battle is amazing and a ton of fun, commanding your own regiment and kicking ass while your teammates uselessly stand in spawn and fire all there ammo blindly over the whole map and end up with 0 kills and 0 ammo - is quite fun.

DF Gameplay Questions / Coma Dwarfs?

Errr, I have run into a bit of a probleme....

My dwarfs fall asleep and never wake again. They starve and trantrum, calm down, have elections, but never wake up.... the whole fort was sleeping for nearly a half year before it died was abandond...

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Operation Birdhouse

Dear Gentledwarfs and Utrists,

I have giant eagles out the *** and no DM to tame them. What to do?


I'm considering just digging a nice, say 5 Z levels high, cube into the earth, with a access shaft to it. Release the wild beasts in there and every now and then I'll drop down a goat, cow, mule or kitten to see if it touches the ground before it gets ripped apart by angry oversized chickens.


Any Idears?

Other info: No magma yet, military good enough that eagles are no probleme to kill.

(Also what is it with the blood /everywhere/, like, everywhere? Each single watersource I have is full of slugman blood and god knows what, so is every road and Ewwwwwww...

DF General Discussion / DF + Firan (Mush) Crossover Dream

Yes, it was awesome.

FYI, Firan is a Roman Age mux/mush where you basically rp in one big city and the surrounding land.


In my dream I basically had my character there AND 7 Dwarfs in that land and I could do what noone else could.

Dig.

Down, up, sideways, all over the place. So I let my dwarfs dig like crazy and soon a mega fort over at least 27 Z levels was created, there where epic dinning halls, barracks and so on.

I turned the 2end level into a harmless looking locksmith forge cave thingy where my character lives and evrytime a wizard (the admins of the game) would show up and be like "WTF IS THIS?" and would explore they would go down 1z level and run into 7/7 lava right at the stairs.

And so all admins that would find out I broke the game would die horrificly in magma, in my dream it was the perfect crime.

Since my Char. is kinda a criminal things would go bad for evryone else quite soon. People who still where on my mental revenge list saw there buildings be undermined and vanish overnight, a tunnel network was placed all under the city, allowing my growing criminal organisation to spread and dominate the whole city while my dwarfs only had the finest of dwarfen and human crafts.

Waking up I immideatly rushed towards the pc to relise my plan, however my brain, slowly catching up, informed me that it is not possible.
