...  competitive ...

It doesn't have to be, my dom4 games taught me that winning is for other people (usually those good at diplomacy and with a long-term-plan). But you can pick who loses with you.

Playing underwater nations is a sure way to get into late game for better or worse.

I would like to change to Niefelheim :).

I'm in, EA Marverni I guess. Might change so if someone has a preference, let me know.

Will be my first dom5 Multiplayer game. Since 2018,I forgot, okay Azthor?

I want 'WeGo' X-Com,  where the turns of each team are computed simultaneously, as opposed to the traditional 'I go and then you go'.   Of course, in order to prevent  issues such as melee-combat units from opposite teams  running past each other,  units would only follow orders in spirit, but not in letter, and need  to think for themselves in order to decide how and to what extent a tactical order is obeyed.  A unit movement order would be something like "Move onto <Square> and do <Action> , but follow <Alternative Order>  in situation <Condition>, ... etc", which together with a unit's personality and skills and unfolding conditions on the ground determines the eventual result.

Basically, I want a "War in the pacific" style of  X-com, as it would add to the chaos and make tactical planning more strategic.

Isn't that 5e D&D?

I got no skills, but would enjoy joining a future game.

CoE5 is a delight, i really enjoy the increased connecivity of layers - flooding the underground, piercing into the underworld, unleashing hellish hordes, end times, falling from the sky plane, unleashing baal from his prison, I enjoy the epic scale it sometimes creates. It also plays less "stressful" then dominions 5, where i am far more tempted to obsess about details and choices. Sometimes you just want dom5 at half-brain and quarter pixels.

Mods are fun for it, too.

I should try that again...

I enjoyed it for its price point, mods are pretty diverse and nice, too.

It's just different then dominions 5 and thats just fine.

A combination of the fungal fright mod and some of the "pascals dark army" mods resulted in all units in my army ID shifting/changinge extremly, so one army of spearmen would turn into a army of gods (with 5 hp each), but also turned all mirror shard throwers into goats.

Good stuff

Kinda disapointed with the kobolds, they don't have a cherry ontop - yeah, you got different colors, but it really lacks that kobold energy of really intresting traps or woreship, the dragons you can summon also suicide themselfs to much.

Druid has the "issue" that you run out of high level summons at one point and nothing responds anymore, which is very weird seeing how it have no issue given you 10 ents or 10 beholders, then just stops at a abitary point.

Illusionist has some mild improvements, but still lacks options imo.

Anyone found a organic/natural way to invade the primal plane?

It also seems like anytime you open a gate or portal to elysium (heaven) every single non-defender unit in it will swarm out and overrun the lands.

I would enjoy more "special recuit" places, like the cloud-towers, but mortal - from barbarian villages to goblin enclaves, why not mix it up a little - and give the "true" factions something more special then "just" units. Let me learn and teach a special spell per capita per faction. The promotion mechanic is nice and could also be expanded. Not letting you delete old saved games from the load menu is a crime imo.

I specifically like when you have each unit tracked through a lenghty periode of time - like in dwarf fortress, dominions 5 and Close Combat. Any recommendations in that area?

Multiplayer is pretty good though, but I still find myself using warbands instead or napolic wars :I

Oh - if you guys didn't try out the "1000 players on the map" mod, I gave it a try and its just so strange, like playing a Bannerlord-MMO. Dozens of people wiggling across a field, farming virtual foods for 3 Cash a action, its cute. Felt to grindy to continue however and I am a guy that played CRPG for 300 hours. (Man that was good back then).

Feels like thats every early access game - they all have speed at first, but eventually bog down like a tiger tank in a swamp.
